The key to this game will be our interior line play on both sides of the ball. If we can slow Suh and Donald down I think we will have success moving the ball.

Of course we have to also be able to stop Gurley without having to put 8 in the box.

The Vikings have a fairly good pair of DE’s themselves. I’m not as concerned about them as much as running the ball between the tackles.

We can and will on Sunday.

Suh and Donald are a beasts however Armstead and Ramz are elite tackles.

Per PFF, Ryan did not allow a single pressure in 24 pass blocking snap against the Vikings. He’s only allowed only 4 pressures all season with a pressure rate of 1.6% (leads ALL TACKLES IN THE NFL).

That is big time, prime time folks.

Anyone else see how many times Green Bay receivers were wide open on Sunday? I’m not sure if there were missed assignments or confusion for the Rams, but I bet Drew and Payton are scouring those game tapes.

I hope they can find some things – my fear is a 40 burger may not be enough. We’re going to need a lot of mustard…

    Meh …

Rams are a good team but have they been battle tested like the Saints on the road? Lambs are the best untested, undefeated team in football.

Good luck against the Saints, #9 & a innovative HC in the dome. Take the Saints & the points.

Whether it’s Davis, Robertson or a safety somebody has to stick on Gurley.
He’s been pretty good as a pass catcher besides running back.

I just went back and watched the highlight package for each of the lambs games so far. A few things stood out.

    1. Gurley is a monster. I hope our linebackers are ready for the edge and DL is stout.
    2. They like to air it out. Look for them to take 5-6 shots this week off of play action. Hopefully we can stop Gurley without safeties in the box and let Marcus Williams play the outfield.
    3. Many of their opponents big plays came from seam and post routes. We should have some opportunities in the middle of the field. Watson or Trequan might have a big game.
    4. Their run defense has some holes. I’d feed Kamara and Ingram in this game, especially to the right side.

Other than Gurley and the d line, they are an average team.
    Dome field advantage.
    Saints win 38-31

The article makes it clear. The Saint’s beat the Vikings by keeping constant pressure on Cousins from the second quarter on. Nine hits and four sacks takes a toll on the QB. The Packers showed us the recipe by sacking Goff 5 times. We just need to cook the Ram gumbo on Sunday.

Have Taysum spy Gurley the whole game.

See, I just didn’t see it that way. I especially didn’t see it that way early on. There were times, particularly in the second half, but in spots in the first half, where we did get some pressure, but I clearly recall Cousins standing tall in the pocket with ample time to survey they field, and he too frequently found wide open WRs.

But Davenport is getting better and there were times when we did disrupt them. We’re definitely better now than earlier in the season. I want to see us dominate somebody. I may be asking too much.

Another incredibly fun team to watch. Preventing Aaron Donald from collapsing the pocket will be the key to the game for us.

This was talked about by Jordan after the game. They dialed up the pressure as the game progressed. So Cousins gets comfortable, then we steadily crank it until the dial is way up there. All the laser timed throws he makes without thinking, just putting it in a spot starts becoming a problem. We slowly took that away. His go to muscle memory routes were gone.

“Listen, we’re going to have to grind this tape,” Rankins said, via Tom Pelissero of NFL Media. “We played [the Rams] last year, but they’re a whole different animal this year. So it’s definitely going to be our biggest task yet. But we’re confident in the guys we have and it’s going to be a fun battle.”

Here is a kind of interesting stat. There are two teams undefeated on the road in 2018. The Rams and the Saints.

Number 1 running back vs number 1 run defense
After the first quarter the Vikings’ passing game was held in check, and their WR’s are better than LA’s

might very well be last team with the ball wins- bet the over

If I’m guessing (wildly speculating) the game will be Gurley vs our LBs

Gurley is crazy good. Aside from his skills as a ball carrier, he also caught a 20+ yard wheel route down the sideline. Against the Pack, LAR seemed to make a lot of money off of bootlegs/roll outs, with Goff trotting casually to the sidelines and even ploddingly converting a first down on foot (!!!). Cam and Davenport are going to shut that sort of stuff down in a big way. I think that if it weren’t for GB’s trash ST play, they should’ve won that game against LAR. They gave up a cheapie first down on a fake punt, got coffin cornered, got a punt grounded inside the 1 yard line for a safety on the next play, and had a returner come out of the end zone with less than 2 minutes in the game. He didn’t even make it to the 20 yard line. GB was down by two points at the time. Oh, and he fumbled the return and lost the fumble — did I mention that?

GB had super strong coverage on the back end of their defense though, so we’ll have to see how the Black and Gold secondary fares. On offense, GB was running all over the Rams, and to my eye, the Packers are nowhere as physical in the run game as New Orleans is this year.

It’s not difficult to see why they’ve had so much success when they’ve played exactly two games against teams that are considered legit contenders at this point in the season and both of those games were played in sunny LA!!

They’re not playing in LA this Sunday though!!

Seems like this author is describing the fact that the Rams coach likes to run percentage plays to his advantage every chance he gets. That makes sense but it’s also the norm for an NFL coach. Not a big revelation or anything. It doesn’t hurt that the Rams have good skill players to do it with either. Physical still counts though and the Saints have learned that kind of the hard way. Hit the Rams in the mouth a few times and see how they respond. Play keep away with ball control and see how they respond. Green Bay did that to them and they did flinch. Saints might do the same.

Last year the Rams got to the line early and the coach made the play call after he saw the defensive formation. Goof just had to make the audible and execute the play.

This year, defenses aren’t tipping so much. The execution isn’t nearly as smooth but the results are still pretty impressive.

We’re going to have to do some things late to put them behind the chains.

It’s interesting to hear all these guys sound so confidently informed when half the time or more they’re just running on empty.

Like the idea that the Saints 2 tackles will help negate AD and Suh. (?) Well maybe when they’re both playing end.

Or the idea that the Rams played only 2 contenders so far. Depends I suppose on what you mean. So far they have played 2 4-3 teams (Minn, Seattle) and a 5-2 team (Chargers). GB is struggling for them but you can’t count them out.

I know that “refuting the other teams’s fans” can sound just like them. But while this is a confident sounding bunch, as often as not they don’t really know much about the Rams. For example some are still doing the “Goff is a system qb” thing.

Yeah fans dont know crap about the nuances of other teams.

And frankly I think Suh and Donald are gonna negate Jake Delhomme.

The only good teams the Saints have beaten are the Reds****, Ravens, and Vikings. I’m not sure how that somehow makes them more ‘battle tested’ than the Rams.

    Reds**** ?

Ya know if you were more sensitive to the political ramifications of team-slurs, you’d know
Rav##s dont actually like that word. They prefer to be called “Lord God Birds.”

    Just so you know.

Yeah, well I refuse to call the Ravens that because they culturally appropriated that name from the real ‘Lord God Birds” aka Bicknell’s Thrush.

You’d know that if you were woke.

The Rams have played eight football games and are still undefeated. That makes them “battle tested.” In my book.

I’m really looking forward to this tilt.
