Yeah. I’ve been trying to come up with something for this.
All I could think was “Hey, Libertarians. Now is the time for you to step up and show how private capital can step up and fill the vacuum created by the absence of government.”
But…that’s not very pithy.

ZooeyModeratorI think we should be able to out score them. Also I hoping to unleash a 2-headed run game. Get TG30 his magical 17 touches and give CJ Anderson 10-13 touches mainly the short yardage type. This will give our OL an edge they want. Their CBs can’t hang w/ our WRs so focus on a truly balance attack. Mix in some hurry up to not let them get subs into the game and attack them!
Ed
Yeah, I think the Rams should be aggressive. I think they should pass to set up the run.
Looks to me like Dallas is best suited to stopping the rush game, and weaker on the back end. So attack them. And when the Rams have the lead, mix in the run.
ZooeyModeratorlike i’ve said before don’t really care who the rams play.
don’t care if the eagles win and, assuming the rams win their game, the home field advantage goes back to the rams.
although. yes. as petty as it may be. i don’t want the chargers to have any success. is that wrong?
Of course it’s not Wrong.
The scriptures says nothing about being petty. There are a lot of rules about all kinds of human behavior, but nowhere can you find a single text that cautions against rooting against a football team for some nebulous motivations involving bizarre geographical loyalties. So it’s not wrong. At least, not in a Classical sense.

ZooeyModeratorYou know after the Kansas City game the media was all agog, about how the NFL is now a pinball league, etc.
Well…apparently not. Lots of defense in the NFL these days.
I watched the Cowboys beat down the Saints. I have no idea why the Rams are 6 point favorites.
w
vHowever…The #NFL’s 1st, 2nd and 4th ranked defenses were one and done this weekend.
ZooeyModeratorThe Path of Redemption would have been Chicago, New Orleans, Boston.
We are not on that path at the moment, but could still get 2/3 of it.
Rooting?
Nah. Don’t care.
They have to beat everybody in their path.
I do agree with Nittany, though, in that I don’t want the Chargers to have any success in Los Angeles. I want them out of town.

ZooeyModeratorI am expecting points to be scored early and often.
And I think that the more points that are scored, the better for the Rams.
ZooeyModeratorRams 7-1 at home.
Dallas 3-5 away.That’s encouraging.
It’s a good slate of games. There isn’t a thing that would surprise me this weekend.
ZooeyModerator
ZooeyModeratorAgree, yeah. I think the Rams would have handled the Bears. I am less certain about Dallas.
Dallas has a formidable OL, Prescott is good enough, and Cooper and Elliot give them the weapons.
Their run defense is very good, so Gurley isn’t going to carry them very far.
Looks like a tougher matchup to me.

ZooeyModeratorThe man could play. And he did it for a lot of really bad teams too.
Yeah, and I think he may not hold as high a place in the pantheon as he should because of that. He was a great player.

ZooeyModeratorThose look like some good games.
Good playoff year looks like.
I don’t remember a year when there was less difference between the #1 and #6 seeds than this year.
There is not one team playing this weekend that I’d be amazed if they went to the Super Bowl. Maybe the Cowboys or Colts, but I haven’t actually seen them play this year, so I don’t know. But would anybody really drop dead with shock if the Chargers (#5) ended up against the Eagles (#6)?
Really…I don’t see any “Gimme” games in the entire bracket. I don’t remember a season like this before.
January 2, 2019 at 10:53 am in reply to: NRR … tweets from around the NFL including coaching hires … 12/31 & 1/1 #95964
ZooeyModeratorI could not care less, but if I’m the Browns, I sign Williams if he will take the job.
He just proved to you he can coach that team to win.
That’s something the Browns haven’t done since Byner fumbled. Why on earth would you roll the dice on somebody else? You HAVE a guy who is working. Don’t try to fix that.
But…you know…it’s the Browns.
ZooeyModeratorSo Kupp had 3 of those, and he played half the season.
So…yeah.
ZooeyModeratorOn behalf of the Chinese, the Indonesians, the Jews, and everyone else who is disdainfully excluded from this western Imperialist Holiday, I would like to say…Ah! Champagne!
ZooeyModeratorBeating the Bears would go a long way with me. Even if they lost
the next week.
Coz da Bears just humiliated them in Chicago. Bullied them.It would be huge to turn that around.
w
vYeah, me too. That’s why I want the Bears. That is the Bar for me. The season started for me with expectations that the Rams would be in the hunt, in the Top Four teams with realistic Super Bowl contention. If they lose to the Bears twice, then the Rams do not belong there. They are a pretender, not a contender. And I want contention. That is my Bar. It will feel like a lost season to me if the Rams’ only improvement was to earn a bye in the playoffs. That isn’t enough. They have to win a playoff game this year, and it should be against the Bears. They already beat Seattle twice, and Dallas – although they are better than average – are not a contender. Dallas is probably not going to beat Seattle, and if they do, that’s the end for them no matter what, I think.
The Bears are real, and they handled the Rams, and for the sake of self-respect, the Rams need to handle them back.
December 31, 2018 at 12:34 pm in reply to: Playoff game 1: who do you want to see / expect to see? #95881
ZooeyModeratorIt’s going to be the Bears, and I want it to be the Bears.
There is no easy path this year. Whether it’s the Bears, or Seahawks, or Cowboys, the Rams are going to struggle to win.
But I don’t think the Bears can handle temperatures in the High 60s. That team is just not built for that kind of weather, and I think it will take a toll on them. Also…Todd Gurley, and Andrew Whitworth have fooled everyone by pretending to have injuries, and Chicago won’t be prepared for them.
Anyway, Seattle is the team I least want to see as well.

