nittany ramModeratorWell, when I tried handing off to Gurley, turns out, I was too slow. So then in spite of swearing up and down that he would never trade me, Fisher made a swap with the Rams Huddle forum. That’s how Nittany ended up with them. But it blew up on them though, because Nittany may be the only guy I’ve heard of who melted down just doing hand offs.

I know. Embarrassing, right?
And scouts said I had the grace and savvy of a young Steve Dils at my pro day.
nittany ramModeratorLyser… is that a Rams vibrator in your avatar???
Yes, sir. Either that or a pot pipe. You decide, I’d be proud to own either.
Interesting how Mac’s mind went right to vibrator, huh?
I’ll be sure to note that in the ‘poster profile’ I maintain on all the members of this board.
nittany ramModeratorI can’t believe there were 29 CBs better in coverage than JJ last season.

nittany ramModeratorAccording to Fisher, the Rams have had no internal discussions about Peyton Manning. Didn’t say they weren’t interested in Manning if he doesn’t retire, just that they haven’t discussed it.
nittany ramModeratorMack: I get the love for Bernie. I do. Of all those running for President -Republicans and Democrats-he would be the only one I would ever invite over for drinks and dinner. He is so genuine and loveable he would be a wonderful guest and conversationalist. OTOH I would not have wanted LBJ as a dinner guest since I wouldn’t know what he was saying was truth or not. But in times of crisis I would want him to lead as opposed to Sanders. But I do get the lover for the latter. I share it.
The biggest crises facing us today pertain to the environment. I can’t think of any candidate running today who has addressed that issue as much as Bernie. No one else is even talking about it.
nittany ramModeratorWhatever they choose as their regular home and road colors, now that they are in LA, they are more likely to wear the old blue and whites as their throwback uniforms. To my knowledge, they never wore those after moving to Saint Louis.
Actually it’s been longer than that. They haven’t worn the blue and white uniforms since the final game of the 72 season.

nittany ramModeratorDunno why everyone is so worked up about QB, zn could hand off to Gurley.
That kind of thinking is how we ended up with QB’s like Dieter Brock. “Anyone can hand off to Eric Dickerson”….how’d that work out for us? 😉
nittany ramModeratorHas any other fanbase been this obsessed with its teams uniforms?
Have to admit that I’m obsessed to. But it’s interesting to me how much concern there is out there about what the uniforms will eventually look like. Now it’s even become the topic of a national radio/tv broadcast…
“One of the bigger topics of discussion other than Peyton Manning since the Rams have moved to Los Angeles have been their uniforms. Will they stick with what they have or will they go back to the blue and yellow “Ferragamo’s” or will they go back to the fearsome foursome blue and white?
The Rams’ uniform became a big topic Wednesday on The Dan Patrick Show hosted by Ross Tucker. Dave Dameshek of the NFL Network called in and gave his thoughts on the uniform situation and whats he thinks the Rams should do…”: http://ramblinfan.com/2016/02/10/dave-dameshek-on-rams-uniforms-i-want-the-ferragamos/

nittany ramModeratornot sure i want the rams drafting a receiver. don’t seem to have much luck with that position. i think they should go after one in free agency and draft other positions.
Drew Bennett. Laurent Robinson. Kenny Britt.
You really want to address WR through FA?
You could turn that around. Brian Quick, Chris Givens, Austin Pettis, Greg Salas, Marty Gilyard…
Perhaps it’s best if the Rams never attempt to acquire a WR by any means ever again?
They should stick to drafting RBs, DTs and DBs with every pick. They know how to do that.

