    Anybody think Foles can be an Alex Smith type QB?
    Anybody think he can do what Smith did?
    Ie, get better if the system is tweaked a bit.

    I think Smith was more talented and more accurate, myself.
    So, i would ‘guess’, No. But I dunno.

    “…he best test case over the past decade is probably Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, taken first overall by the San Francisco 49ers in 2005. He was the first quarterback selected with a high draft pick to come out of a 2000s-era spread offense (at Utah), and he played for five different offensive coordinators, under two head coaches, in his first five years as a pro. In 54 games over that time, he completed 57.1 percent of his passes for 9,399 yards, 51 touchdowns, 53 picks and a 72.1 passer rating.

    In 2011, coach Jim Harbaugh arrived in San Francisco, and he, offensive coordinator Greg Roman and quarterback coach Geep Chryst made a point to slow things down for Smith. Roman told me at the time, “You could tell he was taught a lot of different things. … A lot of things were just a little bit off, because he’s been told five different ways to do it. We thought if we could narrow his thought process, the benefits would show.”

    In 56 games since, Smith has completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 11,459 yards, 71 touchdowns, 23 interceptions and a 92.8 rating….”

    I think yes it’s possible Foles can return to at least what he was in 2014. Maybe even better.

    I don’t know if it will be with the Rams.

    Do you think Fisher/cignetti made any obvious
    mistakes with Foles in designing the offense
    or dealing with the injuries, etc?
    Could they have prevented the meltdown?

    I don;t know but I doubt it.

    It was just a perfect storm of bad things. YOung OL, it got injured, Cigz turns out didn’t help things that much. I am one of those people who thinks the GB short-circuited Foles a bit and shot his confidence all to hell.

    Remember all those people who were down on Bulger when the offense fell apart around him? Marc stood up better to a couple of years of that than Foles did to a few games of that.

    They must have thought Foles was going to be at least OK. Or they wouldn’t have traded for him and then signed him to an extension. But Foles is entering Bradford territory, although he might make a come back. It would be foolish to bet the future on him now. So we need more options. I have faith in Mannion. But not so much in Keenum. We should look at the draft to see if we can add another option there. imo

    I think Bradford, if he can stay healthy, will benefit from stability in Philly.

    Foles, who knows? He’s been 3 different QBs so far. And, he looked so bad this year, it’s probably going to take some time and another QB getting injured before he gets another chance.

    But how would that work? If they draft another QB, say in round 2,
    then you have Mannion, Keenum, Foles and a Rookie.
    What if the rookie looks good — what do you do
    with Foles and his contract?

    Foles’ contract numbers are meaningless. It cost virtually the same to keep him or cut him. They have already paid the freight on that item. You never want to admit that you might have wasted ~12 million, but at the time, it looked like a decent gamble and he might play better again. You keep the best players. Having too many good players is never a problem. imo One of them will probably get hurt anyway. 😉

    Is there an NFL team that would even consider Nick Foles as a starter?

    With that said will Cigs ever get a gig as OC.

    Cigs – Foles was no Bueno…. The offense SUCKED

    I wonder if the Eagles will let Bradford go and sign RGIII. Probably not, but RG seems like the right set of skills for that O.
