The way I see it, the Rams won the Super Bowl with a unusual amount of elite players, a few good ones, and the rest were mostly young guys they got in late rounds, and then coached into coherency.

On offense, they had Stafford, Kupp, Beckham, and Whitworth as elite guys, and Havs and Higbee are good.

On defense they had Donald, Miller, Ramsey as elite, and Floyd is good. I don’t know what to call Eric Weddle.

Anyway, they have Donald left on defense, and Stafford and Kupp left on offense. Meaning that they are down to 3/7 elite players for this year. They have a ton of cap space for 2024 to rent more elite players, and they must know who is coming available next year, either through FA or for a trade. I think picking up 3 or 4 elite players with that cap space is doable.

Meanwhile, it’s interesting to me that the past two years, they have made their first picks Guards. I mean…Guards. Highly rated guards, two years in a row. I’m going to guess that that isn’t an accident. I don’t know what it means, but it means something. One or two of the film guys/posters commented that Avila doesn’t strike them as a “fit” for the Rams, but I don’t know what they mean by that. Maybe the Rams are planning to change what they are doing up front. Maybe the film guy is wrong. Maybe Snead is wrong.

I don’t know what it all means, but I do know it looks like the Rams are building for an assault in 2024 and see 2023 as a year to season a of guys along with the 2nd-year guys who are left manning the secondary. Apart from the 3 remaining elite players, the Rams just got a lot younger. On purpose. And they are going to add some very good vets to that mix next year.

Stupid pick. Truly stupid. With all the holes they have on this team, and all the starters they still need to add? They go for a backup QB, under six feet?

    The 49ers drafted a K in Round 3.

And he didn’t even win the Lou Groza award.

    I dunno.

    I never know.

Looks to me like they did not reload at CB or WR or TE, places I thought might need reinforcement.

But. They know more about the guys already on the roster that we haven’t really seen, and the McSnead era has been good to me, including 2 SB appearances, and one SB championship, so I say, bring it on.

Well, it looks like they’ve got the loss of Jalen Ramsey covered.

Hi guys so I was supposed to die in 2018 and I am still kicking somewhat. As long as they get over that F them picks I think think this is a good start

Rams fans never die. They just run a fade, and toast Eli Apple.

I think that’s all true but McV was not the patient coach who was going to coach Goff up. McV seems to be better with vets.

    George Allen.

All in all, if we’re talking about feeling really good about a team’s long term future via the QB?

I suspect that is the criterion he’s using. It’s the only one that makes ANY sense whatsoever of that list.

    But even so.

Matthew Stafford is 35. Kirk Cousins is 34. Geno Smith is 32.

Matthew Stafford is the fastest players to reach 25K, 30K, 35K, 40K, 45K, and 50K passing yards. His career QB rating is leagues superior to Cousins and Smith. He is possibly going into the HofF. Cousins and Smith won’t ever have their names mentioned as a prospective HofF player.

The only thing I can say positive about this list is that ALL lists are pretty much bogus. But this one is stupid in addition to being bogus.

Daniel Jones? Are you kidding me?

This list is an example of Recency Bias. So he may as well just have posted last year’s QB stats, and called it a day.

Placing Stafford #11 is ridiculous. He has Trey Lance/Brock Purdy rated higher than Matthew Stafford, the ONLY name on that list to win a Super Bowl.

Jordan Love is rated higher than Stafford. Jordan Love. The man with 606 yards passing in his CAREER.

Jalen Hurts and Jared Goff are the only other QBs in the conference who ever played clutch in a game that mattered. Ever.

I used to wish for the death of Henry Kissinger.

But the guy is so old now, I figure he will suffer more the longer he stays alive.

How much cap room would the Rams have if they got rid of everybody?

    Probably a lot.

I love the connection tween stafford and kupp. Its a rare thing. As long as stafford is playing, i would never trade kupp. They are more like one thing to me: stafford-kupp. Not time for a complete overhaul, imho. Try and draft well, and see what the Oline really is, and reassess after this season. w v

Sure looks like they are going to try very hard to run it back in 2024. At present, they have – what? – $58 million is space? That’s a lot. A whole lot.

That buys you some pieces, right there.

My personal peak for NFL helmets is 1987. The helmet changes after this season and into the mid/late 90s were all a downgrade imo. Chargers (88), Falcons, Jets (90), Patriots (93), 49ers, Eagles (96), Bucs, Broncos, Dolphins (97) and Titans (99).

I think they are more likely to get high-end production out of Kupp for the next 3 or 4 seasons than they would from #25 draft pick guy.