nittany ramModeratorThat was hilarious. Can you imagine the competition between those two growing up? I wonder if Dad fueled that fire.
nittany ramModeratorAfter watching Foles implode last season, who in their right mind would want him?
Foles has had a great season, a mediocre season and a horrible season – in that order. Not the sort of trend you want to see in a QB.
I’m not even sure he’s worth a look at $1.75 million.
nittany ramModeratorAs great as Pace was, I always got the impression he wasn’t putting all of his effort into it. The game always came easy for him so maybe he learned early on that he didn’t have to try as hard as others? I don’t know. This is just a feeling I have – I can’t back it up, but I thought he was a little lazy. So I often wondered how great he would have been had he truly been committed to his craft.
That’s fair.
The big question mark about Pace always was, what if the Rams just stayed put in the 97 draft and picked Walter Jones instead of trading up. Jones got in before Pace.
Martz on the other hand said the GSOT couldn’t have worked without Pace, since they could just count on him to hold his own.
That of course doesn’t address the Walter Jones issue.
I think a lot of Rams fans have reserved feelings about Pace because of the holdouts.
Not taking sides on this, just speculatatizing.
.
Yeah I have nothing against Pace. And I’m not one to necessarily fault a guy for holding out whether under contract or not. Especially since playing this game often results in a drastically shortened life.
He was one of the best all-time, but I think he could have been THE best had he wanted to be.
nittany ramModeratorWhen asked if he was surprised about the Rams’ relocation to Los Angeles, Finnegan replied: “Not surprised. I knew it was coming two, three years ago. They had already said it was gonna happen. We knew.”
This statement has attracted a lot of attention out there.
Interesting, too, what he says about JL.
I’m skeptical about this. Who is the ‘they’ he’s referring to? Hard to believe anybody in the front office or coaching staff would disclose secret plans for relocation to the players.
He might have been guessing the Rams would move. The media and Grits 😉 had been speculating the Rams might move back to LA for several years. But at the time, that’s all it was…speculation. I doubt he or anyone else was ever given any hard information about the move though.

nittany ramModeratorBill Murray looks like a zombie.
And I can’t imagine he is a fan of the Jaguars. Why would he be? He was born in Illinois, and lives in Chicago.
How can you make that statement on a board full of nomads?
I was born in PA and live in VT yet I am a Rams fan.
Pa Ram and JackP were born in PA and live in Reading yet they are Rams fans.
zn was born in Heaven but was cast out and after a few millennia in Hell moved to Maine yet he is a Rams fan.
There’s more to fandom than geography, or you would be a Raiders or 49’ers fan.
Oh.
Right.
Let me amend that by saying there’s *usually* more to fandom than geography.
nittany ramModeratorI can’t believe someone got paid to put that article together.
February 3, 2016 at 12:32 pm in reply to: Rams & qbs in free agency (from RG3 to possibly Fitzpatrick) #38547
nittany ramModeratorNo thanks. At this point, I don’t think Manning can be effective for a full season anymore. He can still play well in spots like he did last week but he’s just not the player he used to be.

nittany ramModeratorHowever, if Vermeil coached the japanese fleet at Midway, they still would have lost.
So don’t overdo it.
Not if he had Aquaman on his side which, as most military historians agree, he would have.
February 1, 2016 at 9:52 am in reply to: simulator decides: 99 Rams were best superbowl team of all #38459
nittany ramModeratorI dunno. I think what made 99 better was that Vermeil was running it not Martz. That will be controversial, but it’s what I think.
Yeah, I think the 1999 team coached by Vermeil would beat the 2001 team coached by Martz.
However, the 2001 team coached by Vermeil would beat the 1999 team coached by Vermeil.
In addition, the 5th Panzer division coached by Vermeil would’ve beaten the 3rd Army coached by Patton at Bastogne.

