New England … praise and blame

Wow. Look at that those regular season records. Consistent excellence. Yes, they have lost their most recent Super Bowls, but they won a few too (as we know).

I have to tip my hat and hope they win this year so Seattle can suffer the infamous Super Bowl loser hangover. Hey, they aren’t going to be able to pay everybody, so win or lose, they will be diminished.

WV, your question about why the leading receiver and leading rusher aren’t on the Patriots now? It really comes down to how they run this Offense. EVERYBODY (except Brady) is interchangeable.

Last time they played the Colts, Gray got like 250 yrds rushing. Hasn’t been seen from since. Last week against the Ravens, they didn’t run the ball like at all in the second half. This week? Didn’t have a catch by a WR in the second half.

Like him or hate him, the big B knows how to game plan like nobody on our team…

I think the Pats do the best job in the league at finding “pieces” that fit their team needs.

They seem to know when to let a guy go, and when to sign. I’m sure there are exceptions, but most of the time the Pats get it right.

Brady and Belli are as good as it gets at their jobs. Everyone else on that team can stay or go, but those two are the heart and soul.

That is amazing. Best franchise in sports. Unfortunately. I will enjoy them losing the Super Bowl to the Seahawks oh so much.

So the Pats are deflating balls? There is a joke in there, so I decided not to go there.

But if they can deflate my big gut, then I’ll be OK with it.

It rained constantly on Sunday in Foxborough, Mass., which made gripping the ball challenging. Obviously, a less-inflated ball is easier to grip than a fully inflated one.

I’m told at one point the officials took a ball out of play and weighed it. Should hear more tomorrow on this subject.

The league has guidelines on how much pressure the ball must have — between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch, weighing between 14 and 15 ounces.

Kravitz says the fine could be a stiff one if the Patriots are found guilty.

There was a delay before the third-quarter-opening kickoff that might have included game officials investigating the balls the Patriots were using.

Although there hasn’t been an NFL team accused or found guilty of this recently, former USC head coach Lane Kiffin — who, coicindentally, was named the front-runner in several reports to become the San Francisco 49ers’ offensive coordinator — was accused of doing the same against Oregon in 2012 before losing his job during that season.

The Patriots have faced accusations that they’ve skirted the rules for years, and they were penalized for spying on the New York Jets during the 2007 season with the loss of a first-round draft pick and a hefty fine paid not by the team but by Bill Belichick himself.

The Patriots benefit from playing in a division with Buffalo, Miami and the Jets. But yeah, they have always had a superior offensive line and play calling; technically sound defense and a good kicker. They attracted a number of high value, veteran free agents over the years because they always have a chance of going to the Super Bowl.

An interesting note about the Patriots. Brady is the Pats leading passer.
But their leading Rusher? Sam Cunningham. Last played in 1982.
Their leading Receiver ? Stanley Morgan. Last played in 1989.

Seems odd that their leading rusher and receiver
had no part in their glory years.

Well, i dunno. The post spygate team went 16-0. And came within a miracle throw/catch
of going 19-0 and beating the Giants to win it all.

I just cant minimize that kind of excellence.

I do enjoy loathing them, though.
But i cant dismiss them as ‘cheaters.’

But when you win…errr out score your opponent in 3 Super Bowls by 3 points vs the Rams, Panthers, and Eagles, all it takes in ONE 3rd stop in each game to make a difference in the game. If you have illegal tapes to help your defense make that 3rd down stop, you win, err outscore your opponent.

I wonder if Brady benefited from deflated football vs the Ravens last week? 1st time all year, the Raven allowed someone to throw for over 400 yards….

didn’t make a difference? i don’t know. my guess is while they still would have had a pretty impressive record over that period of time, it could have meant a difference of one or two superbowls. possibly?

anyway. as punishment they should make them play without cleats for the superbowl. and with leather helmets.
