znModeratorfrom https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-power-rankings-week-3-2022-nfl-season
Previous rank: No. 4
Jalen Ramsey: He’s got that dog in him. The superstar cornerback high-pointed a Marcus Mariota heave to the end zone in the final minutes on Sunday, snagging the interception that sealed a too-close-for-comfort 31-27 win over the frisky Falcons at SoFi. Los Angeles opened up a 28-3 lead over Atlanta in the third quarter before some complacent play, coupled with a massive special teams gaffe, opened the door for the potential of a stunning upset. Ramsey slammed that door shut, but the Rams need to be sharper after an uninspiring first two weeks of their title defense.
znModerator4. Los Angeles Rams (1-1)
Week 2 ranking: 5

Biggest early adjustment: Stop turning over the ball
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has thrown five interceptions in the first two weeks, and he was quick to say after the win Sunday against the Falcons that those plays are “frustrating for me, and I know frustrating for our team.” Stafford said he’s his own worst critic, and he knows he needs to clean up those mistakes. “I’m hard on myself at all times,” he said. “I’ll definitely look inward and try to figure out a way to make sure those things don’t happen.” Stafford was tied for the league lead with 17 interceptions last season. — Sarah Barshop

znModeratorGraham Barfield@GrahamBarfieldThe Rams offensive line has opened up an average of -0.05 yards before first contact on their RB carries through two games, which is worst in the league per @FantasyPtsData. Regardless if its Akers or Henderson, their offensive line is a massive concern moving forward.

znModeratorCooper Kupp makes it look like a game of #Madden with the spin move but its far from it!
Hope some people now realize that it aint as easy as he makes it look & give this man his credit 🙌 #cooperkupp #RamsHouse #NFL #respect #Hustle #Dawgwork #Humble #LosAngelesRams pic.twitter.com/46KB3Dbagw— GameDownSights (@GameDownSights) September 20, 2022

znModeratorBlaine Grisak@bgrisakDTRThe Rams run defense ranks first in the NFL against the run in DVOA. This is also the case in run defense EPA where the Rams’ -.466 also ranks first..After ranking 32nd in total defensive DVOA after week 1, the Rams are up to 19th after Week 2. They rank 27th against the pass and 1st against the run..Justin Hollins has stepped in really nicely opposite Leonard Floyd. Not as effective as a pass rusher, but leads edge rushers in run-stop win-rate. A’Shawn Robinson also ranks fourth among DTs..𝕋𝕠𝕞@TL_LARamsTurns out @TremayneAnchrum actually broke his ankle on the FIRST snap of the game for the Rams O, when he had some players fall on his leg from behind. But he tried to play through it on the second snap before he realised how bad his leg was. What an absolute beast!.Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodriguewhen the Rams featured Skowronek at FB, their EPA/snap was 0.23. Contextually, their overall offensive EPA/play in Week 2 was 0.13.
znModerator𝕋𝕠𝕞@TL_LARams
Despite a makeshift OL, that was even more makeshift after an injury on the first play, and with Ben Skowronek frequently lining up in the backfield in a three point stance, the Rams had zero offensive penalties against the Falcons
znModeratorJourdan Rodrigue: I thought Stafford played well and especially better than last week and got the ball to a lot of guys which is noted here throughout, responsibly as are his INTs. The Rams’ EPA per snap when Skow was at fullback was .23 which is quite the spike to the positive so again, I’m not willing to dismiss the effect that adjustment had even if it’s also true at the same time that they miss Van and also true at the same time that Stafford played well and also true at the same time that he threw two INTs.

znModeratorMost surprising thing to me so far is the Bengals OLine. Its terrible so far. They new it was their only weakness and they totally replaced the old OLine. And it still sux. w v
I’ve had conversations before with folks who think that the qb makes the OL. So for example there was nothing wrong in 2008 that couldn’t have been handled if only Bulger were a good enough qb.
The Bengals OL coach coached the Dallas OL from 2015-2017. He’s presumably competent.

znModeratorSam Monson@PFF_SamJoseph Noteboom has allowed 11 pressures so far in 2 games. Andrew Whitworth allowed 20 last year all season, including the Super Bowl run.
znModeratorJourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigueAnchrum is out for the year, per McVay. Kendrick, Rochell available if BOTH Hill, Durant can’t go. McVay isn’t sure on Durant but doesn’t sound like Hill will be back this week
znModeratorMatthew Stafford broke down his 2 INTs against the Falcons, explaining what happened on each one
He called the first a "greedy play" and the second a "really nice play" by the linebacker https://t.co/VpJGFXmUKh

znModeratorBlaine Grisak@bgrisakDTRJalen Ramsey has seven interceptions since joining the Rams. Five of those interceptions have come in final eight minutes of the fourth quarter. Those final eight minutes are typically the biggest moments of the game..Stafford ranked 9th in adj. EPA/play yesterday against the Falcons. His EPA + CPOE composite ranked seventh. Much better performance from the Rams QB. Just needs to clean up the turnovers..The Rams offense was nearly 3x more effective against the Falcons when Ben Skowronek lined up at full back. Is this a package that we could see more of in the offense moving forward?.Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigueI loved this call: Skow at FB, Akers at RB. Kupp in motion. Akers picks up the middle block. Screen pass to Higbee opposite side of Skow block/release lane that gets 19. Rams remembering they have more pages of the playbook this week..Neat how the Rams have been using Brandon Powell, a player who worked his butt off for more offensive opps through camp. He’s been coming out of the backfield aligned opposite the RB and selling some of the under concepts (including that gain to Kupp just now).
znModeratorStu Jackson@StuJRamsIf Durant and Hill are unavailable this week, Derion Kendrick and Robert Rochell would be next men up.September 19, 2022 at 6:23 pm in reply to: highlights & plays, Falcons game (w/ some Baldingers) #140704
