I think Seattle is an at-best average OL. They get by with it because of the combination of Lynch, the defense, and always being at the very bottom of the league in pass attempts. And, btw, in spite of being at the bottom of the league in pass attempts, they are also near the bottom of the league in sack percentage. That’s a bad combination.
I think Denver was better last year.
New England I am not decided on yet. They seem to have a lot of chaos on the line this year.
The Eagles? Maybe it was the injuries…Kelce, Herrmans, and Mathis all missed time.
A year ago at this time, the offensive line was one of the Eagles’ greatest strengths. It was a dominating unit that helped LeSean McCoy run away with the league rushing title and afforded Nick Foles enough pocket security to lead the league in almost every pertinent passing category. The five starters didn’t miss a single game.
That hasn’t been the case this season. Including right tackle Lane Johnson’s four-game PED suspension, the Eagles’ linemen have missed 22 starts. Left guard Evan Mathis missed seven with a knee sprain. Right guard Todd Herremans has been on injured reserve since early November with a torn bicep. Center Jason Kelce missed four games after needing surgery to repair a sports hernia.
The Eagles have had four of their five starters back together for the last six games. The only one missing has been Herremans, who has been replaced by Andrew Gardner.
But offensive-line coach Jeff Stoutland’s unit hasn’t played nearly as well as it did last year. Jason Peters, a six-time Pro Bowler, probably is going to be in the Hall of Fame some day. But this has not been one of his better seasons.
That is all for us to disagree. We have our opinions. I’m not sold on Pittsburgh’s OLine as much, because they have in my mind, is the best Head Coach in the NFL. Also, any OLine that has Doug Free on it, does not qualify for being top 10 worthy. Denver has the best LOT in the game with Ryan Claddy.
JackPMillerParticipantA player to me that is intriguing to me is Tyrod Taylor. I would not mind him as the backup to Bradford.

December 31, 2014 at 11:23 pm in reply to: Rams currently scheduled to pick 10th in NFL draft #15199JackPMillerParticipantRound 3 – Shane Carden QB ECU
Analysis: Well guys, here is the QB I draft. I’m not in favor of forcing a QB pick because it’s a need so I needed a QB I liked. After watching Carden, I think he’s the best guy after Winston and Mariota unless someone unexpected declares. Carden plays in a spread offense right now and exclusively takes snaps out of the shotgun so there will be an adjustment period. Carden will be playing UF’s strong defense in a bowl game so that should give us a good look at him if you haven’t seen him(January 3rd). When I turned on the film, I saw a guy who dealt with a leaky OL and managed. The biggest issues I saw with him are that he doesn’t seem to do a good job of feeling pressure off the edge(especially blind-side pressure) and he needs to improve his internal clock as he’ll hold onto the ball too long looking to make a play. That all said, I think he showed of a NFL caliber arm with solid mobility and threw the ball with accuracy. His deep accuracy was the biggest weakness I noticed as he tended to under-throw guys and at times, he put too much air under the ball. But he was forced to make a lot of throws into tight windows in the game I watched and never shied away from throwing the ball to his WRs in 1 on 1 match-ups even when they were well guarded. His WRs were not getting a tremendous amount of separation in some of the games but I noticed him making good timing throws and putting the ball where it needed to be. He was also willing to take chances which did hurt him at times but all around, he was a solid decision maker. On his arm strength, I saw him make 10-25 yard throws from the pocket to the opposite sideline with requisite zip. I think his arm strength is more than adequate. He’s an extremely tough and competitive player as I saw him take a number of hits due to his OL and he kept getting right back up. Not afraid to stand in under pressure and pull the trigger. A couple other small issues I had were that he tends to be overconfident in his athleticism and he needs to protect himself better when running. There were times where he tried to outrun the defense instead of throwing the ball away and he didn’t do it. He has solid mobility but he’s not Mike Vick. He needs to be smart about getting the ball out. And when he does run, he needs to slide or get out of bounds. He has a tendency to fight for yardage and try to make people miss or run over defenders. On a final note, while his footwork was generally good, there were some plays where he needed to set his feet as he rushed the throw and it hurt his accuracy. I also think his decision making was at its worst when he was on the run. He throws well on the run but he tends to try to be a hero and will force balls at times or throw late. He needs to do a better job of taking what the defense gives him. Still, this is the guy I’d take a shot on developing behind Hill and Sam as I think he has starter potential.I believe Hundley will go before Carden.
JackPMillerParticipantNot sure why, but I had this in my head, that if we don’t release Long, and I had a weird idea about hoping we resign Barksdale to play RT, move Saffold back to RG, Robinson would be the LT, and possibly move Jake Long to LG. Not sure if Jake would go for it, but it is an idea. Then all we need is a Center for the OLine,. Just something that has crossed my mind. Just get some depth at the OT spots. What are your thoughts?
JackPMillerParticipantI want Barksdale back. I feel it might be better to move Saffold to RG, and look for an LG in Free Agency, and hope for Barnes or Jones can take over at Center nextyear.
JackPMillerParticipantI think this is kind of like just after the 1998 season and the Rams were about to can Dick Vermeil. They forced him to make changes to his staff and to bring in Martz as the OC. I think Fisher is only fooling himself if he thinks the offense will be any better next season with Schottenheimer. There are at least 4 guys who are OCs that are better than Schottenheimer, and they are available. Trestman, Chudzinski, Mike Shanahan, Mike Martz.
Grits
Problem is, if the owner tells Fisher to make changes, Fisher may say “take this job and shove it,” or something like that. If Fisher would be let go, he would take his talents to Oakland or Chicago.

