Packers-Rams playoff history: Winner has gone on to Super Bowl

GREEN BAY (WLUK) — When the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams meet on Saturday, it will be only the third postseason meeting in the teams’ storied histories.
The first time the teams met in the playoffs was the 1967 Western Conference championship. The Packers won, 28-7, at Milwaukee County Stadium. That game is significant as the victory that launched the Packers into the Ice Bowl the following week, where they defeated the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field for their third straight NFL championship. The Packers then went on to win Super Bowl II to cap off Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay coaching tenure.
The Packers and Rams did not meet again in the playoffs until the 2001 season. By that time, the Rams were playing in St. Louis, and they hosted the Packers at what was then called the Dome at America’s Center. St. Louis routed Green Bay, 45-17, with Packers quarterback Brett Favre throwing six interceptions. The Rams went on to win the NFC championship, but fell to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVI — the first of Tom Brady’s six titles with New England.
The Packers are Rams hope that history repeats itself, with the winner making it all the way to Tampa for Super Bowl LV.
