Rams beat ARZ reaction thread

Austin’s punt return, Gurley’s catch, Keenum and Quick’s pass catch, all big on the last drive for a TD.

It is clear though, that the Rams’ offense needs to improve and a couple penalties killed them. Good thing they were able to overcome them.

Case Keenum has his limitations, but he is a gamer. He’s like a really good version of Austin Davis.

Any day that the Rams win and the Pats lose, especially a shutout, is a good day. Pie and cake should be eaten in great volumes this week.

Seeing Gurley getting stuffed so often is getting tiring. I DO hope they can find a way to loosen the shackles soon.

#73 had 2 huge, game changing, penalties in the 2nd half. This offense isn’t potent enough yet to absorb that kind of crap.

Who the heck is wearing #83? Is that the old Quick? Cant help but think that Spruce and Cooper have a prodding effect on him.

All in all, a good game. I think Nittany was saying last week that these close finishes are rough to watch. I tend to agree. If I had more faith in the offense, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. But when an opposing score late in the game could spell LOSS, I get a little antsy. Maybe throwing to Gurley more might have continued success.

This was a good day. First the wife calls from work and says she’s hungry for stromboli so we skip the diet today and hit the pizza shop! And then—the Rams win!!!!!!

This team just does not make it easy—but a win is a win is a win.

At 3-1, don’t look for Goff any time soon. I have to wonder if Keenum is the game manager the Rams needed, and if they had not traded for Goff and drafted a Will Fuller instead, and another lineman, and had the picks for next year…well–maybe that would be enough.

Doesn’t matter.

3-1 feels great.

Not only that–they have beaten the cards and Seahawks each once. At best those teams can only even the series this year. And the Cards are in a world of hurt right now.

So anyway—how bout that Brian Quick–eh?

I’m just going to enjoy this for now. Feels good.

Two road wins in a row. When’s the last time ‘that’ happened?

Outstanding win. They are learning. Slowly. Its still quite Ugly
on offense, but its fun watching this team emerge.

Good to have Gaines back, and I don’t think it is a coincidence that TruJo finally turned in a good game with Gaines on the other side. I didn’t see Joyner all day (though he was credited with 4 tackles), nor much Hill.

The Gurley situation is a bit frustrating, as are untimely penalties.

The Rams have mastered Bend, don’t Break, it seems. They seem to give up a lot, but come up with the stop eventually.

Arizona got a few bruises today. Is it just me, or do the Rams seem to send an uncommon number of Cardinals to the training room every time they play?

Well, 3-1 is not a bad place to be at the quarter pole, especially since that opening game clunker. It seems like the Rams get a little better every week.

Fun fact: The Rams have been outscored 76 – 63 in the four games.

Denver is the only team with 4 wins. Phil and Minn are 3 and 0.

New team leadership. They acted dramatically on it, called a players only meeting, and they turned that game into a wake-up.

You know what it’s also looking like. The offensive changes were enough so that they were essentially learning it again. Less carry over from last year. Now they are picking it up and getting in stride. More 2nd nature.

Seems like their changes set the running game back more than they anticipated. After what looked like a ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ moment regarding the running game in the second half of the Bucs game it looks like the tunnel collapsed against Arizona.

But, interestingly, going back to last season, Gurley has had only one 100 yard game in his last 12 games. And he’s had only two games where he averaged at least 4 yds/carry. So maybe his troubles have nothing to do with any changes made to the offense over the offseason. Maybe the Rams running game is just inherently weak due to what…poor run blocking, defenses not respecting the Rams passing game? Both? Neither?

Punting and punt coverage….. Hekker has pinned opponents; yesterday 2 punts in the 4th qtr pinned AZ inside the 20 (1 inside the 10) I believe Hekker hasn’t punted a Touchback this year yet… one of those punts went to waste with the horse collar tackle, but ultimately resulted in an INT.

Greg Zuerlein 5 for 5 in FGs thus far….. and perfect in XPs……he was difference vs Seattle and TB…. yesterday, his points were just as important.

Defense played great… came up big….. I think Tru Jo’s int was inconclusive and shouldn’t have been overturned…. anyway, TJ put the game way with a fair catch int to end the game….

Arizona’s defense is still tough and keyed on the Gurley, but the Rams still need to put drives together to consume the clock and put games away.

Fisher needs to use his replay “get out of jail free cards” a bit more wisely……