JackPMillerParticipanti don’t agree that it’s easy to fix an ol. like ag said. if it was easy, the rams would have done that by now.
i do agree that there are different ways of developing an offensive line.
as far as drafting one high, i think this happens to be the year that drafting one in the first round just makes sense. it’s supposed to be a strong year for the offensive line. there is no qb available beside mariota who will be worth drafting in the first round. no cornerbacks really that seem to be upper first round caliber. there’s landon collins i suppose at safety. maybe receiver. but i think 2014 was the year to draft a receiver. not 2015.
at this point. offensive line in the first round just makes sense. it’s a position of strength in the draft that would fill a huge need.
We are drafting 10th. The OT’s are not the issue, it is the interior OLine. I don’t see a Guard or Tackle worth taking that high, unless we trade down, which is possible, because we only have 5 draft picks, barring any comp picks.
JackPMillerParticipantI’d be shocked if he got by Washington, or the NY Jets. I would not mind taking him if he fell into our laps.
JackPMillerParticipantMy gut tells me, anything under 10 wins, next year, and we will be looking at a new Head Coach in 2016
JackPMillerParticipantThe difference is, Phillips was abusive toward women. I have not seen that with Winston. Winston’s issues, I believe is more wrong place at wrong time, those things he’ll learn from.
JackPMillerParticipantI have been thinking the same thing, have we improved. Seattle needs to win on Sunday for a bye. With Fisher, our record has gotten worse, 7-8-1, 7-9, to 6-10(maybe)? That is 20 wins in 3 years. No Head Coach would last that long. I know Fisher and company will be back, but if he does not turn this around quickly, Fisher and his staff will be gone. Nextyear he knows this team has to win at least 10 games, no excuses.
JackPMillerParticipantJack. You’re not the GM. For all you know … that is, REALLY know… every thing you list would be the worst possible way to approach it.
We’ll see.
…
Barksdale is not a problem. Jerry is a pretty good LG that would be good for us. Grabbing some depth at Guard in the 2nd round, is not a good thing. Plus, we desperately need a QB. Watching Hill and Austin was frightening. I don’t believe Sam is capable of playing a full season, no matter what. If Winston slides to us, we should nab him. This kid can play. We have to believe he is alot better than what we have backing up. If Sam can play for a year or two, without hitting the IR, which I doubt, but if he does, it is better for us, because we have two QBs. One we can hold off and groom if need to.
JackPMillerParticipantAnd then my question to you is,what will this rookie look like running for his life with no pass protection?
Resign Barksdale, move Saffold from LG to RG, and then sign a Guard in free agency, maybe a John Jerry. We should be fine. Wells will be cut, and Barrett Jones should be ready to take over at Center. On top, draft an OG in the 2nd round, with a Free Safety in round 3.

