9ers are a mess.

TackleDummyParticipantDavid Carr had a very good game leading the Raiders to their second victory over the 49ers. He had 254 yards and 3 TD passes. The Raiders have won 2 of their last 3 games, losing 52-0 to the Rams between victories over the Chiefs and the 49ers. I think they show some character today after losing so badly last week.
On the other hand, the 49ers have a lot going that is not very good. I could actually see them losing 3 more games.

While I have no expectation the Rams can make the playoffs they are not officially eliminated yet.
All the sites show them as “in the hunt”.

Eternal RamnationParticipantI don’t think that is accurate. The Rams needed both Hawks and Cards to lose out and go 9 and 7 so they would win the division on tie-breakers. Wild card Dallas and Philly and vikes own tie breakers over Rams. Their shot was to win division.

c1ramParticipantThe SF (Niner) Bay Area has been in meltdown mode for weeks. Now this. It should be interesting around here the next few days.

OahuRamParticipantThe Rams can still get the Wild Card if Seattle, Detroit and Philly all finish 9-7. Go play with the playoff machine: http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine

c1ramParticipantNo way Seattle 9-7. Again, they are in the groove as the best team in the NFC. Rams could match up in Seattle but would be awfully surprise considering Wilson vs Hill.

Eternal RamnationParticipantYup you guys are right jeez I was still on the 3 division alignment. Still not likely but there is indeed a chance.

MackeyserModeratorRams could go to the playoffs if Detroit and Dallas go 9-7…
And that doesn’t require any change in the NFC West goings on except of course the Rams finishing 9-7… meaning winning out.
And let’s just say that if the starts align and the Rams get in… NO ONE’s going to want to play this young, HONGRY team

That’s the price of blowing games. And starting a season so deep in the hole.
Change any one of those games, and we’d have a good shot.
Change 2 and we’d be cruising.

True, but they also just squeaked out the games in Tampa and San Fran. Could be even worse. The record is what is is because this team took a while to put it together. That’s youth, and a new defensive system, and injured starting and backup quarterbacks, and probably some mistakes by the coaching staff — especially waiting too long to pull Austin Davis. (I also think that they could have beaten Arizona the first time if they go with Hill much earlier.) I still hold out hopes of 9-7, and if that’s not good enough to get to the playoffs, well they just weren’t good enough this year. Should be pretty damn hungry in 2015, though.
