I’d also like to see Jimmy G back. At some point Stafford is going to miss some games, one would think.

Right now they have 153+ M in cap space for 2027. That puts them 2nd in the league to the Jets. But then, a lot of important Rams players are not under contract in 2027.

Looking at the cap, they don’t have much in 2026. But then they have key players signed.

Problem with Hav is, if they cut him or he leaves, then they actually lose nearly 7M in cap space.

The only real gainer for cap space if they cut him is Darious Wms, who would save them 7.5M.

Here’s who has an extension in 2026:

    Matt Stafford
    Davante Adams
    Alaric Jackson
    Kevin Dotson
    Kyren Williams
    Quentin Lake
    Poona Ford
    Coleman Shelton
    Colby Parkinson

Sean McVay on extension-eligible Rams Puka Nacua, Byron Young, Kobie Turner and Steve Avila:

“Those are all guys we have strong interest in continuing our journey with those guys.”

This free agency class is bad. It usually is. Guys with a lot of age and there isn’t a lot of top talent. The overpays will be amazing to watch.

my not hot take is that this year’s free agent class is solid-to-good.

it lacks sizzle at the top, but its deeper. my spots 60-140 are better filled with more real starters than usual.

For teams like the Rams this free-agency-class is plenty-good. Cause the top teams only need a little tinkering. A player here, a player there.

The Rams have made their first in-house signing of the offseason, bringing OL David Quessenbery back on a one-year extension.

DQ has played at LT and RT (some guard) through his long NFL career.

Certainly a backup to Alaric Jackson, who dealt with a blood clotting issue last season. My guess is Warren McClendon’s job is safe.

The Rams tendered 3 exclusive rights free agents:

    K Harrison Mevis
    OG Justin Dedich
    WR Xavier Smith

Listened to a 10-minute segment on 9ers radio station this afternoon fretting about a piece Albert Breer wrote speculating on Maxx Crosby trade destinations. Apparently the Rams were one of three (?) teams he thought Crosby might get traded to. They did not love the idea of Verse on one side and Crosby on the other. I never saw the piece, but I gather it’s speculative rather than grounded in insider information, but I dunno. I would guess any such deal would include Byron Young in the trade package.

I don’t like the idea. I would rather have them pay their own developing FAs with their not-all-that-great-when-you-think-about-it cap space. Crosby would cost picks and big cap space.

Problem is that they have a bunch of guys that are going to cost big cap space. Can’t keep ’em all.

Who knows what Crosby will cost. It won’t be as much as Micah Parsons cost, I wouldn’t think. And is he a significant upgrade over Young? I dunno that. In any event, if the Rams are going to mortgage something, I’d prefer a Jalen Ramsey to a Von Miller right now. An upgrade in the secondary and a healthy season, and the Rams are going to have the shortest odds heading into the postseason.
