Can they justify their holding power? Can they justify holding the temporary lease on power we theoretically gave them — and theoretically should be able to revoke?

No. They can’t. Not within light years.

No, they can’t. They clearly have what Chris Hedges called a “horrifying desire for power and domination, not a commitment to a rational society.”

All over the world this American…’thing’ (deep-state, corporotacracy,
national security state, whatever, blah blah) is doing murderous-secret things. Secret. And. Murderous. Often through intermediaries like Saudi Arabia.

An empire of blood, built on secret systems.

Meanwhile, Americans discuss whether football players should be kneeling or not.

I dunno, BT. I’m not sure any or all of that would come close to 26,000 actual bombs dropped. But, I dunno. I would like to know. But of course as american citizens we are not allowed to know what our CIA/deep-state is really doing and who it is murdering on our behalf.

Could be Trump is a bigger mass murderer than Obama. Maybe Obama is the bigger mass murderer. Its debatable at this point.

    WV,

Trump started with Obama’s baseline. There was no rollback of military action when he took over. From that point, he actually increased troop levels in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, as mentioned, and he added dozens of new fronts on the so-called GWOT.

How could he NOT drop more bombs and kill more civilians? Add to that, his relaxation of military rules of engagement, because he said, repeatedly, that our military had been previously handcuffed due to PC. Translation? Don’t worry about civilians as much as before.

Throw in a huge shift in Justice Department goals, methods, “enemies,” etc. Gloves off for migrants, minorities, inmates, dissidents, etc.

Again, I would be completely shocked if the Trump era did not cause a major spike in killings and maimings of the innocent, domestically and internationally. It would defy logic, common sense and everything we know about right-wing ideology, the GOP and Trump himself. And I say this knowing full well that Dem-controlled governments had obscene levels of this as well. Trump is worse. He and the GOP are worse.

    ================

Well you may be right, BT, but i havent seen any numbers. I’d like to see some actual stats on how many bombs Trump dropped.

Granted, i have no idea where the Obama 26-thousand number came from or how accurate it really is 🙂

And that is essentially my 2017-Continuing-never-ending-complaint — that we dont know WTF our government is actually doing. Layers and layers and layers of lies and lies and more lies. CIA-lies, NSA-lies, Corporate-PR-lies, Pentagon-lies, Presidential-lies, etc, etc, etc.

This American system jumped the shark a long time ago. We dont control it, and we dont have any say in what it does. We have a tiger by the tail. And we are blindfolded as well.

PS — …also, fwiw, just because Trump “increases military spending” in this or that area, does necessarily mean he is actually ordering the killing of more actual-humans. There may be some differences between Trump’s body count and Obama/Clintons. We have no idea how many people Obama or Trump are actually killing each and every day. We dont know. I’d like to know. I wish the american people wanted to know. But they dont.

Now it goes to the Supreme Court.

That would be the same court that gave us Citizens United, right.

Titans fire Mike Mularkey in surprise move

Matt Patricia near certain to be named Detroit Lions coach

Josh McDaniels a virtual lock to be named Colts coach

Ownership was what was keeping Mularkey in place. They promoted him when Whisenhunt fired. But QB development stalled. Passing game weak

Titans felt like needed some new coaches and ideas on offense. Mularkey is very loyal to his guys, which is admirable in cut-throat business

    .

    ================

It’ll be interesting to see how McDaniels and Andrew Luck work together.

At any rate, its all about the Division to me. San Fran, Seattle, Arizona.
Rams gotta make better moves than those three organizations.

Now that Brady is nearing the end there’s finally hope for other teams. Its like when M.Jordan finally left the NBA.

Though, i dunno about R.Quinn. To me, he’s the trickiest decision. How can you count on a guy with a bad back?

I hope the Aaron Donald thing doesn’t drag on and on. Just sign him.

I would be shocked if the numbers of civilian dead had not seriously increased under Trump, over the already unconscionable and indefensible levels under Obama. I can’t see how it’s even possible that they haven’t.

