from Arsene Wenger is Stan Kroenke’s perfect boss – but that doesn’t make him perfect for Arsenal fans

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsene-wenger-stan-kroenkes-perfect-7823183

    Excerpts:

They had paid for their tickets, anyway. And that is all that matters to Kroenke. That and having a manager who makes sure there is £200m in cash in the bank, who doesn’t fritter away hundreds of millions, who, essentially and primarily, carefully looks after one of Stan’s many assets.

After all, Kroenke has £725m ranches to buy.

Consciously or not, what the Arsenal fans who left their places empty were doing last week was making a statement about Wenger’s management.

He is managing the club for its owner, not for its fans.

It is the Rams and the move to LA that is occupying most of Kroenke’s time and effort right now.

No wonder Wenger’s position is under intense scrutiny in every quarter other than in the only one that matters – Kroenke’s.

Stan’s “trophies” are the £1.25bn arenas, the £725m farms in Texas.

    Silverware appears incidental.

Kroenke is not daft, he knows investment in the Arsenal squad is essential if it is to remain in Europe’s elite. However, you suspect there will not be any sort of lavish spending spree any time soon.

Will Wenger push for it? If he doesn’t, there will be the unlikely scenario of one of the club’s greatest managers losing credibility in the eyes of diehard fans.

Does Wenger look after Kroenke’s business vision at the expense of his standing with the supporters?

Arsenal, under Kroenke, HAVE spent money, but not the sort of money spent by other European giants.

erm. i don’t know. arsenal fans weren’t upset with wenger when they were winning premier league titles and going undefeated for a whole season.

i think mostly they’re upset that kroenke didn’t jump at the chance to sign klopp when he became available. or maybe they wanted guardiola. but i like wenger. i think he’s quality. and i actually like the fact that his strategy isn’t to outspend every other team in europe. that was his strategy before kroenke became majority owner.

i don’t like kroenke for a lot of reasons but i don’t necessarily fault him for his coaching hires. in fact, i would be on board with giving fisher an extension. making a change just to make a change isn’t going to necessarily make things better especially when they’re now going to be developing a first round qb.

and as far as arsenal goes, spending money just to spend money isn’t necessarily going to buy championships. wenger has a proven track record of recognizing young talent and developing that talent. i know that a lot of arsenal fans earlier were upset that they didn’t hire klopp when he was available but i don’t know that he was for sure an upgrade over wenger or that kroenke would even have spent more money as a result. klopp is very much like wenger in that he is more a developer of young talent than a guy who just spends to spend.
