Rob Gronkowski, Nate Solder and Jonathan Cooper were not with their teammates as they left Friday for Arizona, Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal reports. Unless the three players are taking other avenues to get out West, it appears that the Patriots could be without some help to open the season against the Arizona Cardinals. Another option is that the three players travel to Phoenix on Saturday.
The Patriots list eight players as “questionable” on Friday, but the team doesn’t have to rule anyone out until Saturday.
Gronkowski was limited all week with a hamstring injury that he suffered on Aug. 15 in a practice with the Chicago Bears. There was a report by ProFootballTalk on Thursday that said Gronkowski could be a game-time decision for the Patriots.
Solder suffered a hamstring injury in the preseason finale against the New York Giants. Cooper has been dealing with a foot injury all summer.
Also listed as questionable were Trey Flowers (shoulder), Shaq Mason (hand), Shea McClellin (shoulder), Malcolm Mitchell (elbow) and Chris Hogan (shoulder). Of those players, Hogan was the only one who was a full participant in practice this week.
