Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher –– 12/24/15
(Opening statement)
“Well, we had a good day. We set the schedule up so that the players would come in a little bit earlier so they could enjoy the afternoon, evening and then the morning with their families and celebrate the Christmas holiday. We’ll come back in somewhere around midday tomorrow and get back into our meetings and then we’re obviously flying out to Seattle tomorrow evening.”
(On if they’ll have a walk-thru tomorrow)
“We’ll have a walk-thru, yeah. Meetings and walk-thru.”
(On if he’s thought about the possibility that tomorrow’s practice might be the last one in St. Louis)
“It’s not crossed my mind. No, not at all. I was into today and practice and the walk-thru. And then we’re going to go on the road for an extended period of time. We’re playing two divisional opponents. We’d very much like to win.”
(On his rationale for staying out west in between the next two games)
“Teams do it all of the time when you have the back-to-back road trips. It just made sense. As you guys know, we’ve finished in Seattle for what seems like decades now. So, the schedule makers put us in Seattle and then San Francisco. So, rather than going all of the way to Seattle, coming back and then going back out to San Francisco, we started making those plans months ago. We’re prepared to go out there and have a good week of practice.”
(On if he’s seen the practice facility they’ll be playing at)
“It’s the Raiders training (camp) facility. I’ve not seen it personally, but we’ve done all of our research and all of that. It’s more than adequate. It’ll be a good week of practice.”
(On if he’d like to finish the season at home one year)
“Those are the schedule makers and that’s OK. Fortunately for us, we’ll be able to look back on the final two home games here and feel good about winning the last two home games here.”
(On if the trip will be a team-bonding experience)
“Yeah, I thought we handled the preseason trip out to Southern California really well. Guys are looking forward to going out. You can appreciate how difficult it is from a support staff and an organization to get things set up and prepared so we can come in there and just hit the ground running on Monday. Everybody’s been through it before and we’re prepared. Our focus right now clearly is on the Seahawks.”
(On how different both teams are now compared to the Week 1 match-up)
“We’re without some of our players. (RB) Todd (Gurley) didn’t play in Week 1, so we’ve gained a few players and lost a few players. I think they’re playing really good football right now. Seven out of the last eight is pretty impressive. (QB) Russell (Wilson) is playing well. Their defense is playing well and they always seem to find a running back. Obviously, they declared (RB) Marshawn (Lynch) out. Hopefully, he’ll be back and ready for their playoff run. It’d be a great win for us to go up there and have a chance.”
(On if he’ll look to get QB Sean Mannion involved the last two weeks)
“I’m going with (QB) Case (Keenum). There’s a chance he might get some snaps. He’s getting a few more snaps on the practice field, but I don’t right now have any intention of putting him in the game right now.”
