Will the Rams beat Dallas? Informal poll

Dallas is not a great or elite football team. In fact they are very much like the Vikings, a team the Rams can beat but played horribly against. I think the Rams players want to get the bad taste out of their mouths and re-establish their home field for this season. If there is one team outside of the NFC West the Rams should be motivated to beat it certainly is Dallas who has treated the Rams like a red headed stepchild the last few games they have played. Time for some revenge.

The Rams defense as bad as they played against the Vikings still held Peterson to 70 plus yards. Far below what he had done to them previously. I think Murray will be a marked man on Sunday.

If Austin Davis is the QB on Sunday I think the Rams could put a lot of points on the board and win this game going away.
Hill? Remains to be seen.

If the Rams can contain DeMarco Murray, then things look really good for them.

I think they really didn’t want anything deep by the Bucs and they succeeded. Other than one 20yd pass to Vincent Jackson, there was nothing and there wasn’t even an attempt at a 30+ yard pass. So, if the Rams wanted to keep the Bucs on the ground and essentially take Jackson and Evans out of the game… they did.

Now, I’m sure the Rams will probably focus on Murray more than they focus on Dez Bryant because Murray can not only take over a game, but also the clock. When the Rams focused on AP, they held him to 85 yards on 17 carries and he gashed the Rams ugly, too. So, we’ll see.

I like the Rams in this game.

Plus, I won’t be wearing my Warner jersey which I’m clear now is ONLY for wearing to the stadium… so no jinxing the team…

Murray’s good…but it’s that OL that makes them SO good.

Last game was a bad one in part because their OL handled the Rams DL. Partly by cheating, but still (reportedly they would grab the triceps of Rams DL players and hang on).

Well, the Bucs blatantly held Quinn all game long. I mean, some of the holds involved literally hugging him once Quinn was passed… no call.

So, hopefully the Rams get more consideration at home than they did at Tampa… ‘cuz that was just wrong. Play the game and call it straight up. If it means 20 sacks and going through 4 QBs because OLs can’t block, then do that. Change the rules or whatever. But don’t NOT call fouls or only call them sporadically… That creates a game without legitimacy or integrity.

So far teams have been afraid to challenge the
Rams passrushers. They’ve just dinked and dunked
mainly.

Be interesting to see if America’s Team
takes more chances with more
deep passes. I think they will.

Well, thankfully, Finnegan’s in the Miami metroplex and safely away from blowing nickel coverages in our defense.

This game could go so many different ways…

Rams could win big, win close, lose close, or lose big.

And, ya know….none of those would surprise me.

You wuzz at the game. Did you notice much about Hayes? I am wondering about him, because he got NO reps over the summer.

He played okay, but Long was missed. Hayes is best when he’s used in that Justin Tuck, inside/outside 5th DL role. That’s his BEST role. He did okay. There were times that he didn’t hold contain and the run D suffered in Long’s absence.

Wednesday practice is usually very telling as to who is playing. If Hill cannot practice then he is not playing, simple as that. If Davis is getting most of the snaps then Davis is the guy.

If the Rams go 2-1…that’s an in-season winning record. When was the last time the Rams had an in-season winning record?

They were 3-2 after the Washington game on Oct 4, 2012.

I believe in AD. I’ve been saying since 2012 when we first saw him play in pre-season that the kid has something going for him.
He can manage an offense and he’s a heck of an athlete.

Even AD said so himself that he has three years experience in this offense and Hill does not. Everyone who has positively commented on AD after the Tampa game has said how clutch his play was late in the game when it is winning time. Especially his passes. I think the Rams have lucked into a good QB here and I mean that most sincerely. These 3rd string QB comments are going to disappear the more this kid plays and wins games.

If AD has another solid game, even if the Rams lose I think Fisher is going to be hard pressed to really put Hill back in.
If AD has another solid game, and the Rams win, then Fisher is going to be looked upon as real clown if he goes back to Hill at that point and he may just emotionally lose this team if he does that.

I’d be happy if Dallas doesn’t blow out the Rams.

I just don’t think the Rams are very good right now. And that’s WITH all-world quarterback Austin Davis.

They were very fortunate that the Tampa game ended the way it did–because if Evans stands up and they get the spike..it wasn’t a terrible field goal to make for the Bucs and then the Rams are 0-2 and things are looking more grim.

Williams has to redirect the defense to stop the run and short stuff and the players have to make tackles–and not just in the secondary. Live by the blitz die by the blitz and if Williams isn’t more selective in how he uses it the Rams will get eaten alive.

Last week, against a substitute D-line, the Rams offense looked functional. The offensive line played better, Austin Davis did what was asked of him and he managed the game that Shotty called very well. But he isn’t Kurt Warner–yet.

This week that defense faces a good O-line–a Rams-killer running back, a very good receiver and tight end and a step up in quarterback class from the first two weeks.

I’m not a believer yet–that the Rams are a very good team. Don’t get me wrong–they have loads of talent–but they have to put it together. They certainly played better in game #2 and they’ll have too play even better this week to beat Dallas.

But until I can scrub the memories of Murray running wild on the Rams, I just can’t stop seeing more of the same.

I hope I’m wrong–but I expect the Rams will lose this game.

On the bright side–Tony Romo can implode in any game at any time.

I think this game has a Rams victory written all over it.

The Rams recently have played very well at home over the course of a season, with 1 or 2 very bad games along the way. Last year it was the Titans game, and the year before it was the Jets. The Rams got the clunker out of the way early, and I think they paste the Cowboys.

Dallas until last week was picked to finish last in a very weak NFC East. Their defense is mostly in shambles, and Romo has been battling back issues. The Rams should be able to run and pass on Dallas, and put Dallas in a hole. The Rams are simply a better team right now, and at home.

Its funny the love that Austin Davis is getting right now. He was actually the 4th string QB when camp opened, and would have probably been cut in the first round of cuts had Bradford not been hurt. But the Rams moved Davis ahead of Gilbert after Bradford got hurt when it looked like one of those two would have to be the actual back-up QB because Gilbert wasn’t ready to handle the offense. On the plus side, Davis has been much more accurate than he was reported to be in camp and is pretty nimble in the pocket, but he is still a below average NFL QB with not a lot of upside IMO. Its just that the Rams now have better players, and can compete even with Davis’ shortcomings.

Well, hopefully, the Cowboys do what they always do and abandon the run and fall back into those 5 and 7 step drops so that our pass rush can really pin their ears back. Teams keep dinking and dunking against us… Shit’s givin me a rash…

I mean, I’m glad teams respect our DL, but c’mon…

Yep.

So far, they show glimpses on offense, but not enough to count on for 20+ points.

On defense, they really have not shown much at all.

Theoretically, they have room to grow. A number of Ram quotations after the game focused on their belief that their ceiling is much higher than where they are.

But SO FAR they have SHOWN nothing better than a 7-9 team that can be dangerous at times.

I can’t see how they will contain DAL enough to give a sputtering offense a chance. I mean, time of possession could be a serious problem, even if they do play tough in the Red Zone.

Gonna be a long day, I figure.

We do it to posts all the time, including our own, to keep the board flowing. All that is, is, combining scattered posts on the same topic into more active group threads, and sometimes the thread title has to be changed to signal that. (I also sometimes move posters’s posts that are buried/hidden in long news and video threads, and start new threads with them.) The idea is just to facilitate conversation. Near as I know, folks are okay with that practice, but you spoke up, so I will respect that. If you would prefer never having a post title changed to accommodate combining posts into more active threads, what that will mean in effect is that we will never use a post of yours as the first one in a thread. If that’s what you would prefer, that’s fine.
