If the front doesn’t get any pressure, Diggs and Thielen will have big games. Also, I see Rudolph vs. the Rams LBs is a mismatch that favours the Vikings. I think Minnesota wins this game.
canadaramParticipantNew-and-improved-living-in-the-moment-Canadaram is super excited by how solidly Goff performed today. I haven’t felt this confident about a Rams QB since the 2003 version of Bulger.
I think the Rams have the depth to weather the injuries in the secondary assuming more injuries don’t occur, but it sure would help if Donald can start finding his groove.
canadaramParticipantMy reaction is that I am very pleased. I also realize that I’ve changed since the last time I had expectations of the Rams in early 2000s. Back then I’d find stuff that bothered me about the Rams performance even in victory. Now I’m just happy to watch or listen to the game and I’m grateful that they appear to be a legitimate threat for a playoff run.
Anyway, if I recall correctly the Cardinals didn’t cross midfield until the end of the 4th quarter. Not that anyone is going to confuse the 2018 Cardinals offense with the GSOT, but that’s some good defending by the Rams.
canadaramParticipantI was surprised that he’s listed as being over 6ft, he looks shorter to me. I’m no carnival height guesser guy though, so what do I know. At any rate he seems like he might start his career like Danny Amendola- spending some time on one or two practice squads before he finds a home. Since it seems as though several starters will be resting I’d like to see him play against the Texans starting secondary.
canadaramParticipantI am relieved that Goff and Gurley should be starting the season healthy. However, I reserve the right to whine and complain if they start off slowly. I will also claim that I was against resting them from the beginning.

canadaramParticipantThis move makes me feel happy inside.
canadaramParticipantcanadaramParticipantSuccess?
canadaramParticipantcanadaramParticipantcanadaramParticipantThanks zn, but I feel like I’m doing exactly that and the best I can get is the link appearing on the screen. I will not be deterred. I shall try again.

canadaramParticipantI haven’t watched the game yet, but I’m glad to read the positive reports about Demby and Noteboom. Depth on the oline will be important. I’m wondering if there is any chance that the Rams keep both Kelly and Davis and cut Malcolm Brown.
canadaramParticipantNo injuries and lots of Luis Perez and Brandon Allen.

Agreed.
One of several things that I remember thinking while watching the loss to the Falcons in the first round was the Rams need to find or develop a reliable TE.

DT/DE John Franklin-Meyers getting run with the #Rans 1st team defense in 11 on 11 and showing a nice burst off the edgeI have no idea what kind of player JFM will be, but he will look great getting off of the bus.
canadaramParticipantLet’s say that instead of trading for him this year, they signed him as a free agent next year. If they did, as with all FA signings, that issue wouldn’t even come up. Well. What’s the difference?
That’s a good way of putting it. I agree.
canadaramParticipantThat would make me giddy.
canadaramParticipantI’m happy about this. It’s interesting, at least it is interesting to me, that after seeing Watkins for one year the Rams wouldn’t give him that kind of money, but they will give it to Cooks before he plays a down for them. Again, I’m happy about this extension so this isn’t a criticism.
June 15, 2018 at 7:37 pm in reply to: informal poll: go ahead & guess…if healthy do the Rams have a top 5 offense? #87389canadaramParticipantSince you said healthy I’ll say sure they can definitely be top five. I just don’t see how they experience two consecutive years of such good health. Of course, that’s nothing more than a feeling on my part.
canadaramParticipantI’m not trying to read too much into lineups during OTAs, but if either Fox or Okoronkwo were available would Lawler still be lining up with the ones?
canadaramParticipantIt would be nice to get a Bruce/Holt-like run out of Woods and Cooks. That’s my crazy dream anyway.
canadaramParticipantThe news that Zuerlein is kicking again is my favourite news to come out of OTAs so far. I don’t have a second favourite.
canadaramParticipantRams secondary got banged up in that game as well. The Vikings were able to take advantage of the young guys. Not a lot of sustained drives by the offense and by the start of the 4th quarter the entire Rams defense was running on fumes.
canadaramParticipantYoungblood is perpetually 28 years old to me and I’m 12 years old every time I discuss him.
canadaramParticipantDonald and Goff.
Teams can win without an elite RB. A good QB is more important. I’m assuming that Goff’s upward trajectory continues. I wouldn’t want to lose Donald on defense. There’s no plugging that hole.
canadaramParticipantKnox was the coach when I became a fan of the Rams at 8 years old. As a result I’ve always viewed him through the eyes of a child, glorifying him and all the Rams teams of his era. Nothing but fond memories.
