well they fought but a busted coverage or 2 did em in…but, the offense did well to keep them in the game

I think the Rams team this year was a bit better than average, but not high quality playoff caliber. A part of that was more injuries. We are ok on playmakers, but the Oline and Dline can be out classed. imo

    They were competitive.

Just enough misses here and there.

    Pick six
    Missed FG
    Long kickoff return
    Blown coverage

Need a little stronger Oline play and to tighten us these little misses next year.

49ers are just a better team this year.

Rams are what their record says they are.

It’d be nice to finish with a winning season. I dunno if they can get up for the Cards though.

The future is bright! The OL with Noteboom coming back and a full off season I see them coming back much stronger, wiser ready to rock. Cooks is cooked he shows flickers but he’s just not the answer . On Defense we are still deep at corner with Hill , Williams and NRC but imo Ramsey should go. He’s just not a team player and is a finger pointer and his impact has been less than the ridiculous price he’s going to demand. Weddle is over with JJIII and Rapp plus Christian up and coming and Weddle just fades so quickly at this point he don’t add much. I’m about done with Wade as well. He needs a shut down corner ( Ramsey) he needs an elite edge rusher (Fowler) started with the best DT on the planet now he needs a massive immovable Nose. I need a DC that can shut down the run and not give up 3rd and forever with startling regularity.

This game didn’t bother me that much. What bothered me was losing to the Cowboys like we did. That was embarrassing.

I think the Rams are close to contending again. Mainly have to buttress the o-line a bit.

Other things I’d like to see happen…

    1. Add an offensive coordinator to help McVay
    2. Get a real QB coach

Shame they’ll probably lose Fowler. He really came into his own this season.

Just a quick “quoting ag” reminder. When quoting ag, don’t hit “quote.” If you do it that way the post is a mess and ends up clean only if a mod cleans it up.

To quote ag, because he uses color, just drag the cursor over text you want to quote, blueing it out, and then hit quote.

We may have to struggle anther season or two, because of our cap, & have to think what players stay or go. We don’t have much in draft capital either.

I think Ramsey brings some juice to the team.

I think Weddle stays another year and the coach on the field is worth what we lost.

I think we have some good younglings on the Oline. Need to draft two more this year.

I think Gurley May never regain his step. Small possibility the knee really didn’t hurt much this year and he’ll be stronger next year. My money is he is only on the team two more years until his cap hit comes down.

I think we can upgrade from Cooks. Might have to keep him another year until the cap hit comes down.

I think McVay does need an OC.

I think it likely it is time for Wade to retire.

I think they should keep Fowler if there is any way to do it.

I think the team is close and will be competitive next year. Need a few tweaks and some renewed energy.

I did not get to see the game and probably will never watch it.

    Disappointing year

I do not think the Rams are too far behind the other teams in the league but there will be some changes, certainly. The Rams will have to figure some things out. The defensive collapses this year are hard to explain, and the weirdness of Todd Gurley must also be figured out.

I think Weddle should go, and possibly Brockers.

I hate the Ramsey trade even more now.

But it is what it is.

On to the offseason and whatever it brings.

Based on their contracts, we are stuck with Cooks & Gurley for two more seasons, Havenstein is one more. Don’t have the cap space to sign neither Fowler nor Littleton. One option is to tag one of them, & let the other walk, or let both walk.

Jack they have the cap space to sign one of them (Littleton or Fowler).

And if Hav is traded or let go in the 2020 off-season he would represent some cap savings.

    My vote.

I am just not discouraged by that game. In the 2nd half they fought back and tied it. That’s on the road against the 2nd ranked defense (1st against the pass). Without a running game (72 yards on 24 carries). All they had on offense was the passing game. Yet they fought back and tied it.

SF allowed only one other 300+ yard passing game all season, and that was against New Orleans.

Granted giving up 2 3rd n 16s will go down as one of the worst Rams defensive blunders ever.

But they managed to play a good game on offense (with some bad moments but still–coming back from your own mistakes is a good thing). And that’s with 3 inexperienced injury replacements on the OL against one of the top 5 defensive pressure teams (the Rams achilles heel).

    ….

I just saw it is minor, $850K.

    Game 15 … 9ers in SF …

So … where was that team the previous week? I’m literally still considering the fact that we may have thrown that game.

I liked the way we came out. I liked the way we played in the 2nd half on defense.

If it’s your year, you make those 3rd and 16s … it’s their year. So be it.

As you all know I’m a lifer concerned with dynasties … not games or even seasons.

    The Great

    1) Higbee. Coming into this year I was like “It’s time to replace him” … then we paid him. Then I was thinking … “Okay let’s draft someone who can take meaningful snaps from him that could be better.” Now I’m thinking “Okay, we need two TEs on the field most downs … Cooks is cut or traded. So if there’s an injury we need another TE in this draft in the mid rounds and McVay needs to craft a new offense that can run with 2 TE sets and equally pass” … because having two top tier athletes at TE hasn’t happened since Gronk and murder boy were on the Pats. I’m excited about that offense …

    2) Dareus Williams … Has anyone ever seen a 6th at training camp come in and play at this level? Really happy going into next season with our DBs.

    3) The playcalling … we ran more complex screens than Ive seen before and that changed the nature of their pass rush. Again this is Higbee helping.

    4) Holding their run game to minimal gains.

    The Good

    5) Gaines was not getting pushed around. He’s a clogger and I want him to get more reps. Brockers can get turned and so can Joseph Day from what Ive seen.

    6) Fowler in double digit sacks will get us a 3rd round comp. That’s what I want.

    7) Aaron on an off year with double digit sacks.

    8) Gurley getting the corner on the TD. He can still beat angles.

    9) We were ready to play. Our game plan was solid.

    10) Littleton breaking up the Kittle TD … 4 point play. I’m willing to spend whatever to keep him. Kittle isn’t going anywhere and we need an ILB that can cover him.

    11) Excellent job by Ramsey drifting off his guy for that INT.

    The Bad

    12) I don’t not expect that level of rookie mistake by Rapp, but I want more leadership rather than reactivity from Ramsey.

    13) Reeder as a backup is fine … but he’s a little slow.

    14) Weddle has lost the step that he needs to be effective “every play” … he is still effective on some plays.

    15) I wanted more playing time for Okoronkwo … but I’m guessing we’ll get it next week.

    The Ugly

    16) The pick 6.

    17) I can take the blown coverage in the middle of the field … what I cannot accept is a 3rd and 16 from your own goal line without a massive blitz. Dude is standing in his end zone … he needs pressure. No excuse for that. Was that an assumption that he’d play for overtime? Great play by Jimmy G but there’s no way you let him make that throw without being moved off his spot.

offensive line needs to get fixed. maybe most of the parts are already in place. and just need seasoning.

front seven needs new talent. especially edge rush. but also defensive line.

goff needs to get better. a lot better. i think he will though.
