nittany ramModeratorI see the Lakers just sold for 10 billion dollars. I wonder what the Rams are now worth ?
w
vMost valuable franchises.

nittany ramModeratorMcVay also praised Jackson’s transparency,
Christ, as if the blood clots weren’t bad enough!
Poor sap…
The best Left tackles are opaque is what I always heard. Obscure, even.
w
vYeah, the best have the consistency of a light maple syrup, which is necessary to pancake a defender so I’ve read.

nittany ramModeratorThis is just terrible, terrible, news. For Alaric personally and the Rams.
This is potentially Super Bowl derailing news.Sheesh…
Right now there is no expectation that the problem will persist into the season.
Look who shows up with a reply based on a rational and measured evaluation of available information.
Typical.
This is panic time.
How can you even call yourself a Rams fan?

nittany ramModerator“concept trigger”. Anybody know what that is? I dont think i have one. Anybody around here have a concept trigger?
w
vI think McVay basically means that Forbes can see the design of an offensive play pre-snap and as a defender knows what to do in response.
This is what the google AI bot says about that:
In NFL football, a concept trigger for a defensive back is a visual cue or pattern recognition that prompts a specific reaction or adjustment in coverage or pursuit. These triggers can be based on offensive formation, receiver release, or even the quarterback’s footwork
The above post should come with a concept trigger warning.
Do better.
nittany ramModeratorMy fear is that good health and a cake schedule keep the 49ers in contention for the NFC West title up until the end.
I think the Seahawks took a step back with Darnold at QB. I think Geno Smith is a better QB under pressure, and they didn’t do enough to fix their o-line, but they might have gotten better everywhere else.
I think the Cards will start fast then fade like they usually do.
nittany ramModeratorI totally would have assumed that OC, Rob Boras or Jeff Fisher would have done something to help Goff understand fronts and coverages during Goff’s rookie season. Sometimes it’s surprising to see how the sausage is made.
Boras was as green as Goff. He didn’t have a clue.
nittany ramModeratorAmazing Todd Gurley stat…
Since 2015, only two players have scored more rushing touchdowns than Gurley, who has 67: Derrick Henry (106) and Ezekiel Elliott (74).
Rushing touchdowns since 2015
Derrick Henry: 106 (136 games)
Ezekiel Elliott: 74 (135 games)
Todd Gurley: 67 (88 games)Henry and Gurley came into the NFL a year later than Gurley but both are still playing. Gurley, on the other hand, hasn’t played since 2020, spending the last four years in retirement.

nittany ramModeratorI’m betting the Rams will be able to get one of the top 5 QBs in college football with their 2 firsts in 2026 and their first in 2027.

I’ve tasted mayonnaise with bolder flavor than that prediction.
Maybe you weren’t paying attention.
I said top 5.
Yeah, that’s right.
As in one of the Top FIVE best QBs.
Not top 10. Not top 8. Not top 6.
Top 5.
That mayo’s tasting a little bolder now, isn’t it.

nittany ramModeratorSo Nittany was watching the draft podcast of a Seahawks enthusiast. How not surprising is that?
Please accept my apologies, Zooey.
As a Rams fan, I forgot how celebrating the agony of a Seahawks fan might offend those of us who are not Rams fans. It was insensitive of me to “punch down” like that.
In the future I will endeavor to remember you less fortunate fans of hapless franchises like the Seahawks, which isn’t even a real bird.
Oops. That was insensitive too, wasn’t it. Well, SoFi wasn’t built in a day. I’ll try to do better. It’s a process…
nittany ramModeratorSeahawks podcaster’s realtime reaction to Falcons/Rams trade.
Priceless…
nittany ramModeratorI think Fergusen and Paul are potential Pro bowlers.
The others can be solid to good role players. The exact sort of plsyers you need to complete a Super Bowl-worthy roster. Hard-nosed, selfless, “ready to run through a wall” kinda guys.
I like this draft.
Of course, the piece de resistance is the brand new shiny franchise QB they can get next year courtesy of Atlanta’s cluelessness.

