I doubt anyone would disagree that our main needs are QB and OL.

But you know I was looking at one of the pundit posts here surveying the draft by position. The guy listed some MLBs and said that was a fairly strong position in the draft.

Tell you what. I’d love to grab a good, young MLB who can push JL. Our MLB is a solid field general who isn’t really distinguished at many things and is less than impressive as a run stuffer. He’s played a lot of snaps and remained healthy, which is a virtue. He’s not old, but he ain’t young any more.

This would be a great time to bring in a young gun to learn the ropes beneath his solid running of the defense. Pretty much like what you want from a young QB to develop under a vet. And perhaps with an upside beyond JL’s, particularly in the arena of run stopping?

    What do you guys think?

Things certainly could fall that way. I wouldn’t be surprised. And your reasoning for it is solid. (Though you forgot to carry the 2, plus your allusions to Melville were, I thought, a little distracting, but those are minor complaints.)

I think the exact same thing applies to left DE btw. They might want to have someone behind Long who is a potential future starter, and I have read more than once now that this draft is crazy deep at DE.

I admit the thought has crossed my mind. I was just thinking about it this morning. There seems to be consensus that OL is fairly deep in this draft, but it’s somewhat light in top tier guys. So that first round pick could be used for just about anything. The two biggest needs, everyone knows, are QB and OL, but it doesn’t look like either makes sense at #10 (unless Scherff or someone really shoots up after the combine).

The Rams very well may go BPA there regardless of position like they did with Donald at #13 last year. Going into the draft last year, DT was not a Big Need.

I think LB or WR could be that position this year. On paper, not the biggest need, but a position that could use a boost if it could get it. As far as JL in particular, I’m thinking they ought to try to considering a replacement to develop there this year. If it doesn’t fall that way this year, I would think MLB would move up to a Need in 2016.

That person should have been Bobby Wagner. Trading that draft pick was such a stupid mistake.

Yeah, I’d prefer BPA in this draft. Last year, Robby was more need and Donald more BPA. I think Robby will be OK, but could have been a reach. Donald, you pretty much had to take him there. This year, I want another player who could be special, like Donald, regardless of position.

Sure, LB is in play, i think. Not at 10, i wouldnt think
but if they can trade down and pick up an extra pick or somethin.

This is definitely a different kind of draft
than we’ve seen since Fisher came in.
For the first time in years, the Rams dont
have more needs than they can fill. This
draft has a more narrow focus, it seems.

If they can sign Britt and if Quick is
able to come-back, then they dont really
need to consider one of the top WRs who
may very well be the BPAs. They can
trade down, pick up a couple of OLinemen
    , a QB and a LB. Sign a vet Guard or Center…

After that it all depends on Bradford. 🙂

    I’m excited. Hope Springs Eternal.
    16-0, baby.

I’m a Yankees fan, and have been since the Dave Winfield years.

    What? Middle Linebacker?

Sorry, thought you meant Major League Baseball. My bad…
