St. Louis Spoils
The Rams are not a great team, but they sure know how to rattle their division rivals. They’ve already knocked off the Seahawks and 49ers, and will continue their upset streak against the team with the best record in the NFL on Sunday. The Cardinals are racking up the wins, but aren’t nearly as dominant as their record suggests. The Rams’ eighth-ranked pass defense will stump Carson Palmer in a game dominated by defense. Austin Davis will have a bad day too, but he’ll do just enough to eek out a win and complete the NFC West upset sweep.
You know the Rams could very well win this, depending on which Rams team shows up. But this is the problem with looking at numbers only…and then, not looking close enough.
The Rams 8th ranked pass defense? (?)
The Rams are 32nd in pass attempts against, meaning, they throw on the Rams least of any team. Even given that, they are allowing 7.9 yards an attempt, which is 27th worst.
Was it different in the last 2 games? Cause sometimes the averages don’t keep up with changes.
KC threw 29 times for 223 yards, SF threw 33 for 237.
So that’s on avg. 31 for 230, with a YPA of 7.4. Which would rank 31st for attempts, 12th for yards, and 16th for YPA.
So yeah a LITTLE better…but not the 8th ranked passing defense.
BTW interestingly, ARZ’s YPA is also 7.4 and also ranked 16th.