nittany ramModeratorI happened to be late to get in my car for my short commute to work, and that was propitious because it allowed me to hear the SFO station go Full Meltdown for about a minute or so about the Rams’ trade. They hate it.
I will say this: the Rams next year will have the 32nd pick in the draft which is not high enough to draft Matthew Stafford’s replacement. I think we all agree that it is desirable to have a really good QB. Case Keenum and Nick Foles had some moments, but Matthew Stafford is preferable. So to draft a replacement for Stafford, or trade for one, that was going to cost the Rams a lot of capital.
IMO, they just acquired that capital, and it didn’t cost them much. They dropped from 26 to 46 in a draft where everybody in that range is rate more-or-less the same. So it’s a small sacrifice. Now the Rams are armed with 2 first rounders in 2026 which will be an attractive package to a team that doesn’t need to draft a QB. The Bears or the Commodores or whoever.
The Rams can trade their two number ones, and if if necessary, their #1 in 2027 to move up far enough to grab one of the best college QB’s next year.
I liked the idea of trading back and drafting a developmental QB with high upside like Milroe in the 2nd or 3rd, and who knows, maybe they still will, but I’d much rather get a more proven commodity like Manning, Klubnik, Beck, Nussmier, etc. next season. The Rams Super Bowl window remains wide open upon Stafford’s retirement if that happens.

nittany ramModeratorWelcome to the Rams, Arch Manning.
PS. Try to avoid catastrophic injury in your final year at Texas…
nittany ramModeratorPuka…saying things about Purdy. For some reason.
I agree with whoever that is. Puka should really STFU. I don’t have a problem with his opinion, but that’s the kind of thing one should keep to oneself.
He could be Brock’s teammate one day, if for no other reason.
Double thumbs up.
First he says he’s going to retire early and now he single-handedly gives the Rams’ hated rivals a rallying cry.
Puka’s mouth is reaching a Brenda Warner level of infamy.
I knew they shoulda cut Puka and kept Robinson.

nittany ramModeratorPro Football Focus’ Max Chadwick believes the Rams’ biggest issue remains at cornerback because of the team’s current depth chart of Darious Williams, Cobie Durant and Emmanuel Forbes Jr.
“The Rams have struggled to replace Jalen Ramsey since trading him to the Miami Dolphins two years ago,” Chadwich wrote. “None of the cornerbacks on their roster posted a 65.0-plus PFF overall grade last season.”
They are making GMing harder than it has to be. Just resign A Witherspoon already. Sheesh.

nittany ramModeratorI can’t watch any of these tribute/hi-lite videos yet. Too soon.
It must be painful for you to watch highlights of Kupp torching the Seahawks. It’s fine. Take your time.
Thanks for your understanding.
Kupp’s departure is hard for those of us who aren’t dead inside.
Sometimes I envy you souless types.
nittany ramModeratorI can’t watch any of these tribute/hi-lite videos yet. Too soon.
nittany ramModeratorLes Snead said the Rams are looking to find a trade partner for Cooper Kupp and while he didn’t rule out the receiver staying, he said that’s the “least likely” option.
Since one of the options is giving him his unconditional release, this just underscores the fact that Kupp’s career with the Rams is over.
When asked if the Rams approached him to redo his contract to make it cap friendly, McVay said “no”.

nittany ramModeratorThe senator flagged thousands of National Science Foundation grants for using words like “female” and “diversify.” A ProPublica analysis found numerous examples of projects caught up in his crude method for identifying research he calls “woke.”
————————————————————————
As an example of the above, Cruz flagged all grants in which the term “POC” appeared. Cruz assumed it meant “people of color”, but in medical jargon, it means “point of care” which is simply the location in which patients receive care such as medical procedures, lab tests, etc. So ignorance and racism have joined forces to halt potentially life-saving research.https://www.propublica.org/article/ted-cruz-woke-grants-national-science-foundation

nittany ramModeratorStafford is back! Yay!
Now the chances of the Rams winning the Super Bowl are 100%.
Prior to this, they were only 91.6%, which were their second lowest odds of winning the title in the Super Bowl era.
For you amateur historical statistology enthusiasts out there, their worst all-time chance to win was in 2009 (Spag’s first year). Their chances that year were a dismal 89.3%, and if I remember correctly, they almost didn’t win the Super Bowl that season.
nittany ramModeratorMaybe if you guys wanted the Pirates to be good, you should have built Los Angeles in Pennsylvania.
But you didn’t think of that, and now you’re crying.
Well, fiddly-i-doo.
We tried that, but other than the lack of parking, something just doesn’t look right.

nittany ramModeratorBaseball ended for me when the Pirates were forced to trade away Bonds, Bonilla, and Van Slyke because they couldn’t afford to keep them.
Teams with low payrolls might make the playoffs every year, but thats a case of those teams catching lightning in a bottle. They are one-offs. Outliers. They’ll only remain competitive until their key players’ contracts are up – like the Pirates during their Killer B era.
The teams with high payrolls (Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, Dodgers, etc) may not win it every year, but they have a chance to be competitive every year. They will always be in the mix because they can horde talent.
Anyone who doesn’t think the payroll disparity puts small market teams at a disadvantage has abandoned the path of wisdom, and should be publicly ridiculed until they weep.
