On the coaching front: The #Chargers are hiring #Rams DC Brandon Staley as their new HC, per
@RapSheet. The man who some called the defensive version of Sean McVay will stay in LA and take over the Chargers.

    That sucks!

This has become a thing under McVay–trying to replace coaches.

I hear Wade Phillips is available.😀

I didnt think he’d be back.

McVay needs to hire some bad
    coaches, so they’ll stick around.

How does that happen so quickly after our playoff loss. When did they interview him and/or other options, during playoff week practices?

Yeah. You can interview while teams are in the playoffs now.

I get that you can do that, but given that we just lost a playoff game in which arguably it was not our Ds best performance, that would suck if his attention was not 100% on game.

FWIW, publicly the Chargers are saying they interviewed him today, so yet another post where my opinion / concern is moot. This is becoming a trend.

I expect Staley to poach a couple coaches from this staff. I offer the Special Teams coach. 😉

Hopefully Aubrey Pleasant will be named the new DC.

Yeah, he hasn’t been around long enough to know any coaches other than Rams coaches, so I expect him to try and poach a few…

that’s too bad he’s gone, but that’s life in the NFL, i liked him especially in the 2nd halves of games.

Rams Defense was # 1, but every year the NFL has a team that will rank #1 at defense, but that doesn’t mean that it’s a Steel Curtain, Doomsday, or Ray Lewis defense

This defense allowed Nick Mullins to drive the field to win a game.
This defense couldn’t stop Buffalo, 4th and fucking 10!
This defense couldn’t extend the Jets losing streak.

It was a #1 defense, a great defense but not elite.

If McVay and the Rams can replace a legend like Wade with something better, I think he can find someone capable to replace Staley.

that’s what’s so disappointing though. only one year in the system. how good could they have been with two… three years in the system.

coulda created something special. maybe not.

hopefully someone from within gets promoted, and we can see what more this defense can do.
