Ugly start to the season. Scoreless 1st half and mediocre defense.

Gonna be a long damn season.

By virtue of the absurd ...

Everything. This team is crap on both sides of the ball and the coaching staff. Down by 31 points they kick a FG. SOSAR.

I don’t believe it will be a long season, and I think it is way too soon to talk about the draft.

There will be different opinions on this by my bet is they rally, and sooner rather than later.

Until Hill went out, they were holding up on defense, and killing themselves with mistakes on offense…but not being outmatched.

The rout was a result of Davis…but then how many teams look good with their 3rd qb.

For that matter…how mean teams play their 3rd qb in game ONE. !

In fact…how many times has that ever happened in the history of the game? QB 3 has to come in and play a HALF in GAME ONE?

And what was the score BEFORE that happened?

My enthusiasm for football lasted all of one half. I’d say see ya in 2015, but I’m just not sure. I might be all Rammed out.

That was painful but there is a lot of football left. Defense showed promise. I liked what I saw from Quick. Hekker is great. Many areas to improve over the season.

That’s the point you’re missing zn. Every year it’s the same,we’ll fix that. I don’t want to have to put the first came behind us and hope for improvement. I want a 1st game to be a statement “WE ARE HERE”

to be fair. the rams won last season. atlanta? everyone assumed the rams had arrived. but it was just the same inconsistent rams.

this year. nothing has changed my mind about that. but. only game 1 so far. we’ll see.

That was a really ugly loss and inexcusable after Snead and Fisher have had three years to put their team on the field.
I would suggest that Fisher may be on the hot seat after a few more of those.

It was actually the Cards a comeback victory Atlanta beat us.Same old problems that should’ve been eliminated years ago. 3rd and 7 10yds off on Patterson poor tackling missed assignments not knowing where to line up. If a Coach with Fishers experience is going to play someone he better know where to line up and where the sticks are. I am not accepting anymore excuses from Fisher.

    Really did the team in.

The sack of Davis in the 3rd quarter really hurt as well.

Yeah they killed themselves with penalties and mistakes in the 1st half. I thought that was all correctable IN THE GAME, if they had been able to keep Hill in there.

    Of course.

Hill made the big mistake before the half, but he was among the least of the offense’s problems.

Was the worst thing that could have happened to this team. Can they recover? I don’t know but if this offense doesn’t produce and put points on the board, you can start thinking about drafting another franchise QB because they should have a high enough pick. You may need to start thinking about either changes to the coaching staff of Jeff Fisher being fired.

I think the secret to this game was simple. Hill played hurt. He aggravated it during the game. Given that, there was some kind of number going on out there–players were pressing, and you do that when you don’t have confidence. It’s one thing to lose Bradford–that screws with the team’s psyche already–but now here’s a young team and they know their qb is limited and playing hurt and he’s THE #2.

(How many teams in the history of the game had to start their #3 qb in game one. I want to emphasize that. Played their #3 QB…in GAME ONE.)

If Hill hadn’t aggravated the thing and just continued as he was going, even hurt, they would have had a chance…it at least would have been closer.

i’m at a loss. i just expected a better result than this.

obviously, when hill went down, the chances of any kind of win went down the drain, but i expected something better than getting blown out at home.

i also think robinson needs to start soon. i have to believe that he could have made some difference in the running game. this offense is doomed without a running game.

the secondary was better than i expected which is a plus. i liked gaines and mcdonald. they were encouraging.

i’m also happy to see quick do well. hopefully, he can build on this.

I think it’s simpler than that. Hill didn’t go down–he re-aggravated an injury. That means he was playing hurt.

As for the run, it’s the same thing we saw last year with Clemens and Stacy. When teams stack against the run and dare the Rams to pass, they’re supposed to be able to pass.

And we don’t know how hurt Hill was.

    See the dilemma?

Meanwhile, most people are going to look at other things in trying to explain it. To me it’s simple. The team was pressing, Hill was playing hurt and they knew it.

Maybe that’s the real reason he didn’t play in Miami, in fact.

Hill was not hurt prior to the game. He would have had to be listed on the inhury report if he was.

Fisher said he hurt himself in the game and it got progressive worst.

    This team was ill-prepared.

I am talking about the entire team’s preformance. The common thread is that the Rams were not ready to play. That is Fisher’s responsablitiy.

Oh I agree there are reasons, just not reasons I am looking forward to seeing week in and week out.

