That is the real problem. ED is intimidating. Sounds like the organization is trying to find something else to blame, but not look at themselves. This usually shows dysfunction with the organization. Stan Kronke seems he is more concerned about building a new stadium than worrying about having a winning team. We have a Head Coach that does not know how to win games. Plus, we will never sniff the playoffs, as long as he is still here as Head Coach.

Rams deny banning Eric Dickerson from sidelines after his critical remarks
The Rams’ legend rushed for the seventh-most yards in NFL history

    by Sean Wagner-McGough @seanjwagner 11m ago • 2 min read

The Rams are bad. You know this, it’s a safe bet that most of the Rams players know this, and Eric Dickerson definitely knows this. And that’s apparently a problem for the Rams, according to Dickerson.

The Hall of Famer, who is seventh all-time in rushing yards, said that he has been banned from the team’s sidelines.

“Someone from upper management called me and said I make the players feel uncomfortable about some of the stuff I say on the radio,” Dickerson said, according to TMZ. “They don’t want me on the sidelines. They don’t want me at the games. I was told this. They called me and told me this. Look, I love my football team. I want my team to win. If you got the nerve to call me and tell me that crap that I make the players feel — these are grown men.”

Dickerson continued, revealing what he told the person who called him.

“If you get fired, you will go someplace else, but I will still be Eric Dickerson of the Los Angeles Rams,” Dickerson said. “That’s why I wear that gold jacket. I have the right to say what I want to say.”

Shortly after the story broke, the Rams denied Dickerson’s claim.

So, what did Dickerson say that was so bad about the Rams? I’m not sure what specific comment caused this controversy, but back in September, Dickerson did have this to say about Rams coach Jeff Fisher, per Pro Football Talk:

“I like Jeff Fisher, I do. But liking a coach and then winning football games is two different things. It’s no different from a player that’s not performing. What do they do, they cut him or release him. The same thing with a coach, I mean, if you’re not gonna perform and you can’t have a winning football team, you’re just not gonna be there, especially in L.A.

“L.A. is a city [where] they want winners. You have to win in that city. I think it would be hard pressed for the Rams to go 4-12 or 5-11 this year or 6-10 and him keep his job. I mean, that’s just being honest about it. It’s all about winning in Los Angeles, because we don’t have those kind of fans that are just the loyal diehard fans like a Packers fan or a Steelers fan. I wish we did but it’s not there yet; the Rams have been gone for just too long.”

    And he said this Monday:

Neither of those comments are even critical of the Rams. If a coach doesn’t win, he’s not going to last long, though Fisher has certainly proven to be an exception to that rule throughout his tenure as the Rams’ coach. Furthermore, Dickerson has a right to be frustrated with his perpetually bad-to-mediocre football team. As he pointed out, he doesn’t work for the Rams, he’s just one of many fed-up fans.

The losses mount. The criticism mounts.

One would hope they do not get blown out a second game in a row.

Did Rams ban Eric Dickerson from the sideline?

    Nov. 28, 2016

    Updated 9:55 p.m.
Former Rams running back Eric Dickerson, here being honored Sept. 18 at a Rams Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence ceremony, says he was told he’s no longer welcome on the Rams sideline during games. The team says that’s not true.

By RICH HAMMOND / STAFF WRITER

THOUSAND OAKS – In a bizarre, public spat, Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson claimed Monday that Rams coach Jeff Fisher told Dickerson he is no longer welcome on the sideline during Rams games. Fisher offered a very different interpretation of their phone call.

“As long as he’s the head coach, I’ll never come to a Rams game. I’ll watch them from a distance,” Dickerson, who spent parts of five seasons with the Rams in the 1980s, said on Fox Sports Radio on Monday night.

Dickerson first went on his own show, which he co-hosts locally on 570-AM and said an unnamed person from “upper management” called him and said he made Rams players uncomfortable with his radio comments. Dickerson, for weeks, has been openly critical of Fisher and Rams management.

Rams chief operating officer Kevin Demoff quickly took to social media to say the Rams would always welcome Dickerson at games, and then Fisher, at his weekly news conference at Cal Lutheran, was asked about Dickerson’s comments.

Fisher said, “I don’t know where that’s coming from,” and added that he “had a really good conversation with Eric last week.”

“We welcome the alums. We welcome the tradition and the history,” Fisher said. “So, I don’t know where that’s coming from, Eric. But, I did have a really good conversation with him last week, as I did Jackie (Slater) and Jack Youngblood.”

