It would have been easier to follow if you hadn’t posted the Gonzalez article one minute before I posted my remark, since that blew the timing of the joke. It’s like you were the drunk guy at the club that yelled out something right over the punchline. And it was worth a 3/10 even as is.

I aint a fan anymore. Too many muffs, too many drops, too many fumbles.
I think they will always outweigh the big plays.

I aint a fan of Phar.Cooper either, btw.

Well, I can’t guess what made you start hating America like this, but I guess the next step in your descent is to become a fan of the Nittany Lions.

    because they lost watkins?

Probably because nobody would trade for him, and they crunched numbers, and figured this was a better value than cutting him altogether.

I’m surprised a little, but whatever. So far they have been righter than me.

Just watching more of the footage. “Enough is Enough”.

These kids are going to vote, and soon.

Unfortunately, there are going to be more shootings. With the number of guns out there, how can there not be? My one hope through this madness is that subsequent horrors will harden the resolve of these kids and they will be the ones to change the course of our country.

    I hope so.

I just can’t help but think that time works against these sentiments. I mean…most voters are not single issue voters. They vote “identity,” or on the basis of what is “hot.” If the election were right now, the gun issue would be a big factor. Eight months from now? Well…the nation will have endured several more emotional turns that will leave Parkland in the dust. Probably.

The kids will have to keep it up. Right now, they are at a high water mark. It’s hard to sustain. But…maybe this solidifies a generation’s identity. It looks like the under 30 crowd is largely…Not Republican. And identities don’t change much past 30. So we have a wave of people who are headed towards 30 with much more social consciousness than the Boomers had.

    We’ll see.

The test is going to be time. How long can they keep this up? Because…to win this…they will have to keep it up for YEARS. Not a month or two.

    2. #Rams are high on Josh Reynolds as a replacement for Watkins, and Mike Thomas will also be in the mix. But obviously wide receiver is now a position they’ll also look to the draft and free agency to address.

This kind of comment always strikes me as self-contradictory.

If the Rams were high on Reynolds, they’d be set at WR. Semantics, maybe, but still. To me…being “high” on somebody ought to mean being “sold” on them. And if they are going to still fish around for WR help, that implies that they are not fully confident that Reynolds is going to be what they want him to be.

The Rams have a good group of young WRs. I wouldn’t panic. They’ll be fine.

I don’t see anybody panicking. The Rams would be better with Watkins than without him. How much difference it will make in Wins, nobody can say.

I’m not shocked, especially since the cap went up, and the FA pool is not saturated. But while I hoped to keep Watkins, I don’t think that number works with Donald, Gurley, and Goff needing new contracts. Watkins was more expendable than any of those guys.

younger corner coming off an injury vs older corner who knows the defense but can be a loose cannon.

i guess we’ll find out if the rams made the right choice.

    Yeah, we will.

But in the mean time, bear in mind that the 49ers first choice was also Talib, and Sherman is Plan B. So they were thinking the same thing the Rams were.

Reaction to Seahawks moves has been a bit over the top

I would hate it if I was a Seahawks fan, too, but they are right to turn the page. These are expensive players who are getting up there in years, and who have been seriously injured.

Time to reload around Wilson, and rebuild the D. That’s Salary Cap reality.

Seahawks trade Bennett to Eagles. I saw it was for a 5th round pick and a WR that doesn’t play.

And you want a 4th round pick for Tavon Austin?

    See…that’s not happening.

i guess i didn’t realize talib blacks out at times and has shot himself in the leg…

    hmmmm….

Well… at least he’s never blacked out or shot himself during a game. I mean…look on the bright side.

If four teams are interested, one of them, may get greedy and trade a 4th round pick. With the Steelers and Ravens it is more of a late 4th. The Jets have no really talented WRs for which rookie QB they draft to throw to.

And if the Jets traded for Austin, they STILL wouldn’t have a talented WR for a rookie QB to throw to.

Nobody is going to give a 4th.

I will be a little bit surprised if they get anything at all. Anything.

Maybe a 6th AFTER the Rams eat the roster bonus.

I listen to NPR while I’m at work. That’s the only mainstream news I listen to. I’m not saying it’s measurably better than any other mainstream news outlet, but like Zooey, I listen to it to see what events the general public is being exposed to.

I get most of my news from just reading around the internet.

I sometimes listen to NPR in the car – 15 minute commute to work. But I find them somewhat tedious. I mean…I guess I’m glad that someone is peeling back the cover of the folk music and tamale festival in Austin…but I really don’t care. For actual news, you have to turn it on at just the right time, and even at their best, their comparatively in-depth coverage is still shallow.

    I like reading.

I seem to always have about 3 or 4 tabs open in my browser of articles I want to read when I get the time.

I find it hard to believe anybody would trade for him.

It wouldn’t take much, and you eliminate having to compete against other teams. I would think the issue would be more along the salary lines then compensation. If some team thinks his contract is okay, they could get him for a 6th or 7th, I bet.

The closest I get to mainstream TV news is that I tune in to the PBS Newshour on Friday nights about 3 or 4 times a year to watch the Mark Shields/David Brooks commentary. Oh, and sometimes the round table on the Sunday morning Stephanopolous show. Just to hear the mainstream op-ed perspective after a week of significant domestic political news. I guess I’m just curious as to what the “pulse” of the nation is like sometimes.

I don’t think I ever tune in to get “news” from TV.

    they need an edge rusher.

sign avery williamson. then draft the best pass rusher available. then draft a nose tackle.

unless vea is available. then draft vea…

i can’t take this. draft needs to happen next week already.

    Yeah, I’m very disappointed, actually.

The Rams made no trades, and signed no one today. Boring.

What does an uncontested pass look like? I think I have seen a few in my life, but in the 6,000 football games I’ve watched, only about a dozen passes were uncontested.

I just hope that this turns out better for the Rams than Asomugha and DRC did for the Eagles dream team of 2011.

    Again.

Both those CBs for less than the cost of Trumaine Johnson.

Plus a 3rd round pick next year.

I am giving this a thumbs up.

Aqib Talib will rip off someone’s chain, and then Marcus Peters will throw it in the stands?

    LOL.

    That is pretty brilliant.

This is certainly the end of TruJo. I mean…the Rams have now got two Pro Bowl CBs for less than the price of one TruJo.

    The Rams are certainly busy.

So now they have to replace Quinn and Ogletree, Barron, and Barwin.

Good lord, the Rams on paper are going to get a lot of love in the preseason blabbing.

But you didn’t list two 4ths. You said 111 or 130.

It’s 2 4ths. 1 is 111 or 130, we don’t know yet. The other is tba, from the Giants. Hence:

    1. Round 4 (111 or 130)
    2. …tba, Giants

So…what you’re saying is…make sure the Prince doesn’t leave this room?

    Wait…didn’t we get Miami’s 4th?

And where is the Rams’ 4th?

Rams 4th was traded for Peters.

It is the year of 4ths and 6ths.

First of all…that equals 9, so I make a motion that zn is removed as Treasurer of the Board.

    No it’s 10. 1 1st, 1 3rd, 2 4ths, 1 5th, and 5 6ths.

But you didn’t list two 4ths. You said 111 or 130.
