greg roman offense. only thing i know about him is that he coached under harbaugh for many seasons from stanford to the niners. very run heavy offense.
it’s probably mostly a matter of learning the terminology. i can’t imagine the concepts being so vastly different. it’s probably just learning the verbiage.
In 2014 SW was in a WCO under coordinator Nathaniel Hackett
In 2015-6, SW was in a WCO under coordinator Greg Roman, and then after Roman was fired early in the 2016 season, under Anthony Lynn, now the head coach of the Chargers. But of course Lynn had no choice but to run Roman’s system after taking over.
In 2017, before being traded,SW was under coordinator Rick Dennison, a Shanahan disciple who of course runs a WCO
Kromer btw was in Buffalo from 2015-16 too. As was Robert Woods. From 2013-14 Kromer btw was the coordinator in Chicago and ran a WCO.
I don’t know how different all these WCOs are—Hackett, Roman, Dennison, McVay—but, they are probably not “like learning a 2nd language” different.
BTW the only Coryell offense in the NFC west right now is Arizona. All 3 other teams (Rams included of course) run WCOs.