After today’s performance, I am fairly convinced we will be experiencing the 12th consecutive season where the team does not post a winning record. That will be three seasons longer than the previous streak at 9 seasons and has to be right up their among all time streaks

It defies statistical randomness and is only more frustrating when the baseball team you support (Mets) just wrapped up their sixth straight losing season, one season short of their record streak of seven seasons.

    RamsMaineiac needs some wins. 🙂

Lots of angry fans out there Zack.I for one don’t understand why the OL looked out of sync.I’m not a big Saffold fan. He’s been on the Rams as long as Bradford and if you don’t include this year has been injured more than Bradford. Not to mention to see his team loyalty this past offseason given his injury history.

Well, to me, it’s as simple as this–the OL looked out of sync because it hasn’t played together. I don’t hold the fact that the Raiders tried to out-bid for him against Saffold. That’s the NFL. There’s no loyalty at contract time, and that cuts both ways.

Yeah he was. Hurt before the game. Wait for the full report on this. As for not listing him…Fisher got caught.

There are going to be questions about this regarding Hill for awhile.

I don’t know what the deal is on an injury or not or how much it affected his play.

But it was a shocking moment for me when I saw Davis come in–and to all the world it LOOKED like Fisher had just decided to make a switch. Hey–is it possible he thought Davis would provide a spark? He had to be frustrated. We were all frustrated. Hill did not look happy. But I don’t know what to read into that. Hill could have been hurt and Davis went in for him–as simple as that but no one saw anything that limited Hill’s ability to play so there are going to be questions.

It probably didn’t matter. They weren’t going to win with that Oline today–and that bothers me more than anything. They have three fragile China Dolls on the line in Saffold, Wells and Long–they draft a young guy and they spend most of preseason shuffling guys around and don’t let the young guy settle into one position for awhile. But that line could not move the Vikes, could not protect their QB and was essentially useless today.

It doesn’t matter who QBs or who runs the ball or who is catching if they don’t solve that problem.

The penalties, the mistakes….yeah–that just digs things a little deeper, but the Oline has to perform better—and I’m hopeful they will. I mean they have to–right?

First and foremost this team MUST be able to run the ball. Without it they can’t do much of anything.

I know I mentioned this to you earlier this evening. But, I think the secret to this game was simple. Hill played hurt. He aggravated it during the game. It’s one thing to lose Bradford–that screws with the team’s psyche already–but now here’s a young team and they know their qb is limited and playing hurt and he’s THE #2.

If Hill hadn’t aggravated the thing and just continued as he was going, even hurt, they would have had a chance…it at least would have been closer.

I agree. The offense was stunned without Hill 2 weeks after Bradford…Austin Davis?? Yikes. The team was a bit shell-shocked…
okay..A LOT shell shocked. They just looked so BAD…like they were stunned and disoriented or something.

This team will play better because the talent IS better than it has been in 10 years.
As a Rams fan, I’m too used to these types of letdowns…as I’m sure, most of you guys are too.
However, it’s a long season and it ain’t over til it’s over. 1 win and our hope will spring eternal. I thought Hill played pretty well but looked slow moving around…so the injury makes sense to me. but until that silly INT, Hill was making solid decisions and decent(but underthrown) throws. And did anyone notice? Our WRs caught every ball. iirc
Stacy dropped the one but RBs don’t count.

Quick played great and our DBs played very strong & aggressive(McDonald, MCleod, Joyner, Gaines, Jenks) so that was cool.
Our LBs disappeared and so did our DE contain….that’s what bothered me most besides the horrid OL play.
But, the defense just looked confused and lost…and they were all vets cept for Gaines/Donald/Joyner.
But hey Donald played well and had 4 tackles in limited time. Gaines was in good position most the time and tackled well.

Anyway, a loss. I’m not worried cuz I think Fisher will right the ship.
I do not believe Fisher will let this team be worse than .500….even without a QB.
He’ll do what the always does and get the ship righted like the did last year. We’ll see what these player’s have in their boilers! What they’re made of.

    Whatever.
I’ll see ya next Sunday. 😉

The preparedness is a major issue.Imo Fisher’s teams seem like fighters they won’t quit, but I don’t remember a game where his team was well prepared

Just watch the 1st half. That could provide some insight.

The 2nd half? Well I have been saying it all night so far but…that’s probably what happens when your #3 qb plays in game one…….
