    * Right now the Rams really have 12 linemen. There’s the 10 on the roster, plus Battle on the practice squad, plus Reynolds on IR (the new rule is one player can come back from IR during the season).

    * Looks like the opening day line is GR RS TB & Hav. The ROG could be either Wichmann or Brown. The other back-ups are Rhaney Donnal Arkin and Murphy. Murphy was a UDFA discovery. Arkin is a “ronin,” a young vet who has bounced around some. I like to say Boudreau makes something out of guys like that, or he has before anyway.

    * Williams is also on IR. He looked awful when he played but that can be misleading. Linemen can look bad, and where the fans see a player who lacks talent, coaches can see a development project. IMO they would not be keeping Wms in any way shape or form, on IR or not, if they didn’t see some possibilities in him. OL is all about technique, mechanics, and mindset. So a player actually can look bad at one point and then later on turn out to be a good one. At one point early last year, for example, when Barnes came up, all some people could do was remind you how bad he looked against Mebane at the end of 2013. Well he was fine last year and is looking even better so far this year.

    * The starting line looked good this summer and that was without Hav. I expect good things from this bunch this year.

    * And on top of it, they are deep…for a change. Actually most NFL lines are not that deep. Either way, this is as deep as I can remember any Rams line being.

    * Now, it’s time for all that to turn real. Go get em boys.

    2 changes.

Arkin was released and then put on the PS.

    and then:

    ..

So the Rams have 2 linemen on the PS (Arkin and Battle) and 1 on IR. They are not likely to pull Wms off the IR this year. If he has any chance to develop and improve it will be by going through the whole process, including working this year and then demonstrating he’s better in OTAs and camp. Battle, I think, is not likely to come off the PS. He has to go through the same process Wms is.

Arkin, however, could (if the need arose) come off of PS and be put on the roster. He amounts to Saffold insurance.
