znModeratorBlaine Grisak@bgrisakDTRAn update on the Rams 2023 comp picks. Williams should net them a 4th.
znModeratorHoldenCantor@HoldenCantorThe Rams have cleared $28 mil in cap space by Whitworth retiring and restructuring Floyd’s deal.March 16, 2022 at 1:43 pm in reply to: Rams internal FAs & contract issues (updated w/ big article] #137606
znModeratorJourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigueReported last week and here that ILB Travin Howard would receive a tender from the Rams. It’s an original-round tender, per source. Howard was a seventh-round pick in 2018. Rams also sent an original-round tender to Matt Gay and extended would-be RFA OL Coleman Shelton.
znModeratorPerhaps, having a topnotch LT, is a key ingredient: Orlando Pace Andrew Whitworth w v
You forget Alex Barron, Jason Smith, and Greg Robinson.
znModeratorSo do the Rams have 2 third-round picks? w v
The Rams’ third-rounder was thanks to Brad Holmes being hired as the Lions’ GM last year, which was part of the NFL’s minority hiring initiative that awards teams a third-round compensatory pick in consecutive years for another team hiring an executive or coach as its head coach or GM.
That third-rounder will be their first pick in the draft, coming at No. 104 overall. If not for that selection, their first pick would’ve been at No. 142 overall.
The other comp picks were from the losses of Samson Ebukam, Gerald Everett, Morgan Fox, Troy Hill and John Johnson.
In total, the Rams have one third-rounder, one fourth-rounder, one fifth-rounder, three sixth-rounders and two picks in the seventh round.

znModeratorNoteboom’s contract.

Notice that they gave him a big signing bonus then stretched it out with 2 void years. So they gave him a low cap number for 2022 (3.5 M) with a low salary (1.5 M), but also gave him 10 M in bonus money. He does not become a real cap hit until 2023. When he does get a real cap hit in 23, it’s very reasonable for a starting LOT (15.5 M).
znModeratorI was discussing this with my son on Sunday. My “sense” is that we used to be able to more-or-less believe that the media gave us facts, although they would frame the facts to represent the interest of the elite class. There has always been disinformation, but I used to believe that for the most part, we were given facts. The trick was to perceive the framing at work around those facts. Now, MSM makes shit up themselves. It used to be just the corps and the gov’t engaged in disinformation. Now the media is making shit up.
I disagree though not in a major way. Back when the invasion of Iraq was building up, it was possible to debunk major narratives justifying it, such as the claim the WMD were likely to exist in Iraq. The MSM was not pushing that counter-narrative. Yet we (quite correctly) deduced that the dominant narrative did not hold up and that the opposite was far more likely.
You can find things out, but you can’t do it alone and you need to know how to find sources that are not just in the media, meaning either the MSM or the “alternatives.” Sometimes it’s not a matter of finding “facts” but of finding which narratives stand up better to scrutiny.
Sometimes you don’t get enough to know. Sometimes you get enough to make analysis possible.
znModeratorWith Noteboom, Allen and Shelton back, we might already know what the Rams' starting offensive line will look like in 2022 https://t.co/fQj56iWzuL

znModerator𝕋𝕠𝕞@TL_LARamsAustin Corbett is signing with the Panthers for $9.75m a year. I don’t know the terms of the deal, but I know Coleman Shelton will have signed for a lot less than that, and I don’t know if there would be any drop off in OL play
znModeratorBig reason why the #Rams have been successful: they’ve been arguably the best drafting team in the NFL.
Easier to trade early round picks when you’re drafting this well on Day 3. https://t.co/l550Ox01ey

The Rams didn't have a first or second round pick in 2018. And yet, they drafted 4 dudes who have already gotten paid legit money:
OT Joseph Noteboom: 3-years, $40M
C Brian Allen: 3-years, $24M
DE John Franklin-Myers: 4-years, $55M
DT Sebastian Joseph-Day: 3-years, $24M— Field Yates (@FieldYates) March 15, 2022

znModeratorEd Werder@WerderEdESPNMy understanding is Bobby Wagner is pursuing interest in the No. 1 team on his preferred list. He has the #Cowboys and DC Dan Quinn high on his secondary list of options
znModeratorAri Meirov@MySportsUpdateTyrann Mathieu is now expected to leave Kansas City after three seasons. Still just 29-years old, Mathieu was the heart-and-soul of that defense.March 15, 2022 at 3:01 am in reply to: Seattle trades Wilson to Denver…update, & release Wagner #137558

znModeratorBased on the $8M APY SJD is making, the Rams will probably net a 5th-round comp pick.

znModeratorThe Rams also announced a two-year deal for C/G Coleman Shelton. No tender – a multi-year deal for Shelton, who not only can lend depth at C but also can play guard (the latter is pretty important).

znModeratorI agree that it depends on luck and injuries.
They are contenders though.
Especially if they trade for Lawrence Taylor.
