znModeratorPete Prisco@PriscoCBSThe more I watch of Chop Robinson, the more I like. He might end up being the best pure pass rusher in this class. He has the best get off and bend among the top guys in my book. Just needs some coaching.

znModeratorJourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigueCurrently watching my advance preview of “Matthew Stafford: Locked In,” and I have told you guys this a few times the last couple years but this dude is out of his f***ing gourd, and man do they capture it. Great watch so far and clearly a huge effort by the crew..Fun look. In some ways like flipping through a yearbook curated by the team. Stafford and his family will probably really get a kick out of re-watching this years from now..Stu Jackson@StuJRamsHaving seen “Matthew Stafford: Locked In”, all I’m gonna say is if you don’t put respect on 9’s name (if you didn’t already) after watching it tomorrow night, I’ve got nothing for you. It’s that good
znModeratorBlaine Grisak@bgrisakTSTDaniel Jeremiah says when you look around the league there are maybe 7 impacts defensive tackles, but EDGE is much deeper. Mentions Byron Murphy as a potential impact player along the DL. Says there is a drop off at DT, but some EDGE guys in the mid-rounds..Stu Jackson@StuJRamsNFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah said Rams have ammo to trade up from 19th overall, but also wouldn’t rule out trading back to accumulate more picks given how GM Les Snead likes to operate. If move up, ID’d DT Byron Murphy or 1 of 3 best available EDGEs if preference between trio

znModeratorRams WR Puka Nacua on his first NFL offseason, training with Cooper Kupp and eating right
By Jourdan Rodrigue
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — In second-year Rams receiver Puka Nacua’s initial week of offseason training with veteran teammate Cooper Kupp, he threw up.
A lot. Anywhere he could see grass.
“His conditioning days were some of the tougher ones,” said a sheepishly grinning Nacua on Monday as the Rams opened their first phase of Organized Team Activities (OTAs).
“That first week I came back, I think threw up every day of the week. He wasn’t a fan of that, because it was on his lawn! ‘You’re throwing up in my bushes, Puka — thanks.’ But it was super fun.”
Nacua is still adjusting to life in the NFL — not just because he became a household name as a fifth-round surprise who set the new rookie receiving record in 2023 with 105 catches and 1,486 yards. His sudden burst into stardom has been accompanied by court-side seats at Los Angeles Lakers games, playing in the NBA Celebrity All-Star game, and shoutouts from top athletes and celebrities on social media.
It also means that Nacua, whose physical play-style led to a number of different injuries to his ribs, arms and shoulders, and knees (he didn’t miss any time) is now taking a more NFL-standard approach to the offseason. In doing so, Nacua says he is following Kupp’s lead.
Incoming rookies train for standard testing at all-star events such as the Senior Bowl or NFL scouting combine, not necessarily an actual NFL season. Now, Nacua will have a full offseason of football training designed with the intent of actually playing football.
“Coop was ready to get to it right before the Super Bowl,” Nacua said, “he was already starting his integration to get ready to work out. A lot of mobility stuff in (this) first part, and then just continuing to stay explosive. A lot of top-end speed that we are working on.”
Rest, diet and recovery are as important as his new conditioning. Nacua said he has leaned out a little – he now weighs 210 pounds, but he said he also has added some protective bulk around his shoulders and chest.
“I think Coop would definitely not advise me to eat McDonald’s as much as I did during the season, he wasn’t a fan of that,” said Nacua, laughing.
“The mentality from last year was ‘one day at a time.’ I just think that I could never really think about Sunday, until I was waking up on Sunday a 9 a.m. … I guess another step in the recovery phase, (when) I saw Coop, as much as we were working out hard in the offseason he was recovering just as hard. Taking nutrition into it, having people who do body work outside of the facility and finding ways to constantly recover. If I’m going to have a two-hour workout period, then the 22 other hours in the day how else can I recover? How else can I gain an advantage? Honestly, I’ve recovered just as hard as I’m working out. That was a mindset I didn’t have before.”