ZooeyModeratorNFL Update@MySportsUpdate
None of the 6 highest paid QBs in the league made the playoffs in 2018. They combined for 31 wins.Aaron Rodgers: $33.5M
Matt Ryan: $30M
Kirk Cousins: $28M
Jimmy Garoppolo: $27.5M
Matthew Stafford: $27M
Derek Carr: $25MMeanwhile…the 2 highest paid defensive players ARE in the playoffs.
ZooeyModerator13 Wins in the NFL is a rare thing. Great accomplishment. McVay has what, 11 and 13 in his first two seasons? Thats ridiculous.
Of course McVay is 0-1 in the Big Dance. 0-2 would raise a tentative whispering question in wv-brain: what if he’s another shottenheimer?
They earned their Bye. They earned their home game. But are they legit, or are they paper-rams? I have to say, I’m not sure.
w
vBoy, it’s not hard to tell who the Russian trolls are on this board.
The 9ers game, I think, taught us nothing. Maybe…MAYBE…we saw a defense that is starting to get itself together a bit. But maybe not. Hard to tell when it “gets together” against AZ and SF. Regardless, I think one of the big questions heading into the offseason is “WTH happened on defense?” Because the combination of Wade and all the retooling on defense led to higher expectations for this team than we got. There are a lot of first rounders on that defense who played like JAGs. Brockers and Suh both seemed pretty average, at best. Barron was MIA. Peters couldn’t play without Talib. Joyner made no case for a big contract. Hill regressed…or played over his head last year. We have Donald, Littleton, Johnson, Talib…and some guys. I think that falls short of expectations, and I don’t know anything about why that is so. All I know is that is what I see.
To say the least, the Rams had better win in two weeks, or else there is going to be a riot among Rams fans. I mean…to start 8-0, or whatever it was, and then just descend into mediocrity, and then One and Out in the playoffs…would not be well-received. And that would be tough to get over, though we would eventually reconcile ourselves to it, and give the draft an standing ovation, and look forward to next year. Because that’s football. But…man…that would be bad.
I like the Rams’ chances of winning that first game. 60/40ish. But…basically…I am looking at trying to win 3 consecutive coin flips. The odds of that are 12.5%, btw. So my precise calculation of the Rams’ chances of winning the SB this year is 12.5%.
ZooeyModeratorThe post title could have been “Rams play in the late slot.” woulda been the same thing.
And I already saw “Bird Box.” Robin Williams and Nathan Lane are poised for breakout careers, imo.
December 28, 2018 at 6:55 pm in reply to: did people lose faith after the Bears/Eagles games? #95769
ZooeyModeratorYeah, my expectations are down. I mean…this is not a Super Bowl team. It just isn’t. Not by my infallibly precise Eyeball Test that has been studiously following football since 1967.
However.
I will say that the Truth is that no other team in the NFL is a Super Bowl team, either.
So the shit’s up for grabs, the way I see it.
I don’t know if this is a fluky season of extreme parity, or if the rule changes favoring the offense have changed the game more radically than anyone expected, but…man. The Saints, Rams, Chiefs, and Chargers are putting up some sick offensive numbers, and usually there is only a team…maybe two…in a season who steamroll like this.
Meanwhile…the teams with Defenses have no offense. And the old maxim that Defense Wins Championships is probably under duress right now due to the aforementioned rule changes.
In any event…the past few weeks lead me to have lessened my expectations from Super Bowl, to NFC Championship game, with a One And Done not out of the question.

December 27, 2018 at 10:25 am in reply to: Saffold has seen it all and wants to come back for more #95733
ZooeyModeratorSaffold has been pretty good. And although he had a few consecutive seasons of injuries that made people question his durability, those were all flukes, and he’s been steady for a long time. The Rams have no replacement for him. Re-signing him seems like a no-brainer to me.
December 26, 2018 at 1:17 pm in reply to: 9ers @ Rams…w/ broadcast map, Rams get Spielman again #95698
ZooeyModeratorI don’t have much knowldege of the 49ers this year. After Garoppolo went down, the season was over, and I have not heard anything about them since. They had already lost McKinnon, I think. So that’s that. Whatever they had to offer, it was gone. Just imagine the Rams without Goff and Gurley.
Season Over.
Usually I unavoidably hear about the 9ers (and Raiders) because that’s what people talk about up and down the radio dial. But 9er talk just stopped, basically. All the fans and the radio hosts just turned the page.
Matt Breida and Dante Pettis are also out, so the 49ers will not score. I’m sure the Rams will make RB Jeff Wilson look like a legitimate NFL RB since the Rams are good at that kind of thing, but it won’t be enough.
This has all the makings of one of those games that will resemble an NFL game in a semi-satisfying way for about the first 28 minutes, and then just turn into a time-killing slopfest with the Rams just playing not to lose, and the 49ers mentally cleaning out their lockers by halftime. I think it’s going to be difficult to sit through.
ZooeyModeratorI think Donald needs 3 sacks next week to get serious run for league MVP, however.
at least. but i think it’s too late. if the saints lost last week and then this coming week. then maybe donald has a chance to win. if he gets 4 sacks next sunday.
but then mahomes would also have to lose again next week or he’d probably get it over brees.
all under the scenario where the saints lost last sunday which they didn’t. i think brees is a virtual lock for the award.
I do, too.
I think Brees gets it even if Donald gets the sacks. He would just get more votes if he does.
ZooeyModerator
ZooeyModeratorI love Robert Woods, too. He’s my favorite player right now, and I think he is completely underappreciated.
I don’t know if he is team MVP, though. The Rams would be dead without Donald, Goff, or Gurley. I can’t imagine the Rams’ defense without Donald. Good lord.
I think Donald needs 3 sacks next week to get serious run for league MVP, however.
