RAMS SPECIAL TEAMS TOUCHDOWN‼
Texans coughed up the ball and Roger Carter Jr. recovers it for the TD 🔥pic.twitter.com/eV10HiZjK0

znModeratorGreg Beacham@gregbeachamLance McCutcheon makes another long catch down to the Texans 11, but he can’t get out of bounds and the Rams are out of timeouts so this game ends with a 24-20 win for Houston. The Rams’ dream of an unbeaten preseason dies..SeattleRams@seattlerams_nflWolford seemed fine when Jared Goff was the standard, but it’s becoming clear that the Rams need a better backup at QB with this current roster.
Is that Perkins? I don’t know, but I’m certain it’s not the wolf.
Richard Ramsey@Richard95549251
We can just predict this….Wolford is getting crushed by this awful OL against their first team D. Texans will put in backups in the 2d half and Bryce Perkins will light it up. How does McVay fairly judge these two qb’s in that scenario?Rams Brothers@RamsBrothers
We are not sitting here saying “Logan Bruss is awful” with some of the Texans starting defensive line out there, right? He’s also playing along side of Bobby Evans, who is struggling mightily.Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
Texans already have 4 sacks tonight. Believe two of them were allowed by Logan Bruss.Blaine Grisak@bgrisakDTR
The OL is struggling out there. Wolford just doesn’t have much time outside of quick game. Rams punt and Houston will take over.Just a reminder that Houston currently has most of their starters out on the field while the Rams are playing their backups at best. Neither team unleashing their full playbook, but Rams looking like the better group.
Lance McCutcheon led Rams receivers with 51 yards on two catches…
but Brycen Hopkins sneaking in with a game-high six catches in the first half. Strong showing for Hopkins!
·
1hFirst half standouts:1. Lance McCutcheon
2. Jonah Williams
3. Robert Rochell
4. Brycen Hopkins
5. Terrell Burgess69RamFan
McVay better bump up Perkins as the number two QB.
Woolfie sucks!!!
Perkins just keeps on making plays.
He has a feel for the pocket.
While Woolfie can’t see over the OL and runs out the pocket,
or doesn’t move up into the pocket when there is a hole either to pass or run.
Where as Perkins, can run out or stay in the pocket, and move up either to run or pass.

Well for me, what Stafford did in the 4th quarter during the post-season run, is equal (or surpasses) what Kurt did.
Yes absolutely Stafford did it in the post-season games after Arizona (which was a blowout). 3 consecutive comeback wins. With the defense sealing 2 of them but still, you have to score.
We knew Stafford was good, but, there was no way to know how good…till he did that. All with a spotty elbow.
6 comeback wins total for 2021.
znModeratorBack to Gabriel. My memory of him is of defensive linemen and linebackers draped all over him as he still gets the pass off.

znModeratorAlways thought Bulger was a lot better than he was given credit for by too many fans . . . caught up in the crazed football warz of that time.
Goff? He’s an arm-kink away from being almost as good as Stafford, in my view. Best chance to have fixed that was McVay’s first season, but he soured on Goff all too soon and basically threw him under the bus. Which was hard to do, given that Bettis had retired and wasn’t in town. ;>)
+1
I have nothing to add on the Gabriel discussion, he was before my time as a Rams fan, never saw him.
znModeratorTier 3 on this list is pretty high. Everett when he was doing well and Bulger before the OL got him Bulgerized were very good, top 10 qbs. (Top 10 in a given season, not across all NFL history.)
I have a vote for the best back-up. I don’t count Green or Warner or Bulger as back-ups, they just happened to be starting qbs in the back up role, which is not the same as a career back up.
My career back up vote goes to Jamie Martin. He had no arm at all but very good qb smarts. He had 7 starts with the Rams and in those 7 starts, had 3 comebacks/game winning drive games.

znModeratorThe Rams play the Texans this Friday, they won’t see them in the regular season for most likely a few years, after their victory in Houston last year.
What a play here from the last matchup where the Rams defense was flying around like a pack of Lions! Gaines, AD, and Ramsey! pic.twitter.com/R6BI4cofyD

znModeratorJourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigueI asked Sean McVay about backup QBs plan through this preseason game, and he said John Wolford will play first half of Friday’s game. This is a different approach than last year when Bryce Perkins closed it out solo, & McVay indicates they’d like to get Wolford some live work.

Cool tidbit from scrimmage: The starting safeties requested extra bench because during games they like to huddle together and scout themselves and each others’ previous snaps before coaches bring over the film tablets, and wanted to copy that vibe while second team was in today.Matthew Stafford again a full participant for the first-team in today’s scrimmage. McVay said he had “great energy, great command…threw the ball incredibly accurately…Really activated all parts of our pass game.” (Can confirm)
Jake Funk just blocked a punt, pulled into his chest and took it to the house. Huge celebration from Hoecht and others on special teams.
Cam Akers, Darrell Henderson both out here working to the side with athletic trainers. With a few weeks left until the opener, I’m not yet overly concerned about either – but certainly something to monitor.
No surgery needed for DL Bobby Brown, per McVay. He is allowed to rehab on site.
Jeremy Fowler@JFowlerESPNThe soft-tissue injury for Rams RB Cam Akers is not considered serious, I’m told. Rams taking preventative measures by holding him out of preseason practices but that’s the extent of it.
znModeratorInteresting situation developing at Rams, where RBs Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson are both dealing with soft-tissue injuries per Sean McVay, who wants to hold them out until "both of them are able to go at full speed, 100% with no restrictions" https://t.co/Ni5yL6kHug

Last year the rams kept 10 OL, this year they can keep 9 Joseph Noteboom, David Edwards, Brian Allen, Coleman Shelton, Robert Havenstein, Logan Bruss, AJ Jackson, Tremayne Anchrum, Bobby EvansTom@TL_LARams
Making the Rams as a UDFA DB is a massive uphill challenge. Not only do you have a lot of drafted players there, but also guys like Grant Haley that have years of NFL experienceRams Brothers@RamsBrothers
When Matthew Stafford started deflecting questions about the pain in his elbow, it should’ve been an indication that he’s fine. There’s just concern around longevity and managing it through the lengthy season. All reports are overwhelmingly positive from the scrimmage today.

znModeratorLance McCutcheon starred on Saturday, but his path to the 53 will be difficult.
Rams have
1. Kupp
2. Robinson
3. Van
4. TuTu
5. Skowronek
6. PowellUnless Jacob Harris is moved to TE, that's 7.
7 wide receivers is a lot on a 53-man roster and the top-6 seems like locks.

znModeratorBut a block just means he can’t see my tweets, right? It doesn’t delete his tweets, or prevent other people from seeing them. I don’t know. I’m still unclear on all the twitter functions.
You control what you can control. If you block him he can’t respond to you so as far as the rest of twitter is concerned, there’s nothing to see from him that would involve you.
Don’t overthink it. Just block people that pester you. Block and done. Not blocking them gets taken as an invitation to pester you more.
I don’t even remember who it is I have blocked. I just blocked them, and voila, no more problems.
