znModeratorIt’s in between “not likely” and “I don’t know.” I leave open the possibility that he could surprise.
Remember, we don’t compare him to Bradford, Or, Everett, or Bulger, or Warner.
Or Hill even. Or Boller. Or Frerotte. Or Feeley. Or Clemens. Or Jamie Martin.
His comparison set is Null and Berlin.

You have to play with what you have. No excuses. No whining.

InvaderRamModeratori’m among the non-believers. but i’m hoping.
not just that davis can step up. but that the rest of the team is as good as we thought they were and not as bad as they looked last week.

vActually, I think Austin Davis will do better than most people seem to think. I thought, all things considered, that he did a pretty good job last week. He has taken nearly all the reps this week with the idea in mind that he might start. Not like coming in off the bench, cold, and his first live action in a real NFL game.

TSRFParticipantAlso, it is only the second game of the season. How can they be starting their 3rd QB of the season?

Ain’t THAT the question.
According to the best scientific explanation I can come up with, it’s the curse, I guess.

This just proves it has been a fake injury all along.
Fisher: “Yeah–we’re checking out Shaun’s shoulder to see if he can go.”
Schefter: “I thought it was his quad?”
Fisher: “Uh…yeah–quad..shoulder…either one.”

Uh…no.
Didn’t you know that you check a qb’s shoulder TO check the quad. See if the qb can step up and throw without pain in the shoulder, then the quad is good to go.
Guys, this is football 101 stuff. I swear the lack of football knowledge on this board is embarrassing sometimes.

Thanks for the info, and the gracious way of presenting it

Now. Is that right? If so why? How does a quad directly have an effect on the shoulder?
Or are you messing with us?
I am that anatomy ignorant. Every new type of injury there is, the first time I hear of it, I have to look it up. So if you’re joking I can’t even tell.

CalParticipantSorry, complete joke on my part!

znModeratorSorry, complete joke on my part!
Well it’s a very good one.
But you picked the wrong guy. (Or…the right guy, I guess.)
I am fairly anatomy ignorant.
I was ready to fall for it. I thought, okay, he made a bad throw cause of the quad, maybe if you check for throwing strength……
So…good one.
Now I am not THAT bad, mind you. When I got gout, I knew it was in my foot, and that it had to do with not eating enough red meat and seafood. But that’s all I knew.

Yes, I think so.
I’m having the “Grits Was Right” bumper sticker made now.
Davis did well under a lot of pressure. And man, he was clutch. I guess I’m ok with the feisty up-and-comer verses the old stodgy vet. I don’t think they are getting to the playoffs in this division anyway. Go for broke, this guy puts fire into things.
September 14, 2014 at 9:36 pm #7294
DakParticipantI thought Davis was more than fine. He certainly wasn’t the reason the team could only score one TD. If Quick catches that pass that hits him in the helmet, his day looks even better. And, of course, there was the clutch play, in general.

GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantAustin Davis showed us all today that he has the ability and he understands the offense. You don’t break all of Brett Farve’s college records and not have ability. Did you see how the team reacted to him? This guy is a winner and the more experience he gets and the more comfortable he becomes, we are going to see some great things out of Austin Davis.

I’ll say this–he certainly does look comfortable in the offense.
He had a nice game.
And Shotty had a great gameplan for him.
Now…can he stop the run? The Rams can use someone next week who can do that.