JackPMillerParticipantNot sure how anyone else feels, but I wanted to win these two games, not to have another losing season. I feel frustrated. It does not look like we have improved at all. Call it players, execution, coaching, etc. It feels like, as fans, we just can’t get over that hump. When it looks bright, at the end of the tunnel, we seem to hit a detour, or at least it feels that way to me. Again, not sure how any of you feel, but it is frustrating. I am always going to be a Rams fan no matter what, but this is the life of us Ram fans for the past 24 years, and we need to catch a break, like the 1999-2000 season.
December 20, 2014 at 2:36 pm in reply to: Breer predicting Cutler to Rams…others say, no it's to the Titans #14307JackPMillerParticipantI still think Tampa Bay could still be in the mix as well. Just saying. I believe it will come down to Tennessee and Tampa Bay. Tennessee as a slight favorite right now
JackPMillerParticipantThe dude can coach. Wonder why the players hate him so much
The players love him, but this has to do with him not getting along with the people upstairs. The bosses per say.
JackPMillerParticipantIf it was up to me, I’d trade down into the mid 20’s, if possible, and pick up an extra couple of picks, and draft Brett Hundley. I have us resigning, Joe Barksdale.
JackPMillerParticipantWell, for the sake of continuity on offense with the Rams, and for the sake of Schott as a coach…I hope either the rumor is not true, or that he is smart enough to have nothing to do with Washington.
I do believe he will get interviews. It is part of a process that goes around. I would not be shocked if the Bears make a call, as well, for an interview, and they have some talent on offense.

NHL Performance (by an individual) of the Year –JackPMillerParticipant1. Jameis Winston QB FSU – He may drop due to some character concerns
2. Zach Hodges OLB Harvard – I expect he will move up on the draft boards.
3. Kurtis Drummond FS Michigan State
5. Christian Lombard OG Notre Dame
7. Isaiah Fleming OLB Cheyney – Can’t have enough help on special teams.JackPMillerParticipantI just know that if they have to rely on a rookie QB in games like tonight, you can expect some big mistakes that can snowball big time. We don’t even know if Hundley or Winston will be any good in the NFL after getting years of experience.
I’m just saying, those guys are better options than Shaun Hill and Austin Davis going into nextyear.
JackPMillerParticipantAnd why do you think they can count on a rookie qb? Heck if anything, over the last few years (from 2011 on) the 1st round qbs on avg. have not done as well as the 2nd and 3rd round qbs.
BTW everyone who says Bradford will be back also says they will draft a guy in the 1st 3 rounds, so there’s really no argument here.
I look at it, as he would be better than what we have playing right now.
JackPMillerParticipantI really do like Brett Hundley, but you would be better off sitting him a year, and learning, some QB’s are like that. I’d be elated to get Winston. He reminds me more of Steve McNair, who had a strong arm, was told he was a little erratic himself coming out of Alcorn State. Vince Young was never Steve, as he never had the arm strength.
JackPMillerParticipantThis is the 15th time since the NFL/AFL merger that it has happened. Below are the previous shutouts

Back to Back Shoutouts in NFL History
How rare are back-to-back shutouts? The Cowboys became only the 14th team — technically the 1976 Steelers did it twice, so it’s 13 teams to accomplish it 14 times — to do it since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

JackPMillerParticipantI remember NOT wanting Mike Evans in the draft.
But it looks like he may be having a rookie of the year
type yearhttp://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Does-Mike-Evans-deserve-Rookie-of-the-Year.html
“….And he plays it adeptly. The 6-5, 231-pounder has caught 49 balls for 841 yards and eight touchdowns by using his large frame, physical style and ability to adjust to the quarterback’s pass.
“He knows how to control his body to position himself,” quarterback Mike Glennon said. “There have been times where you feel like the ball didn’t come out perfect, and it’ll end up being exactly where you wanted it.”….

Sammy Watkins has done well, but he’s not been a factor in
his last four games.Overall he has 51 receptions for 695 yards.
w
vEvans had the one great game where he had 200+ yards. Inconsistency has been an issues. Right now Kelvin Benjamin has been consistent all year. But the guy I am afraid that will may win Offensive rookie of the Year, but does not deserve it is, Odell Beckham. He is having a decent rookie year, but he plays in New York, and had that one handed grab that people keep talking about.

