Qualifications certainly matter in the football business but having internal advocates appears to be the best way to land big jobs. Buddies hire buddies or family members over unknowns. That makes it hard for “outsiders” to crack the code and earn admittance into the club.
The irony is those same people who land jobs in this manner will stand in front of players and promote the importance of a “meritocracy” within the team and on the field.
