    Jarrett Bell @JarrettBell
@RamsNFL coach McVay and GM Snead again had very respectful tone in addressing @AaronDonald97 holdout.

The Rams have placed RB Lance Dunbar and WR Michael Thomas on the Active/PUP list.

The Rams have placed S Maurice Alexander, S Lamarcus Joyner and FB/TE Cory Harkey on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.

McVay says Alexander and Joyner being on Active/NFIN list has to do with their physicals but “It’s not going to hold them up” tomorrow.

Les Snead says he’s spoken to Aaron Donald’s reps today:
“The focus is on getting a contract done so that Aaron is a Ram for a long time.”

McVay is now talking up Dominque Easley, saying he’ll get more reps with Donald not in camp.

“Today is no different than yesterday or the spring. Today doesn’t change that urgency at all.” — Snead

McVay says he’s already addressed Donald with the full team. “It’s not like they didn’t know what’s going on.”

I’m 5 minutes, 30 seconds into the McVay/Snead/Donald transcription and I’ve typed the word “respect” seven times.

    1. My (educated take) #Rams and Aaron Donald will forge their path to a long-term contract that satisfies everyone’s objectives.

    2. There are nuances involved in a situation where the player and the team want a long-term relationship that is cognizant…
    3. …Of the reality of the NFL salary cap – which is unlike that of the NBA or MLB

    4. The trick for both sides is a contract that rewards a talent like Donald but also leaves flexibility to fairly pay others…
    5. As well as go out and add talent. There’s nuance involved in creating that kind of deal for a mega talent like Donald. Takes time

Snead says haven’t necessarily talked about a timeline of when Donald shows up and that their priority is to get a contract done.

“He’s a great player, we knew this was a potential possibility for us,” says Sean McVay. “We’re not going to allow this to set us back.”

Titans just signed DT Jurrell Casey to a 4-year, $60.4M extension, including $40M Gtd; had 2 years left on his deal.

I’m told, from Rams’ side, discussions with Aaron Donald and his reps have been amicable. Dialogue is open. No bitterness, just business.

As today’s comments indicated, Rams have tried to show their respect to Donald. They value him as a player and a person.

That doesn’t mean a deal will get done, say, tomorrow, but it’s better than the alternative of a nasty stalemate.