Fisher’s answer apparently didn’t sit well with Dickerson, who told Southern California News Group that Fisher had made the comments that Dickerson didn’t attribute earlier. Dickerson then gave an impassioned interview on Fox Sports Radio.

Dickerson said Fisher called him approximately 10 days ago, after Dickerson had asked the Rams for extra sideline passes for a couple friends.

According to Dickerson, Fisher told him the Rams are “not going to have you talking about the team and having you come on the sidelines. The players feel uncomfortable with you on the sidelines, and as long as I’m the head coach here, you come to the games and you’re not going to be welcome on the sidelines. The players are uncomfortable with it. So I listened to what he had to say. He went on and on.”

Dickerson reiterated, several times, that he would not attend Rams games with Fisher as coach. Fisher could not be reached for comment after Dickerson’s radio comments. In his press conference, Fisher said he would welcome Dickerson to the Rams’ practice facility.

“I’d love to have him come in and come to practice, have him come to meetings,” Fisher said. “(Former NFL running back) Eddie George has been to my meetings more than Eric Dickerson has. I’d love to have him here.”

I can;t tell if this is a bad scandal or not. If it’s a tempest in a teapot, or the kind of thing that undermines a coach.

    “If you’re satisfied with 8-8 you’re a loser.”

    THANK YOU, Eric.

That sounded like a fan’s voice.

I’d like to get Fisher banned from the sideline–that’s what they need.

Anyway–if I were the Rams I’d politely ask Dickerson to talk to Gurley to see if he can help fix what’s broken there. I always believed Dickerson had some of the greatest vision in a running back I’d ever seen. I don’t know if he can help Gurley see some things but it’s worth a try.

Fisher and this team have earned the criticism. Oh–you don’t like it? How about–WIN! That’ll shut everyone up. Otherwise, put on your big boy pants and accept it for what it is.

Seems like a minor but embarrassing snit, to me.

I dont think Kronky cares about ED’s feelings.

My ‘guess’ is no-one will be talking about ED a week from now.

We would be lucky to get to 8-8. For me, I don’t care if we play boring football, or exciting football, ala GSOT days. I just want winning football. I want playoff football. I want our team to be considered a Super Bowl contender.

i have no idea which way it’ll go. it could go either way.

but i don’t think it will ultimately influence kroenke’s decision to keep fisher or not.

On the other hand since they moved back to LA the Rams have made a point to reconnect to former Rams players and the team’s history – both of which they were accused of abandoning when they moved to St Louis.

Given Demoff’s reaction the alienatation of fan favorite Eric Dickerson who has a popular podcast/radio show isn’t something the Rams are going to allow regardless of how Fisher may feel.

This sort of stuff means nothing when you’re winning but when you’re losing it can become a big deal – the final straw sort of big deal.

“The players don’t feel comfortable” I’d say when you’re losing like they are you shouldn’t be comfortable and they are especially Fisher. The language ED described fits , I can hear Fisher saying that and Fisher admitted to a conversation. Just sounds like Fisher trying to “coach” him and ED not having it. Now Fisher’s claiming he doesn’t know where it’s coming from, that is some weak shit right there. If you’re gonna make that move you have to own it.

ED on Rams drafting based on measurables:

“Looks like Tarzan. Plays like Jane.”

    So very true.

The upside to being a Rams fan is heartbreak.

    Sprinkles are for winners.

Maybe but i think it all goes down the media memory hole after about one week. Two at the tops. It’ll get talked-up during the Pats game, and then it’ll slowly disappear.

Corporations/big business react more to embarrassment than right or truth. So, the Rams will say, it was a misunderstanding and we love you ED. ED feels disrespected,so he won’t let go. Anyway, I sort of agree with wv ram, this will probably die down and the real issue will be winning vs losing.

I wonder what Bernie thinks. 😉

I don’t have a problem with them banning ED from the sideline. I mean, that’s where the team needs to be a team. You can’t have someone destroy a coach on tv and then you have to see them with you on game day.

I certainly wouldn’t want to work under those conditions.
If ED loves the Rams, he should do whatever it takes to HELP them. Publicly humiliating them is not really helping them IMO.

I would ban him for all the fumbling he did.

    Faulk didn’t fumble.

I think Cleveland Gary should be banned from the games too.