January 31, 2016 at 11:35 am in reply to: have the Rams drafted well? Below average, average, good, very good? #38409
nittany ramModeratorThat’s not a “grade” though. You then have to factor in the quality of the players and so on.
Agreed. A draft that yields 2 superstars is better than a draft that yields 4 or 5 average starters. So it certainly can’t just be about percentage of players that make the roster – or even that start. That’s a factor but it doesn’t tell the whole story. There’s alotta’ stuff to consider.
nittany ramModeratorpan haus. that sounds delicious.
i love beef liver pate. are they pretty similar?
No not really. I can’t think of anything that’s similar to tell you the truth. I love pan haus but I was brought up eating it. I’m Pa Dutch (but not Amish) on my father’s side and my grandmother made all that German stuff. Most people I know don’t care for it.
Speaking of liver pate, I like liverwurst a lot, especially braunschweiger. It’s really good on bread with a spicy mustard.

nittany ramModeratorPan haus is also called scrapple. Generally you eat it for breakfast as a side dish. Some people put maple syrup on it but I don’t eat it that way. I like it fried so the outside is a wee bit crispy but the inside is still soft.
nittany ramModeratorAs for the slams…it’s not just the tone, it’s comments like this:
With any luck, Snead will locate the next Garrett Gilbert.
Ooo zinger Jeff. Ouch.
I thought he was being petulant, myself.
Yeah, I missed that last crack about Gilbert. That’s definately a slam.
And you do a nice takedown of Gordon’s Building for 2016 Hypothesis.
nittany ramModeratorI don’t know if it’s a slam so much. He doesn’t seem to be admonishing the Rams. He’s just putting two and two together.
nittany ramModeratorLasagna? I like lasagna. And, I am from NE. Southern NE, to be exact.
But still NE. So, I will bet you $5.00 that NE people, do, in fact, know about lasagna. And if $5.00 is too steep for you, a gentleman’s bet will suffice. Winner gets to pick next years QB not named Foles.
I would have to agree that people in NE know about lasagna. I live in Vermont and I have seen it on menus here.
However, I was born and raised in central Pennsylvania and what New Englanders don’t know about is pan haus, schnitz un kepp or fasnacht.
They don’t even know you’re supposed to eat pork and sauerkraut with mashed potatoes on New Year’s day?!
nittany ramModeratorWith Rivers i think the
Rams are immediately a super-bowl-threat.w
vBut look who he would be throwing to with the Rams.
True, but I think some of those receivers would look a little better with a guy like Rivers throwing to them.
nittany ramModeratorWhy no love for Mannion? I think Rivers / Keenum / Mannion would be just fine.
I have nothing against Mannion, and as invader says if he could be groomed to be the eventual replacement, that would be ideal.
However, I think it’s fair to say the odds of Mannion developing into a quality QB are 50% or less. That’s pretty conservative actually. So I agree with those who say draft a QB every year. Even if Mannion looks like he could be ‘the guy’ the Rams should constantly be bringing in QBs to evaluate and develop because the odds of finding a championship caliber QB are so low.
nittany ramModeratorhttp://www.chargers.com/news/2016/01/29/statement-dean-spanos
Dear Chargers Fans,
Today I decided our team will stay in San Diego for the 2016 season and I hope for the long term in a new stadium.
I have met with Mayor Faulconer and Supervisor Roberts and I look forward to working closely with them and the business community to resolve our stadium dilemma. We have an option and an agreement with the Los Angeles Rams to go to Inglewood in the next year, but my focus is on San Diego.
This has been our home for 55 years, and I want to keep the team here and provide the world-class stadium experience you deserve.
Everyone on both sides of the table in San Diego must now determine the best next steps and how to deploy the additional resources provided by the NFL.
I am committed to looking at this with a fresh perspective and new sense of possibility.
With deep appreciation for your years of support,
Dean A. Spanos
ChairmanJanuary 29, 2016 at 5:18 pm in reply to: Rams rumored to be interested in trading up for number 1 pick #38277
nittany ramModeratorOK, let’s say this is true… who is the pick, the QB from Cal?
I don’t know. The Rams moving up doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.
January 29, 2016 at 5:16 pm in reply to: Rams and Charges reach agreement about sharing Inglewood stadium #38275
nittany ramModeratorI’m holding out hope that this is just a move on Spanos’ part to force San Diego to react.
I don’t like the idea of the Rams sharing LA, let alone a stadium.
