znModeratorYeah, offensive line play has been impressive particularly given the concerns all of us fans seemed to have before the season began.
I agree with all that, but I do want to underscore the fact that the concerns (or rather, questions) we had were legit, based on what we knew at the time, before the season actually took place. Though during the summer I tended to argue that the OL would be fine–my issues were with the 2022 season, when they face the possibility of losing AW, Noteboom, Allen, and Corbett to retirement/slash/free agency.
The OL play has been good overall, and though I said in advance it looked to me like it would be solid, they were better (overall) that I had predicted.
2022 is still an issue but nowhere near as challenging an issue as we were saying over the summer.

Anyway, like Goff, it comes in bunches. MS (like Goff) isn’t consistently an issue. But (like Goff) he has collapse games. He has 3 games with 7 INTs, and then 12 with just 6.

znModeratorStafford was bad but McVay is even more frustrating. Either he just can’t read the flow of a game, or he simple disregards it and calls whatever he wants to call regardless of what’s happening right in front of him.
That’s been my take on McVay. He’s a great offensive mind when it comes to overall strategy and play design. But he does not always seem to have in-the-moment game instincts and a tactical feel for game situations.

Stafford was beat out by Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Kyler Murray for a Pro Bowl spot in the NFC, despite putting up numbers that rival all three players. Stafford was named an alternate, so he should get into the Pro Bowl if someone drops out, but it’s not the same as being selected in the first place.
He doesn’t seem to mind, though.
“Not really, to be honest with you,” he said when asked if he had a reaction to not making the Pro Bowl. “Just go about my day, continue to prepare, try to play as good as I possibly can for the guys in our locker room and our coaching staff, and our fans. So, that’s kind of how I feel about it, to be honest with you.”
