    Rewind: Rams v Bucs.

    A few stray thots

On their first drives, Both teams drove the length of the field using a mix of runs and passes. But to me, it sure looked like the Rams defense was more ‘dangerous’ than the Buc defense. The Ram defense has issues stopping the run, obviously, but I just had the impression the Ram D was always a whisker away from making a big play.
They haven’t put it all together yet, but I still feel optimistic about this defense. There’s definitely a problem with the Run D, but I don’t think it’s a personnel-being-overpowered-problem. I kinda think this D is a sleeping giant. Maybe I’m wrong.

Losing Gerald McCoy was huge for the Bucs. The Rams attacked up the gut after McCoy left the game.

Fisher’s decision to call time out and Ice Legatron
In the first half was the play of the game : )
    Legatron missed the FG,
But Fisher called timeout so he got a second chance.

Favorite play: Austin Davis has just been sacked. The ball is around the rams ten yard line. Third quarter. Instead of calling an offtackle play, BS lets the third-stringer throw
The ball down the field to Cook – Big completion. Shocked me. That was a Martz call.

I could be wrong, but Stacy seems a little less reckless with his body. He seems just a bit more…oh, I dunno….’careful.’ Not sure if that’s a good thing or not.

Austin Davis — looked good, but he does not have the arm that Hill does. Austin floats the ball. Austin got Tavon killed and he got Harkey killed with floaters. I don’t even know how Harkey is still alive. Having said that, Austin’s floaters are pretty accurate.

Also, Austin throws the ball a bit high, in general. That favors which WR? – Pettis, of course: Mr Long-stretchy-arms.

Austin had a nice running game going. Its not that hard for a QB to play this game, as long as he has a running game. Hill did not have a running game against the Vikes. When the Rams can run, they – to state the obvious – are going to be competitive. (It helps when Tampa is without three starters on the Dline)
I loved Austin Davis’ body-language on the sidelines, btw. He was pacing up and down
with a fierce look on his face, after the drop by Pettis lead to a Z-field goal. The guy sure doesn’t seem fierce in his interviews, but I guess he’s different on the field.
He reminds me a tad of Jeff Garcia. A little smoother than Garcia, a little less fiery, but there’s some similarities.

Aaron Donald – awesome play in the redzone. Just exploded through a hole
and made a big tackle for loss in the third quarter. Quinn-like-quickness on the inside.
If Donald can somehow learn to stop the run, look-out. Quinn and Donald – Mr Outside and Mr Inside.

Brian Quick – very disappointing drop late in the fourth quarter with the game on the line. I thought Austin Davis made his best pass of the night – long bomb – and Quick botches the catch. Ugh. Such beautiful pass protection on the play. Beautiful pocket. Perfect heave by Austin. Lets all agree to never call Quick an no.1 receiver until he can make contested catches.

    TJ looks like a beast. A Ronnie-Lott-Beast.

Yeah, I’m liking TJ. I can definitely get used to having that guy back there.

I hope he doesn’t turn out like Toby Wright, though.
