5. Los Angeles Rams (0-1)
Preseason ranking: 3

Rookie who stood out: LB Keir Thomas
Only four rookies played Thursday against the Bills, and Thomas, a rookie free agent from Florida State, was the lone first-year player to play a non-special-teams snap. This is not really surprising, given that the Rams’ first draft pick was in the third round, and that top selection, guard Logan Bruss, tore an ACL during a preseason game. Cornerback Cobie Durant, linebacker Jake Hummel and running back Kyren Williams each played on special teams, with Williams injuring his right ankle on his one snap. He has a high ankle sprain that required surgery and will sideline him for six to eight weeks. — Sarah Barshop
znModeratorPrevious rank: No. 2
That’s not how the start of a title defense is supposed to go. On a brutally steamy night in Los Angeles, the Rams got run out of their own building by a Bills team that looked like the better, hungrier group. There was no one single culprit in the 31-10 beatdown: Matthew Stafford threw three interceptions, the offensive line was manhandled, Aaron Donald was neutralized, and the secondary surrendered too many big plays. After the game, Sean McVay said his squad had been humbled on a night that began as a celebration: “We weren’t ready to go. I take a lot of pride in that, and that’s on me.”

znModeratorPoor Rams. They don’t play their starters during the pre-season in order to avoid injuries. They then get injuries anyway, and then in game 1 appear out of sync and unprepared on top of it.
znModeratorSome big plays from Rams legends @AllHands81 @IsaacBruce80 and @sj39 led to the Rams victory over Atlanta in 2007. Hope the Rams get a big performance from numerous offensive stars this Sunday! pic.twitter.com/pGS2J2kklM

znModeratorBeautifully executed game-winner by the Commanders' offense. Knew blitz was coming, brought TE in to block, good job picking up the blitz. Looks like full slide right. RB picks up DB.
McLaurin gets doubled. Perfect throw and great catch on out-and-up to Dotson. pic.twitter.com/C6ruoDs43C

znModeratorIt was one of the biggest questions out of Week 1. It took over Twitter and fantasy boards: Where the hell was Allen Robinson?
I spent the week digging into exactly that, with Rams players and coaches, schematic context, and data.
It’s fixable. How? https://t.co/geyrsSDCCY

znModeratorMeanwhile pretty much every western ever made–for cinema or tv–has 100% white cattle herders ie. cowboys.
Historians tell us that up to 25% of actual working cattle herding cowboys were black.
I wonder if the same people complaining about black elves and mermaids complained about all white cowboys.
“I wonder,” heh heh. 😎

znModerator#Chargers TE Gerald Everett caught back-to-back passes for 7 and 26 yards and was gassed. He motioned to be taken off the field, but the Chargers were going tempo.
Next play: Ball once again comes Everett's way. He doesn't show much effort. Pick-6.pic.twitter.com/t6wSOUhwfy

znModeratorJourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigueRaheem Morris was the interim HC of the Falcons in 2020. His comments today on facing them Sunday are worth a read:.
znModeratorRampage2K-
after watching the All 22…..
ok, I’m gonna chalk this one up to not playing ANYBODY in preseason…..This team just didn’t look ready or in sync at all….OL was just slow af compared to Bills DL, Stafford was making poor reads and decisions, RB’s not seeing the right holes, just a mess in general across the board including game plan and play calls. Robinson was open several times btw
Defense wasn’t much better…Bills simply took what we gave them with a dink and dunk offense 95% of the time….. Ramsey was picked on, Donald was nullified and Wagner looked slow and was a nonfactor….Not what you want to see from our big 3 on defense.
I only watched about one and a half quarters, so this isn’t a full game report, but I couldn’t take it anymore…..and it only got worse in the second half

I’m expecting a much sharper and focused team on Sunday

znModeratorJourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigueLT Joe Noteboom is able to participate in some capacity at practice today, some hardware on his right leg.
znModeratorBlaine Grisak@bgrisakDTRIn his last six games, Akers has 75 carries for 175 yards, averaging 2.3 ypc. He’s averaged 2.0 ypc or less in four of those games. It is possible that Cam Akers isn’t in Sean McVay’s ‘dog house’, but instead McVay saw Akers’ ineffectiveness since coming in at the end of last season and just prefers Henderson?Stu Jackson@StuJRamsRams head coach Sean McVay said they’re still taking things “a week at a time” with WR Van Jefferson (knee)

znModeratorThis will be the 1st Steelers-Patriots game without either Big Ben or Tom Brady since Dec. 6, 1998.
The starting QB matchup that day was Kordell Stewart vs Drew Bledsoe.
The coaches were Bill Cowher and Pete Carroll.

znModeratorThis offense doesn’t need any sort of overhaul — just tweaks that McVay has implemented in the past to give them a jump start. Expecting to see all of it against Atlanta.

znModeratorWTH is that gorilla thing? I’ve never seen that before in my life. I must have somehow copied the wrong tweet.
It’s a good one! Here’s what happened. Your tweet would not display. So I clicked on it and that’s what came up. I then re-copied it, and edited your post to put it in again so it would work.
I thought I was just making visible what you had originally put there.
So either as you said you mis-copied in the first place, or I somehow screwed up.
But I like the gorilla post either way.
znModeratorSeattleRams@seattlerams_nflThe Seahawks won, so give them credit for finding a way, but whew.. They had everything go their way. Gave up 433 yards to the Broncos, and didn’t do anything offensively after halftime. It took two fumbles from the 1, a number of dumb penalties, and a terrible decision to win
znModerator"I'm able to go out and just have confidence in my play."
