I am not playing my veteran-star-QB, behind ‘that’ Oline with no Cooper Kupp, and ‘that’ assortment of skill players. I aint do’in it. Course if i were to do it, every pass play would be a 3-step drop and a 5 yard route. w v

2 more OL out including Jackson. I think that makes 12 or 13 they’ve played. This is crazy.

Instead of watching the game we might as well watch videos of Vesuvius destroying the population of Pompei.

since wk 3 the titans are the #1 ranked defense in offensive points allowed (altho they’re also the #21 ranked scoring offense since wk 3). that said, outside of the chiefs, the titans have faced one very soft sched since wk3…

Rams rule out 2 starting offensive linemen for Saints game. L.A. might start three players on the OL who weren’t on an NFL team at the beginning of the season, with Matthew Stafford expected to return at QB

    Greg Beacham@gregbeacham
The Rams currently have 6 offensive linemen on their roster who can play Sunday. 3 of those 6 weren’t on the team in Week 1. The Rams have 7 offensive linemen who are on IR or too injured to play Sunday.

The Rams are -0.18EPA/play on early-down runs, and -0.11EPA/play on early-down passes (No. 32). OC Liam Coen today said on specifically early-down runs, “if you end up going negative or 0 (on the down), it’s just tough to gain confidence running it. If you run it on first down…

then you’re now second and 10, as a play-caller and as an offense sometimes you’re like, ‘well, we could’ve just thrown it and gotten the same down and distance.’ You go back and forth on some of this, are you gonna hand it off or are you gonna throw it? … In the flow of the

game, you have to go with what’s working. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t. That sounds pretty simple; it’s definitely something we want to continue to work on but we’re not gonna bang our heads against the wall and run for 0 (yards).”

Rams WRs coach Eric Yarber always brings the energy with his group. But with higher stakes, and without the player he calls “Super Cooper”, Yarber visibly (and audibly) dialed the intensity up at practice today. Objectively very fun watching him coach.

Jalen Ramsey was boldly asked “what’s up with Allen Robinson?” His response: “I don’t know, to be honest with you.”

Are the o-line injuries worse than the worst year in St. Louis yet?

The worst year before this was 2007. I would say that at this point 2022 is worse than 2007 was.

The Rams offensive line continues to be slammed by injury. Chandler Brewer played through a Grade 3 MCL suffered in-game. He’s having surgery, 4-6 weeks. LT Alaric Jackson had blood clots and has to go on medication, out for the season.
    .
The Rams expect to get David Edwards back. Otherwise, OL once again in flux

Well, Kupp is having surgery, but they say out 4 weeks.

I don’t think developing QBs is something McVay is good at or has the patience for.

I think that’s true. That was the word out of Washington too, from way back. He’s not a qb coach. With Stafford he is a collaborator, which is a different thing.

It will be important to see how Rams handle this. Shelton was back from high ankle after 5 weeks as OL. Rams have 8 games left. Kupp needs to heal, but if you totally shut him down now you’re telling rest of team how you feel about postseason chances…in W11.

First drive: 8 run, 5 pass. Stalled, but some momentum. After that, what in the world was the plan? The only way the Rams moved the ball was Wolford running around and heaving it toward Higbee. No jet sweeps, no reverse, no even seeing what Kyren could do (until the end).

but I have no idea how McVay is supposed to do anything with this grouping. It’s like watching a preseason game. For me it is pointless to get upset about a team playing 2nd stringers as well and backups to the backups backups. I’m not even upset about the lack of rushing attempts.

I agree. It’s a decimated OL. It looks to me like the coaches have no confidence in it. Not sure what they’re supposed to do about it. Wolford of course is no solution himself. I actually never thought that much of him.

Multiple sources said that after initial testing on Cooper Kupp’s ankle, he appears to have avoided a worst-case scenario with the injury. Important to remember, though, that he’ll go through more testing in the coming days for a clearer picture of the situation.
    .
What a reversal of fortune. I knew this season would be a challenge for the Rams but this result so far is mind boggling.
    .
Nick Scott took the time postgame.

“They got the lead, we’re trying to play aggressive. Missing tackles, effort plays, can’t really correct that other than being better the next snap. With that (Moore) catch; tough situation. We’re playing 0, got a guy (Long) on an island and

telling him to be great. That’s the NFL. D-Lo had a very nice play on that same concept earlier in the game. That’s two NFL players going at it … D-Lo, I know he’s holding himself accountable for that. … there’s plenty of opportunities where defense has to step up and make

a play, and we didn’t do that. We gotta be better at that.”

Brian Allen, on juxtaposition between first-series script plays and off-script plays: We did a great job on that drive running the ball, opening up stuff in the pass. Methodically moving the ball down the field. We gotta figure out ways to score TDs. Teams who kick FGs in this

league have a hard time winning. If we get down in the 10, 15, we gotta score. … just gotta run the ball efficiently the whole game. Can’t do that, they’re not gonna respect our play-action stuff that’s married with it. … I could say 10,000 things right now. Don’t want to

    make any excuses.

Following up, are rush yards there to be had?
Allen: It’s hard to give the play-caller confidence if we’re not doing it consistently. And it’s on us to give (McVay) that (confidence).

Missed tackle in space on third and 17 to set up fourth and 3 looms large, gotta say. We’re looking at Rams trying to tie this game this drive if that tackle sticks. Not the only thing, but a big one. And then the TD. Brutal.

Will they win another game? w v

Sure. If the OL injuries stop and the unit settles down. They get Stafford back. They can win some games.
