Rams, too much firepower against a struggling pass D.

    Yep…

Bucs showed up for a gunfight… but the Rams had bigger guns

    The better team won today…

Defense played inconsistent. Especially, I didn’t like that we gave up that late TD to them Bucs.

Easy win against a sub-par quarterback. Next.

Stafford is so F’ing fast. His decision-making is fast,
    his arm is lightning-fast.

    Fun…to…watch.

Imagine if Marshall Faulk was on this team 🙂

Rams excelled in all phases of the game today. They look unbeatable.

Pretty clear they are be the best team in football.

    Perhaps the best team ever.

MAY-be the 85 Chicago Bears or 26 Frankford Yellowjackets could beat them on an off day.

    MAY-be.

    No one answered this question?

What did McVay run to get to DJax, after that score?

I still say he ran a 4.2. Just saying

    The defense exceeded my expectations.

Impressive what the offense can do without the presence of a strong running game.

    Seattle lost again.

    Fun day.

happy with the win. and yet i feel this team can get better.

i think the running game can get better.

    the tackling can get better.

the pass rush can get better.

and shoot. stafford underthrew jackson twice!

    haha!

seriously though. i think the rams can and will tighten things up as the season goes on. but happy so far with what i’m seeing.

We NEED a running game. Other than that, Great Win (and my Yankees too).

The more I think about it. The more I think this was an outstanding game. Stafford had a slow start, a couple passes were dropped, but by the end of the game everybody looked outstanding.

I didn’t expect them to win that convincingly. I was expecting a nail-biter. That was solid.

I knew I was going to see DJax score on a bomb. Jax was doing some minor grumbling last week because he hadn’t been used, and I thought, “McVay is saving him for TB.” Pretty clearly he had this game circled on the calendar. That guy was somewhat charged up for this game.

Gronk was maybe showing some age, finally. And the Bucs have an issue in the secondary. They’ve been lit up for over 1,000 yards passing in three games. I’m here to say that I do not feel sorry for them.

Meanwhile, the Rams miss Akers, a lot. I hope to see something more coming out of the rush attack in the next few games, or we have a problem.

The Rams will be on top of most Power Rankings this week.

Yes, slow start from Stafford. In fact, I don’t think he’s found his stride yet. I think his passing is still slightly off. Lotsa underthrows, and he’s not leading his receivers enough across the field. But he’s finding ways to make things work, and the rest of the team is playing really well, especially the offensive line, which is surprising the hell out of me.

If Kupp doesn’t make All Pro this year, something is really wrong with the folks making those picks. Right now, I think he’s a top 5 receiver, and I don’t believe he runs just a 4.6 forty. Gotta be faster than that. And, of course, it only matters how fast you run in pads, on game day. Route-running extraordinaire, blocks selflessly, great hands, etc. Woods too, of course. All of those things. And Van Jefferson looks like the Rams hit big on a third rounder.

Uh, hmmm. But Atwell? I still gotta wonder, What were they thinking using a second on him. Tough kid, obviously fast. But, you don’t use your first pick on a guy who isn’t going to see the field all that often . . . and will never be more than your #3. As good as Jefferson looks, he likely won’t get even that far.

Anyway . . . the game was a lotta fun to watch. The Rams are fer reel.

    Yes, slow start from Stafford

Looks to me like McVay was seriously amped up about this game, and he undoubtedly passed that on to his team. I thought Stafford looked like he had the Yips, early. Those guys were open, and he missed them. Defending SB champs are gonna get that a lot the following season. It will be different in the playoffs if these two teams meet again. The Bucs can’t match that energy every week, but they can match it in the playoffs. The Bucs can play better than that (I think).

In any event, the Rams are likely to have HFA if they meet again, though that’s obviously no sure thing with 14 more games to go. But that was an important win for this team, and you couldn’t really ask for more 3 weeks into the season. The Rams are a game up on the 9ers, and 2 up on the Hawks, and they will likely take care of AZ next week in LA. So… carry on.

    Zooey,

Have you ever gone to a game in LA? Was wondering about the crowd and crowd noise. I’ve only seen them in SF (twice), and all the other times via TV. But in recent years it seems like they don’t get a lot of home-game advantages from crowd noise, etc. At least judging from the TV stuff. But the announcers were saying it was extremely loud yesterday.

As a native Cali guy, what’s your take on the potential for 12th-man effects at So-Fi this season?

Side note: The folks on Get up! this morning were saying the Rams are the best team in football now. I agree.

Hey, Billy. I have been to only one game since the Rams returned to Los Angeles, and that was at the Coliseum which is wide open, and not designed for acoustic reinforcement whatsoever.

All I can tell you is that I have heard Colin Cowherd, Rich Eisen, and the announcers all say it is unbelievably loud in SoFi. Eisen said it’s louder than the Seattle stadium.

One caveat: the stadium acoustics are just as loud for fans of the visiting team, and as of now, it still appears to me that Los Angeles has a higher proportion of visiting fans than anywhere else because LA was without a team for 20 years, but not without football fans. Many Los Angelenos chose to follow a team elsewhere, and have not changed their allegiance to the Rams just because they moved into the local area. That will change over time, but the Rams lost a large part of a generation during their absence from LA. The Rams have a significant home field advantage – bigger than it’s ever been in the past – but not as big as it will be in a few years, especially if the Rams bring a Lombardi to LA.

There must be somebody around who has attended a game at SoFi, and can give a better answer, though.

I like Michel. He’s rarely going to break any the way Akers would. I expect more from him in future games–Tampa has stifled the Rams run game in both their 2020 and 2021 meetings. (This game, 24 rushes for 76 yards; last year, 18 for 42).

Michel doesn’t have a lot of wiggle but he does have the Rams big RB trait, which is contact balance. He also has some power too. But he maximizes who and what he is with smart play and good knowledge of the game (fine blocker, for example). With Michel at the center of it, I think the Rams run game will be solid and more than serviceable.

The catch? Both he and Henderson have had injury issues. They’ve both been banged up a lot and missed games cause of it.

    I like Michel.

I do, too. I think he was a good pickup, and I think he will have better days. He didn’t have training camp with the Rams, and if Henderson was healthy, he wouldn’t get this much of a load yet. He will improve, and get more use down the road.

I think that the Rams woulda had an A running game with Akers, and it’s gonna be a B without him.

it’s changing. in just the five years they’ve been here, i’ve seen a big change in the amount of rams fans in the city. it’s mostly older folks, so i think a large part of it is just old rams fans starting to welcome their old team back. but there are a lot of younger fans too.

and most importantly i rarely ever see chargers fans walking around.

Good. There was certainly a lot of Rams signage around the city every time I’ve been there.

Side note: In re-reading my own post, I realize I wrote an ambiguous line that is likely to be misinterpreted. I said, “the stadium acoustics are just as loud for fans of the visiting team.” What I meant was “the acoustics are the acoustics. They don’t distinguish between the fans making the noise, and because there are a lot of fans of the opposing team also present, they will also be loud.” I did not mean to imply that they are equally loud, since there are fewer of them, even if there are more visitors than in the average stadium. But obviously the higher the % of Rams fans, the louder it will be at “the right times.”

The Rams finally have a home field advantage!Remember when the Oline was the biggest question mark heading into the season?
