HramParticipant
I hear you and I believe I understand the cross training and how that will make them look worse. I’m still concerned they are simply too young. They need one more decent veteran with experience imo. If either of the two rookie pan out, it might not be an issue next year.
Put Saffold on this team and I’d feel good about it.
Plus I think we have tradeable DB assets so we could acquire a mid level journeyman guard from a team short in the defensive backfield.
HramParticipantI agree with just about everything you said and I’m still concerned. I think the rookies need a redshirt year before they are ready. Reports are Edwards is way ahead, but that’s not the same (on average) as way ahead for a 1sr or 2nd round pick.
If they keep drafting like this they will have good depth starting, I think, next year.
This year I am concerned about the readiness of said depth.
HramParticipantHe’s definitely looking forward to learning some stuff and being picked up as a starter for another team next year. He hopes.
HramParticipantThat would be pretty sweet if it is even close to true
HramParticipantfunny that one of the biggest questions surrounding goff was his ability to play under center.
P
To be honest? I don’t think anyone questioned his ability to do that. I think the only point made was that mastering the art of dropping back while making post-snap reads was just one more thing he had to learn to do. I don’t think any qb has ever failed because they could not master playing under center. The issue is more, how much does he have to learn and therefore how much more does he have to do to play the pro game and THEREFORE how much longer does it take for college qbs who haven’t done it. It’s a time factor, not a “can he or can’t he” factor.I dunno zn. I seem to recall reading on several occasions that QBs who don’t go under center at college struggle with that at the NFL level and some just never get comfortable with it. I also seem to recall a few articles stating it specifically in reference to Goff.
Perhaps my memory is faulty.

HramParticipantI think it is possible that they keep only eight OL and put two or three on the practice squad. I also think it is likely they keep five cornerbacks as they have that many good ones. Could keep five outside linebackers if one or two are versatile enough to play a good bit inside if necessary.

HramParticipantWill Jared Goff’s performance as ‘young Bill’ in the upcoming film, “Bill and Ted 3” outshine his performance on the field?
Does the sun set in the east?
Only when you watch it with mermaids

May 12, 2019 at 8:44 am in reply to: What does Xavien Howard’s contract mean for Marcus Peters? #101269HramParticipantProbably too expensive to keep. My prediction is they take the comp pick.
And trade a second or third round pick for a CB on their rookie contract.
And likely draft another one in the first three round next year.
HramParticipantIf we are lucky he will have had a son that is a ballplayer and may soon be dropped eligible
HramParticipantI wonder if Talib and the RAMS would entertain a move to FS after this year.
HramParticipantI am in total agreement with your draft philosophy
HramParticipantShort shuttle and 3 cone times for DBs (and WRs). Love it!
April 27, 2019 at 8:54 am in reply to: All of that wheeling and dealing for an extremely slow, undersized safety? #100473HramParticipantI like both DB selections.
They moved up for the RB to have their pick before they started coming off the board, so they must think his upside is great. Certainly superb in yards after contact which is impressive.
The tackle they picked is shorter, but has good feet and long arms and a heavy punch. Could make a good guard and potentially RT or swing backup tackle.

HramParticipantReceived good value for it imo.
HramParticipantThat is a low price tag. Rams must really think little of his potential to let him go for that much.
April 3, 2019 at 6:55 pm in reply to: 2019 NFL draft big Boards & Mocks & other all-purpose draft stuff #99630HramParticipantI think it is 50-50 that they trade down. With this front office, I trust whatever they end up doing. 🙂
HramParticipantOne good guard and, imo, another developmental tackle who can start out as a backup tackle/guard.
HramParticipantI believe arm length and functional strength (as well as smarts and nimble feet) are more important than height and weight, particularly at center.
The rams are taking risk at their oline imo, more than any other position group. I’m sure they have a plan to promote from within, draft and pickup folks late in free agency.
HramParticipantOnly 1 million for quarterback of the Bortles caliber is an absolute steal Imo.
HramParticipantI think Mathews played both inside and outside last year.
HramParticipantIf Mathews and Weddle have anything left, this could be a fun defense.
I think the Rams got to be out of money after this one.
Need probably one more cheap dline and one more cheap backup oline. I think. That’s about it. Plus draft some backups/groom for future years guys in the draft.
HramParticipantGiven the probable price tag, I’d say it would be a great deal. I believe he would be a significant upgrade from Mannion and when he departs in a year (likely imo), Rams could earn a comp pick.
HramParticipantMight actually be the opposite. Plus they could flip roles to disguise coverages.
HramParticipantHe would be a pretty large gap filler on fourth and one!
HramParticipantI figured they would keep him regardless but for sure if Whit had retired.
Very resilient fellow. Glad he got to go to the Super Bowl with us.
They had to a figured that Fowler had more positional value. Plus, they obviously know what they have on their practice squad. Plus I think they draft to offense of lineman one early ( first three rounds ) and one late
HramParticipant$14 million, I consider that a bit high, but it is just one year.
I’m looking at Michael Brockers to be traded or cut. Me thinks the reason Brockers has not been cut, is the Rams may have some trades to evaluate. Just a thought.
Could happen, but we only have 5 defensive linemen. I am probably more for keeping Brockers than most.
I agree with you as he can play nose.
HramParticipantRams are a FA destination!
Good move on their part
HramParticipantThe next one we are waiting on is Michael Brockers to be cut.
I think they will keep Brockers. He can play nose or DE.
