Cornerback Troy Hill, who was released by the Rams on Tuesday, cleared waivers and was re-signed to the practice squad Wednesday, a person with knowledge of the situation said.
Hill, 25, was released three days after he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Hill was arrested after he crashed his white Mercedes Benz into the back of a big rig on the westbound Ventura Freeway near Encino, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Rams Coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday that Hill was released because “he didn’t put the team first.”
But he left the door open for the return of a player who has started four games and is fourth on the team with 38 tackles.
“I think people deserve second chances in life,” Fisher said after Tuesday’s practice. “I think he learned from it, but I was just disappointed in his choices.”
The Rams also re-signed cornerback Steve Williams, who they had signed and released earlier this season.
Rookie cornerback Michael Jordan was promoted from the practice squad to the roster on Tuesday. Blake Countess was promoted to the roster last week.
