Did Quick play at all?
Yes, I know that he was on the field for at least one play in the 2nd half. That’s all that I noticed. I’m sure that there were other plays. I don’t think that he was targeted. Similarly, I only remember Britt been thrown to once, and that wasn’t until later in the game.
canadaramParticipantSo incredibly excited. That was a different offense in the second half! Did not expect that kind of change. Hugs for everybody.
canadaramParticipantYay! I hope that he’s ready to fight for some 50/50 balls.
canadaramParticipantThe Cardinals just seem so solid on both sides of the ball right now. If the Rams can keep it close I’ll be encouraged.
canadaramParticipantmakes sense with gurley starting to play.
…and Watts returning soon.

You little smarty pants!

canadaramParticipantWell, why do you think they can’t run the ball? Any ideas?
Why cant they execute long drives using a balanced offensive attack?I’m going to go with a young offensive line that needs time to jell, or gel, or whatever. Maybe in the second half of the season things pick up.
Seems like a lot of the breakdowns in the run game are happening between the tackles. I’d have to rewatch the game, but I don’t recall seeing any Rams blockers running picking up guys at the second level. LBs and DBs are making plays at the LOS too. I would have thought that Robinson or Havenstein would show some flashes as road graters, but they haven’t yet. Maybe the Rams running game is easy for defenses to read. All guesses on my part, obviously.

canadaramParticipantIt was good to see the defense turn things around. They gave up one longer run in the 2nd half, but were mostly solid vs the run.
The Rams running game is shockingly bad. Whether they try to spread things out while running sideways before cutting up field, or just going straight up field it seems like defenses have guys waiting in the backfield as soon as the RB has the ball.
Foles made a terrible decision to throw the ball on the INT, or he really didn’t see Allen, or both, or whatever.
canadaramParticipantIs it considered a bad thing when your leading rusher is a WR, and he only had one carry? Is that a problem?
canadaramParticipantMind you, I think I remember reading Fisher say that he wouldn’t put a pitch count on Gurley the first time he played. So I’m modifying my guess to between 5 and 100 touches. I fully expect to be right. Praise me later.
canadaramParticipantI’m guessing he gets between 5-10 touches. I will be interested to see how he holds up when he’s required to protect Foles in passing situations. Given that pass protection was one – if not the only – reason Mason didn’t play right away last year I will assume that Fisher is comfortable with his aspect of Gurley’s game.
September 24, 2015 at 12:43 pm in reply to: Feeling good about Sunday…the "will Rams beat Steelers" thread #31108canadaramParticipantI think Brown will end up with a gazillion-and-a-half receiving yards.
canadaramParticipantI do poorly at predicting such things.
However, if the Rams can contain Morris and Ryan Kerrigan then their chances are good. Last year Kerrigan feasted on Barksdale, I’m not sure that Havenstein can fair any better.
Of course, the drive killing penalties that often hurt young teams on the road must be avoided too. Turning the ball over three times like last week won’t help either. Also, I hope Greg The Leg has a better day today than he did last year at Fed Ex Field. Frankly recent experience with this team tells me not to count on anything when the Rams play in games like these.
Anyway, thats all I got. Captain Obvious type stuff, I know.
canadaramParticipantEarlier this week I was positive Gurley wouldn’t suit up this week. Now I’m downgrading to being really pretty sure that he won’t suit up.
canadaramParticipantThanks for the link to the Runners World article WV. I’ve never read that one before. Whenever humans have me feeling a little down I sometimes watch old news footage of Terry, or read some articles and then I usually feel better.

canadaramParticipantcanadaramParticipantWhite was Bentley’s teammate in Lafayette, and Bentley was Janoris Jenkins high school teammate. Two degrees of Janoris Jenkins, or whatever.

Yay!
canadaramParticipantThat pass to Bailey in OT was silly good.
September 13, 2015 at 8:18 pm in reply to: this is great…podcast of Savard & Farr calling the end of the game #30428canadaramParticipantOn the PD boards I used to read a lot of complaints about Farr’s work on the radio. I think it was mostly posters who did not like him on one of the local daily sports talk shows. I don’t know about that because I’ve never listened to his shows, but as a Rams analyst he’s my favourite. I used to really like Jack Snow too, but Farr is good at identifying who is doing what, who’s doing their job and who’s not. He’s also a good homer when he needs to be, and sometimes I need that during a broadcast.
canadaramParticipantThat final play looked closer to 4th-and-1 than it did to 4th-and-2.
September 13, 2015 at 6:07 pm in reply to: Wow, how thunk that? (Seattle game reaction thread) #30368canadaramParticipantI became a big Bradley Marquez fan today. Great block on Tavon’s PR and great coverage on KOs. Not to mention the great hands on the onside kick. Quite the debut for the UDFA.
canadaramParticipantI don’t think so.
I’m a big Cunningham fan. He’s a tough runner, but I don’t see how this inexperienced online can get things done against Seattle. I would expect the Hawks d-line to win their fair share of 1-on-1 matches up front. They can probably have a good day against the Rams rushing attack without crowding the box. Their secondary is still great even without Chancellor.
I don’t know what the Rams D will do. At this point the secondary has done nothing to assuage my concerns about their propensity for giving up big plays. Hopefully Donald & Brockers can take advantage of the Hawks seemingly shaky interior o-line.
canadaramParticipantGood health for each and every Ram. Some progress from the young o-line would be nice too.
canadaramParticipantI liked this when I was six years old. I think I remember reading somewhere that he tried unsuccessfully to sell the song to the Beach Boys.
August 21, 2015 at 6:50 pm in reply to: setting up the Titans game (which is nationally broadcast) #29093canadaramParticipantHey Gopher fan! I live in Minnesota and watch/listen to the Gopher games. I agree with you that Cobb can be an excellent running back. The Gophers have a knack for producing quality RBs in the NFL.
I’m just a “little” ways up the road from you along the north shore of Lake Superior. We visit the state frequently. I was in Tofte last week.
When I was a kid our American TV feed came from Duluth. Now we get some Minneapolis channels. Lots of Vikings fans where I live. Anyway, I’ve always been a fan of Big Ten sports in general, but over the years I have followed the Gophers more closely. I love the Big Ten Network, I find it much more watchable than the NFL Network.
Anyway, Cobb was a beast last year. They used him a lot, but I hope his relative lack of touches in his previous years allows him to have a productive NFL career.
August 20, 2015 at 12:50 pm in reply to: setting up the Titans game (which is nationally broadcast) #28999canadaramParticipantIs David Cobb the real deal?
As a fan of the Gophers I carry a bias on this one, but I think Cobb will be great. I’m excited to see him play. Obviously I am more excited about seeing Gurley play someday, but the Titans got a real gem in Cobb.
Aside from that I’d like to see good health for the Rams.