    Some reasons why:

The US military is fighting terrorism in 76 countries around the world — here’s where

    1. Trump increased troop levels in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and added brand new fronts in Africa and Asia.

    2. He loosened “rules of engagement” protocols for the military (and domestically, for police, border agents, etc.), mocking previous rules as “PC.”

    3. He increased defense spending, with more increases in the pipeline.

    4. His ICE and Justice Department have been far more aggressive in going after migrants — inside and outside the country.

    5. His Justice Department has been far more aggressive in the war on drugs, as well as going after dissidents, especially those who protest against Trump.

Also, Trump’s bizarre blind eye toward everything Russia made this far more likely:

Syria and Russia’s latest offensive has killed 177 civilians in 2 weeks

I dont like the Eagles for some reason i cant even understand. Just dont like’em.

So that means…what? I have to root for the Vikings?

Well maybe. Why not see the Vikings lose ANOTHER super bowl. They’ve lost, what, four out of four so far?

Course, that would make me a Pats fan, in the Super Bowl.

    Maybe I’ll watch Heidi, again.

Yeah, i think about that broad issue every single day. How do we compare Presidents? One thing i think about is — How many humans did they kill?

Obama dropped 26,171 Bombs in 2016 alone (I know you know this).
How many innocents did he kill(murder)? Will Trump even come close to that number at the end of his first year?

Then again, Trump’s policies are increasing climate-change and pollution so his policies will lead to more deaths of ALL living things (biosphere), more extinctions, etc. But how do we measure such things?

I wish we were smart enough to kinda have a running total of all life-forms, US Presidents were responsible for terminating. A scoreboard. Id like to see that.

Eh, that croc wasn’t ‘chasing’ the swimmer. It was following the swimmer. The word use is important because ‘chasing’ implies intent to harm. The croc could have just been curious. Crocs can swim much faster than that and would be doing so if it definitely wanted to make a meal out of the swimmer.

Still, a wise move by whoever frightened the croc.

    ============

Sure maybe an ‘elite’ crocodile could swim faster, but you dont even know that, that was an elite crocodile. Coulda been a ‘complimentary’ crocodile.

As the crocodile-hunter once said, “a crocodile is, what his record sez he is.”

Ok, see to ME, this is bad parenting. Very bad decision-making.

“….“My son looked at me and asked, ‘Can I do that?’” Steve recalled.
Steve had seen some crocodiles on the banks of the river. He also knew the flow of the river could be unpredictable and potentially dangerous to a boy putting a higher premium on fun than safety. “But I told my wife that I’m going to let him do it,” Steve said. “I didn’t want him to be afraid of anything, and he did it….”

Well then you will never raise a playoff qb for a son. Or daughter for that matter.

They must not totally trust his health, otherwise I’d think they would just sign a long term deal.

I agree — LT would be my number one priority. A guy that could fill in for Whitworth or Havenstein.

After that…well…I’m never against drafting pass-rushers….but I’m sure Wade knows what he needs.

I think there is New England, and then there’s about six or eight teams in the next level, and the Rams are in that second level. Which is great.

But its also great for those six or eight other good teams. Lots of good teams in the NFL and all of em can make the Super Bowl.

Barring injuries, the Rams should be in the hunt the next few years.

They still need depth and a few pieces and good-health. LT is a big concern. Depth behind Whitworth.

“….Trump spends his entire day in phone calls with a narrow circle of cronies and watching cable television, interrupted by occasional meetings with his staff and cabinet, during most of which Trump talks and does not listen. In a particularly lacerating passage, Wolff writes:

“Here, arguably, was the central issue of the Trump presidency, informing every aspect of Trumpian policy and leadership: He didn’t process information in any conventional sense. He didn’t read. He didn’t really even skim. Some believed that for all practical purposes he was no more than semi-literate. He trusted his own expertise—no matter how paltry or irrelevant—more than anyone else’s. He was often confident, but he was just as often paralyzed, less a savant than a figure of sputtering and dangerous insecurities, whose instinctive response was to lash out and behave as if his gut, however confused, was in fact in some clear and forceful way telling him what to do.”…
