Seems like a lot for him,
    but what do i know.

    Nice player, but hardly special.

With John Johnson leaving, the Rams will have changed defensive play caller for the fifth time in five years:
    2017 Alec Ogletree
    2018 Cory Littleton
    2019 Eric Weddle
    2020 John Johnson
    2021 TBA

Samson Ebukam’s snap count percentages dropped to around 25% for the last quarter of the regular season in 2020, and he then averaged about 12% in the playoffs. It was clear he was on the way out of LA.

Remembering back to the start of camp when the Rams’ staff and players were all in agreement on how great Floyd looked.

Really do prefer this over plugging in another big name on a 1-year deal. Floyd has a high football IQ, is extremely well-rounded & makes very few mistakes.

some of the other guys signed might have excelled a little more in the pash rush criteria, but Leonard Floyd is a top 5 run defender, he holds that edge beautiful & also does a really solid job in coverage and that’s where he was better than some FA’s

They kept the guys they really wanted. imo I wanted Floyd and Williams, too.

This probably means they are going to have to whack off ~$60 million. Maybe less it they backload Floyd. imo

Glad they retained Floyd, and sorry to see Johnson go. Very good player. They don’t have someone as good on the roster yet.

Only quibble with the Floyd deal is his age. He’ll turn 29 in September. I think that’s a bit old for a four-year contract, especially for that amount. I could see it if he had been 26 or so. You want that big fat contract all going toward peak years, if possible.

Of course, these days, who knows what those are. Brady is defying all the old rules and may well play into his late 40s. Still, if I could make the stars align just right, I’d save a big FA splash for someone a bit younger.

Rams should be very good on D again, but losing Johnson does hurt.

    Hope all is well, folks.

I am curious how they went from being 600 trillion over the cap, to signing Floyd.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

John Johnson posted a farewell to LA and Rams fans on Instagram

Hey, this guy kinda plagiarized Jared Goff’s goodbye letter to LA

The Panthers are signing ex-Rams DL Morgan Fox, per source.

    Tom Pelissero@TomPelissero
It’s a two-year, $8.1 million deal for Morgan Fox, who gets $7M guaranteed. Another pass rusher for Carolina.

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
Very much a player on the rise and very versatile, rushed from interior and perimeter. Career year last year, efficient production in rotational snaps. Another tough decision the Rams had to make in FA.

I am at a loss to understand how they could keep Floyd.
The guy had a super-star year. Oozes talent.
I was 99 percent sure, he was unsignable
    for a cap-strapped team.

Donald, Jalin Ramsey, and Floyd. Not sure any defense
can beat that for a top-3.

I would think they can still be a top ten
defense, now, no matter who else they lose.

Back to the Oline, now. Seems like the
season hinges on that. Can they build
    one, coach one.

    I am bummed about Fox.

I am not bummed about Ebukam or Johnson. I just didn’t see any way they could keep Johnson, and I couldn’t care less about Ebukam who was a JAG with the Rams. Pretty much same with Everett.

I’m amazed they kept Floyd, and I’d like to keep Hill, but will accept his loss. I was just hoping that Fox would be under the radar. He was a Value player, imo, and it isn’t the end of the world, but I was hoping he would stay. Carolina got good value at $4/year.

The #Browns are signing former #Rams CB Troy Hill to a 4-year, $24M deal, source said, adding to their defensive haul in free agency. The Youngstown native, who had three defensive TDs last year, returns home.
