The past 2 weeks, 21 accepted penalties against the Rams measured 191 yards.
Both figures are the most in consecutive games in 10 season under Sean McVay, a span of time in which discipline has been a hallmark.
I just looked through them all, a few things to note:
*Penalties are way up across the NFL, as you may have seen. The most flags through Week 4 as far back as we can track, per ESPN Insights.
*Of the 21 for the Rams, they break down this way:
Offense 9
Defense 8
Special Teams 3
Coaching Staff 1
Pre/post snap 6
Run of play 15
*Of those, I think we can agree, two don’t even apply because of total silliness / NFL already admitted wrong: Wallace PI in Denver and Puka blind side in Philadelphia. However, there were surely some LA got away with that were not flagged.
*All phases responsible, though the bulk of the defense’s came in the disputed closing sequence in Denver.
*Both these games were on the road.
*Not as many dead-ball fouls as it felt like in real time, but those are the ones most likely to be eliminated as soon as Monday at home vs Buffalo.