December 1, 2014 at 10:08 am in reply to: controversy: a few fans dropping the Rams because of the WRs's Ferguson gesture #12775JackPMillerParticipantSo I guess they are done watching the NFL as a whole? Every team had players that stood up and either talk about it to their local media, or did the gestures. Race was always part of it. I feel, if you are a true Rams fan, you would not have an issue with a player or players taking a stance, as long as it is not affecting the play of the game. This was during introductions, not the game itself. By the way, we won the game.

November 30, 2014 at 11:49 pm in reply to: controversy: a few fans dropping the Rams because of the WRs's Ferguson gesture #12748JackPMillerParticipantStL Police Officers Association condemns Rams display
Prior to Sunday’s game versus the Oakland Raiders, several members of the St. Louis Rams offense came out during pregame introductions with their hands up as they entered the field at the Edward Jones Dome.
Wide receivers Stedman Bailey, Tavon Austin, Chris Givens and Kenny Britt and tight end Jared Cook all took the field displaying the gesture, which mimics the “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” stance that has become a frequent image among protesters since the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson in nearby Ferguson, Mo. in August.
While the players and Rams have not yet confirmed whether the gesture was related to the recent protests after a prosecutor’s decision Monday not to indict Wilson, a number of other athletes did respond to the news from Ferguson via social mediaand in interviews earlier this week.
The St. Louis Police Officers Association has released a statement condemning the St. Louis Rams football players who entered the field displaying the “hands up don’t shoot” pose. Click here to read the entire statement[/url].
You can read the full statement below:
St. Louis, Missouri (November 30, 2014) – The St. Louis Police Officers Association is profoundly disappointed with the members of the St. Louis Rams football team who chose to ignore the mountains of evidence released from the St. Louis County Grand Jury this week and engage in a display that police officers around the nation found tasteless, offensive and inflammatory.
Five members of the Rams entered the field today exhibiting the “hands-up-don’t-shoot” pose that has been adopted by protestors who accused Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson of murdering Michael Brown. The gesture has become synonymous with assertions that Michael Brown was innocent of any wrongdoing and attempting to surrender peacefully when Wilson, according to some now-discredited witnesses, gunned him down in cold blood.
SLPOA Business Manager Jeff Roorda said, “now that the evidence is in and Officer Wilson’s account has been verified by physical and ballistic evidence as well as eye-witness testimony, which led the grand jury to conclude that no probable cause existed that Wilson engaged in any wrongdoing, it is unthinkable that hometown athletes would so publicly perpetuate a narrative that has been disproven over-and-over again.”
Roorda was incensed that the Rams and the NFL would tolerate such behavior and called it remarkably hypocritical. “All week long, the Rams and the NFL were on the phone with the St. Louis Police Department asking for assurances that the players and the fans would be kept safe from the violent protesters who had rioted, looted, and burned buildings in Ferguson. Our officers have been working 12 hour shifts for over a week, they had days off including Thanksgiving cancelled so that they could defend this community from those on the streets that perpetuate this myth that Michael Brown was executed by a brother police officer and then, as the players and their fans sit safely in their dome under the watchful protection of hundreds of St. Louis’s finest, they take to the turf to call a now-exonerated officer a murderer, that is way out-of-bounds, to put it in football parlance,” Roorda said.
The SLPOA is calling for the players involved to be disciplined and for the Rams and the NFL to deliver a very public apology. Roorda said he planned to speak to the NFL and the Rams to voice his organization’s displeasure tomorrow. He also plans to reach out to other police organizations in St. Louis and around the country to enlist their input on what the appropriate response from law enforcement should be. Roorda warned, “I know that there are those that will say that these players are simply exercising their First Amendment rights. Well I’ve got news for people who think that way, cops have first amendment rights too, and we plan to exercise ours. I’d remind the NFL and their players that it is not the violent thugs burning down buildings that buy their advertiser’s products. It’s cops and the good people of St. Louis and other NFL towns that do. Somebody needs to throw a flag on this play. If it’s not the NFL and the Rams, then it’ll be cops and their supporters.”
