ZooeyModeratorI’m guessing I’m not the only one looking forward to having Bailey on the field.
I’d like to see more action with Britt, too.
And Trey Watts.
Alex Bayer while I’m at it.
Some points would be good.

But the QB isn’t to blame for lousy run defense or all the sloppy penalties.
No but time down in the pre-season is responsible for a lot of it, I think…another pattern.
Last year too, the run D started shakey, and the diagnosis was the same as now–gap discipline, basically.
Okay, well if the run defense comes together, I will raise his grade. Right now, 6.66. That’s final.

That image of Coy Bacon is from a stamp in the “NFL Action 72″ stamp book. You got some stamps when you purchased gasoline at Sunoco stations. Thanks to my dad and one of his friends I have the complete collection.
Thanks to Snowman, I have a bunch of those stamps, too. He had some kind of contest on the board, and I won. I don’t remember what the contest was, but I remember the stamps and his generosity. Pretty cool.

ZooeyModeratorI’m surprised Dunbar got fined for that hit. I assumed the ref just didn’t have a good angle, but on film, it looked like it was incidental contact.
ZooeyModeratorCharlie Krueger came to our town to sign autographs when I was a kid. He asked me my name, and I said “Les Josephson.” He laughed, and asked if my name was Les. At which point I felt like an ass.
I drew an arrow through his head on the photo when I got home.
Kids.
ZooeyModerator6.66 is a good number for Fisher in many ways, but if that number represents him, why haven’t the results been better so far?
Faustus won the World Cup in his first year, bedded all the cheerleaders, and got a $250 million dollar contract from Reebok.
He gets an A- for drafting from me, though there are some whiffs.
He gets an A for coaching hires, although I don’t think those coaches get As for their production.
He gets a C for coaching. Done some good things. Still has tattered cohesion.
6.66
ZooeyModeratorI have wondered the same thing over the years.
I’m not sure the herd is a representative sample, though. They ran off all political dissidents, and a good chunk of liberals a while ago. I mean, the same question is discussed here, and we are all football fans, and the overall attitude is different here. So if you just read this board, you would think football fans tend to be part of the liberal conspiracy.
It is something, though, that domestic violence is seen as a part of the liberal agenda. What does that even mean? My guess is that righties are more comfortable, generally speaking, with violent “solutions” than liberals are. I think that’s true.
But as for the demographics of sports fans…I dunno. I bet somebody has done a study on that, though.
ZooeyModeratorThat was awesome.
I see that his appeal worked.
ZooeyModeratorHill is the starter this year unless he performs poorly multiple times. Davis, if he continues to play well, may be playing to replace Hill as the #2 next year. And they aren’t going to keep both Keenum and Gilbert on the roster next year. There’s really all kinds of ways this can play out before next year since there are so many QBs, and possibly another rookie added in the draft. The current 4 QBs are playing for no more than 2 spots next year. One spot if the Rams draft a QB.
ZooeyModeratorYeah, I’m liking TJ. I can definitely get used to having that guy back there.
I hope he doesn’t turn out like Toby Wright, though.
ZooeyModeratorThey are both backups, so I assume that Fisher goes with whoever has the hot hand. Davis should be the one.
One TD in six quarters isn’t what I think of when I think “hot hand.”
ZooeyModeratorReminds me of TJ Rubley

ZooeyModeratorSpeed Kills
the Rams could and should get Tavon going vertical more often and on the outside. No one can run with him… so get him down the field. Though I don’t have an issue the Rams running Tavon up the middle … they just need to execute it better (and obviously won’t make a living at doing that)
I DO have an issue with them running Tavon up the middle. I don’t know how they could think that would work. That would be a call I would make in Week 13 on a 3rd and 4 after doing nothing but using Tavon on pitch-outs and screen passes for the first 12 weeks.
Well, Tavon did not have a good day, did he.
ZooeyModeratorI just posted this in another thread before I saw this one, and it really belongs here.
Wagoner is right. This kind of crap just has to stop. The Rams are not good enough to overcome this showing. I expect more discipline than this in Year Three, even if the Rams remain the youngest team in the league. Every one of these penalties is on a veteran.

ZooeyModeratorHere are the penalties. Several at really bad times. All of them on veterans.
They aren’t good enough to overcome self-inflicted adversity.

ZooeyModeratorexcellent. then let’s improve it more. 135 and 4.7.
i think they should pattern themselves after the seahawks. strong running game and ypa.
edit. strong running game. and a strong yards per PASS attempt.
seahawks despite ranking very low in TOTAL yards per game passing had a strong yards per pass attempt.
I agree.
135 points per game would be awesome.
And only 4.7 points allowed?
That would be a dominant team, for sure.
September 7, 2014 at 11:38 am in reply to: Jim Harbaugh losing San Francisco 49ers' locker room? #6386
ZooeyModeratorEnh.
There may be issues, but the contract extension would be management/Harbaugh issues, not player/Harbaugh issues. And I think players know to tune out the contract stuff. That matters only if there is a holdout that hurts the team, and even then, serious division isn’t necessarily a consequence.
And practicing in Baltimore for a preseason game? A handful of people may be “irked,” but it ends there unless stuff keeps piling up.
The serious question is how does Harbaugh relate to the players and manage the team. There have to be serious issues there before there is a problem worth writing about…unless you have nothing better to write about prior to a deadline.
So…if there ARE deeper issues, then write about those. Otherwise there is nothing but smokey column inches.

ZooeyModeratorThe thought of losing to the Vikings is totally unacceptable.
Rams win.
I will add the Raiders, Cowboys, and Washington to that list.
Rams are 4-0, and the season hasn’t even started.
ZooeyModeratorWe will rally around Adrian Peterson, and crush him into the ground.

ZooeyModeratorI agree with Dak. My thought on reading the list was to think I would keep Sam over Every Blake. I see WR #5 as basically a spare WR in case of injury, and then you keep one on the practice squad. I don’t think 3 spare WRs total makes sense. And I’d rather have a DE working to eventually replace Sims than keep Emory Black to replace Franklin after Franklin replaces somebody on IR.
ZooeyModeratorI wonder who is out when Bailey comes back. Is it as linear as Pettis?
I think Givens beat him in the pre-season. If you take last season into consideration, there is a case to be made that Pettis is more reliable. Depends on whether the Rams think they need a potential playmaker more, or a solid hands guy. I don’t think, really, that they need either one. But I think I’d keep Givens. Pettis isn’t going to improve, and Givens might.
ZooeyModeratorCrap. Means I saw it on a news website, or something. No luck in History. I’ll have to look again.
Thanks.

You knew I was going to post this in the other thread, so you just HAD to jump on the board and beat me to it, is that it?
ZooeyModeratorChris Long’s stock jumped.
This reminds me of the good old days when women were first allowed in the locker rooms.
Humans have such a hard time adjusting to new paradigms, however slight the change, that it just makes me feel sorry for all 7 billion of us.
{sigh}
ZooeyModeratorWell. Hope is the thing with feathers.
Just remember that.
