Hopefully the Rams offense controls the ball and slows down the game. Kelly won’t be able to help himself. He likes fast break football. He won’t have patience for a slow game. Still, there is pressure locally for Kelly to run the ball more. But the Eagles are 2nd in the NFL in pass attempts, 21st in rushing attempts. Kelly WANTS to throw the ball.
Of course–looking at the Rams 30th ranked rush defense is as good an incentive as any–especially if he believes the big play run is there–which it has been with the Rams this year. But if the Rams stuff McCoy early I don’t see Chip having the patience to stay with it. He wants points–fast. He wants to wear down your team–fast pace.
We’ll see if the Rams are up to the challenge.
I think the Rams find a way this week.

It seems like the Rams never, well alot of the time, defend the middle of the field and they don’t always keep someone rushing the middle of the pocket. That gives the QB an easy throwing lane. imo
AgamemnonBased on what I have seen this year–4 PS and 3 season games–there is no reason to expect anything other than a fairly heavy loss tomorrow.
The defense has shown nothing like the kind of discipline it will need to significantly contain the Philly offense.
Our offense has shown promise, but I doubt they are ready to win a shootout.
All my perceptions and conditioned reflexes tell me to expect a dismal failure tomorrow.
And now for the but.
I think of the Indy game last year. I’m not asserting or overdoing any parallels. Except the fact that a Fisher team CAN suddenly assert itself. It’s been known to happen.
And there is the whole thing about him making adjustments part way into a season. The defense did tighten up some last year, though not I think as much as people assume.
So, I dunno … it COULD happen.
But I wouldn’t bet on it without damn good odds.
I will tell you what.
If they win?

vNot only do I expect the Rams to win…I backed it up by wearing my Rams t-shirt to work on Friday and smack talking the Eagles fans.
Oh, I said some things I’d live to regret come Monday–IF the Rams should lose.
But of course, that won’t happen.
I made sure that everyone knew how I felt about the game by going out of my way to casually “bump” into those I didn’t see right away.
“Oh…hi, Phil. Didn’t see you there. Did you know that the Rams are kicking the Eagles ASS this weekend? Did you know that? Oh–you weren’t aware of that? Well–write it down. And write down who said it so you remember on Monday. They are kicking their ass in THEIR house. And…uh, have a nice day.”
So it will not be pretty for me if the Eagles win on Sunday.
Hopefully my rant was fueled by cool analysis of the situation and not raw emotion.
I am pretty pumped up for the game.
