    ======================================
    Laram

Last year Austin was used on 9 routes, drags, crosses, mis-direction, bubble screens etc.

    This year not!

    Why?
    =======
The transition from Bradford to a 4th string qb hurt a lot for these young receivers, including Tavon, Britt, Givens and Quick. Bradford was starting to develop chemistry with those guys. All of these guys benefit from stretching the field, which Bradford can do. You don’t set an NFL record for consecutive 50 yard recs game and then all of a sudden can’t get deep.

Davis is not it, as I’ve said from the beginning. The clock has struck midnight. But I digress.

Tavon excelled against Carolina and Indy because he got singled with no help over the top. Think about it, in Indy Vontae Davis had him in one on one coverage both times with no help. Indy is predominantly a man coverage team.

In Carolina on the 9 that got called back, they caught them in single coverage. Teams are playing him differently now, he can’t create his on space, he’s not a great route runner, and he can’t break tackles.

Then what do you do with him? He’s not Percy Harvin or Darren Sproles who are tough runners that can break tackles.

He’s in the wrong offense. He needs a scheme and players that can open up space for him.

He cannot create his own space at this level.

The best thing the Rams could do fro themselves and Tavon is to trade him. The Saints are probably set now, but I would call every other team in the league and try and get something for him.

Do it NOW, before the trade deadline expires.

I dunno. Why cant AustinD throw some of
those kinds of passes? He’s been in the
system three years. His arm is decent enough.

Notice what kinds of passes he does NOT regularly throw, though.

The signature Davis pass is high slung for taller WRs to bring down, right?

I am talking about Tavon as an outside receiver past 10 yards. This has nothing to do with the bubble screens, which are obviously not out of Davis’s or any qb’s reach.

Tavon Austin is starting to look like a completely blown pick.

I haven’t given up on him entirely, but he isn’t the contributor we thought we were getting after trading up to the #8 spot to draft him. He’s just a guy. Who apparently can’t get separation or break tackles. Which doesn’t bode well.

Yeah, I’m not happy about Tavon,
    or Brockers for that matter.

But in some ways i feel pretty
    optimistic about this team.

    Its a weird combination of
    talent and youth and boneheadness
    and injury-proneness and mystery.

    Bottom line though — another
    year of double-digit losses.
    Hard to take. Year Three,
and another year of double-digit losses.

Next year, if i am Kroenke,
    Fisher HAS to win.

Yep. Davis likes throwing high to big tall receivers, (Britt, Quick, Cook). That’s the sort of receiver he needs. Still, I’m not sure it’s ALL Davis.

Need a QB to win. Despite the sometimes good play by Davis, I don’t think we can count on him as the starter next year. Can’t count on Bradford either. Drafted rookie – nope. Fisher ain’t winning next season either.

    Wow, blame Austin Davis? Really.

You guys need to watch the games before blaming Davis.

You’re way the hell off base.

Well, he’s got nine more games,
and i think most people are still
    undecided on AustinD.

I dunno what La thinks about QBs,
but i know what wv thinks — wv thinks
they need to fix the OLine.

Not sure they can count on Saffold.
    Definitely gotta jettison Long
    and Wells, imho. And Barksdale
is a free agent after this year
    aint he?

There’s actually been a couple of things that didn’t turn out right this year so far.

    Warrick Dunn

Well Dunn was offensive rookie of the year
and had three pro bowl appearances. So
that one worked out, i guess.

    Sometimes the little speedsters dont
work out. Gaston Green. Trung. Etc.

Too early to make any hard and fast
    conclusions about Tavon, for me.
But so far this year, he’s
    been a disappointment and nonfactor,
    obviously.
