After the 49ers convert on third and 1, McCaffrey breaks off a 24-yard run, then hits the 1-yard TD. He’s scored one rushing, one receiving and one passing TD today. Rams came unglued.

Higbee has struggled with concentration drops going back to his rookie year. One of his big knocks coming out of college…that’s a big one. Could’ve ran all the way to Sacramento with the space in front of him.
    .
Rams inability to run the ball really hurts them in the red zone. There’s a reason Malcolm Brown was on a PS. There’s a reason Rivers was a UDFA. OL is part of the problem, but Rams don’t have a lot of talent at the RB position.

Can tell players on this team are extremely frustrated and it’s effecting their play. Need to be able to put negative plays behind you. The opponent has certainly played a part in that as well.
    .
Rams have been SO unlucky on turnovers. McCaffrey fumbled and SF able to come down with it. Rams missed on two potential INTs as well.

The Rams barely beat the Falcons, the Cardinals (how?), and a Panthers team with a third-string QB. There is absolutely nothing to be excited about with this team or roster right now. Sorry, not sorry. It’s bleak, and that’s being incredibly kind.

Van Jefferson returned and played 55% of the snaps, but did not catch a pass today.

looks like the rams offense will drop from #26 in offensive scoring to #29 come tuesday morning. i can honestly say that i didn’t think i would ever see a mcvay offense rank so low in scoring at any point in a season. brutal.
    .
the rams offense has scored an avg of just 16.4 pts per game against these mooks dating back to 2019, and today the rams will be hard-pressed to top 14.

Robinson pointed for the first down, which drew the flag. Taunting is a dumb penalty *no matter* who the team is.

This might not be the year for the Rams to go all-in again. Too many things to fix and they need draft picks to do it.

Our division isn’t great and the next 3 games are very winnable especially if we add some pieces.
    @ Tampa Bay
    Vs Arizona
    @ New Orleans

Sean McVay says he thinks Cooper Kupp’s ankle was the injury but isn’t sure. Said he’s “kicking himself” for Kupp being in and not calling to run the ball.
    .
McVay reiterates execution was not “in alignment” with plan or expectation on defense – line of scrimmage and back end.

Rams HC Sean McVay said postgame that he thought the injury for WR Cooper Kupp was an ankle, but didn’t have an update. Kupp said postgame he thinks things are pointing towards him “dodging a bullet” but further testing coming next couple of days.

us fans continue to complain about soft 2ndary and no pressure. Today the fans were right. Kendrick/Rapp/Scott looked bad. Couple sacks in the first 1/2 but no pressure in the 2nd. Still being gashed by runs up the middle.

Rams did solid job “manufacturing” run in lieu of traditional run game in H1. Eventually SF made them pay for it w/adjustment in H2 that also made life harder on receivers. Can’t have one element without the other if a team adjusts.

Bad day to have a bad day for Rams defense, too. Ethos of defense as intended means it *should* be able to shape-shift while still capping pass explosives. But neither adjustments nor execution matched that. Irony is ethos should = malleability.

I think the misconception (certainly saw it today) is in how aggressive they play certain covgs vs how those *should* in intended philosophy be able to tighten and match and change. Pass rush huge in allowing that. Argument I make is what is *possible* w/in scheme and why or

why not possible at times for current group to execute that way, what the factors are in that (yes including coaching and adjustments and yes including personnel and execution). It’s just not one thing at all times, it’s usually a few things at once – on good plays and bad plays.

1.) OL held their own most of the day against one of the NFL’s best fronts.
    2.) Stafford was solid.
3.) Rams REALLY unlucky with bounces of the ball (AKA Jimmy G errors…of which there were many)
4.) Stuck in the match without any running game. Weird for this style of game.

If you’re McVay, you cannot – cannot – justify calling a run play on third and long with 5:55 left (which 49ers saw as a white flag) and *then* decide to put your No. 1 player on offense on the field at the end of the fourth quarter. Unreal.

Sean McVay says just some tissue swelling w/ no structural damage for Cooper Kupp’s ankle.
    .
McVay: “I followed up with him right away, I felt like that was the best chance to end the game on a quick-hitting screen and in hindsight – I was trying to play it safe, and in hindsight if you said, ‘would you do it differently?’, I’d say, ‘100 percent, I would.'”

Sean McVay said RB Darrell Henderson Jr. “was having some breathing issues to start the game” with some after effects of the flu, which is why Ronnie Rivers was up first at RB vs. 49ers yesterday.
    .
Rams RB Ronnie Rivers, who started last night, is an undrafted free agent who was released by two NFL teams this yr before landing in Los Angeles. He said he was exploring working with his dad as a contractor for PG&E checking meters prior to the Rams signing him in September.

Darrell Henderson was still ill into Sunday’s game, said McVay, which led in part to Ronnie Rivers’ start.
    .
McVay  thought Rivers “did a nice job with the things he could control.” He added that there is a possibility that Kyren Williams is activated this week.