Rob Havenstein on second-year OL Steve Avila switching to center. Huge extra effort behind the scenes. This is a long quote but worth a read and great insight (good advice in here even for general public who wants to know where to start when getting into film study too)
znModeratori do remember there being talk of restructuring his. but i haven’t heard of anyone else.
They did restructure NB. They moved 10 M of his 2024 hit into a void year in 2025 by making it a prorated bonus. Initially he counted 20 M against the 2024 cap, now it’s 11.6 M. That’s the figures at over.the.cap.com. I don’t get the math on them but that’s okay. Essentially they gained abou 8 M in 2024 cap space by putting money into 2025, when he is no longer under contract. So they take a 10 M dead money cap hit on him next year.
znModeratorWhite’s cap hit for this season will be just $3.485M. His base salary is just $1.5 million.
This leaves the Rams 11,546,513 (11.5 M) under cap, with the draft expected to be about 6.4 M.
They are currently 12.4 M under the 2025 cap.
znModeratorTre’Davious White Cap Hit
White signed just a one-year deal with the Rams worth $4.25 million. 3.25 million is guaranteed, including a $1.75 million signing bonus. White’s cap hit for this season will be just $3.485M. His base salary is just $1.5 million.
White can also earn more money depending on his playtime incentives. The contract value increases to $8.5 million if White plays in 60% of the Rams defensive snaps in 2024, and there are up to $1 million in per-game bonuses.
znModeratorif memory serves I think that Kam Curl article actually showed up later.
I saw it was being held by the anti-spam so I “approved” it. That’s why it appeared.
znModerator

znModeratorHi. I just saw this, sry. I don’t often go to the “policies” forum so I missed this.
In terms of disappearing posts:
Here’s what happens with what you describe. Our anti-spam protection sometimes gets twitchy about posts with outside links. The solution to that is simple. Go down to the little chat icon on the lower right and leave me a private message, saying a post of mine got snagged by the anti-spam bot. I can then immediately “approve” it. Or you can just put a “help!” post on the board, saying anti-spam got me, and then when I “approve” the disappeared post I will delete the “help!” post.
In terms of tweets…CR, I know you know some of this, but read on anyway:
1 Make sure you have the right url. To get that you hit the time or date stamp on the tweet, which is usually at the top for recent tweets but sometimes at the bottom for less recent tweets. It’s whatever gives you either the time or the date of the tweet. When you click on that, the url appears in your own address bar. Copy that from your address bar– that’s the right url. I post some tweets in the next thread with time stamps circled in red.
2 Never post a tweet with your own prose in the same post. For some forsaken reason, the tweet won’t appear that way. Do it this way instead. Just post the tweet. Then if you want to add writing to the post, hit edit and go back and add your own writing. That way (for reasons that escape me) you will get both the tweet and your own added prose.
znModeratorAaron Donald UNSTOPPABLE: 2018 Defensive Player of the Year Highlights!
znModeratorBill Barnwell@billbarnwellWho is this year’s Kyren Williams? Williams’s development path certainly seems rare – a Day 3 pick who was anonymous as a rookie before a 1,114-rushing yard season in year two. Is it unprecedented?.Looking at backs who were: – picked between Round 5 and Round 7 since 1990 – had fewer than 150 rush yards and 100 receiving yards as a rookie Williams was the only one to run for 1,000 yards in Year 2. The one who came close mostly fall into Remember Some Guys territory..

znModeratorBlaine Grisak@bgrisakTSTThe highest-paid player on the Rams defense currently is Darious Williams at $4.6M Rams would have to trade into the top-10 for their first round pick to have a higher cap-hit than Williams..The Rams currently have $66M in defensive spending which ranks 32nd. However, $24.9M of that is Aaron Donald. Taking away AD, that leaves them with $41.1M in defensive spending. Next closest is the Chiefs at $76.6M. Gap b/w KC at 31 and LAR at 32 is same as KC and WAS at 9.

znModeratori like darius robinson. and i don’t necessarily believe in replacing like for like especially when you have kobie turner.
Yeah “replacing” is not the way to go w/ the front 7…you just load up and add a couple of different players to the front 7, picking the best one first obviously. So yeah a DE is a choice too.

znModeratorfrom https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2024/4/8/24124598/rams-mock-drafts-most-common-picks
These four prospects I’m seeing all the time for the Rams in mock drafts:
DT Byron Murphy, Texas
A side called NFL Draft Plex has the Rams picking Murphy, which is probably the most common Rams connection in the draft right now.
The Rams and Byron Murphy II still seems like an obvious fit — unless another team beats LA to the punch.
There is never anything “obvious” about the 19th pick in the draft. WalterFootball has the Rams picking Murphy too.
Aaron Donald has retired, which is a bummer because the Rams had a great chance to make a Super Bowl run. Donald will obviously need to be replaced.
Byron Murphy has been impressive as both a run defender and a pass rusher. The only negative is that he lacks length.
Everything always comes back to Aaron Donald retiring. Let’s keep in mind that the team knew AD was retiring but didn’t address the position in free agency. Is that because they’re just certain that they can get an adequate player in the draft or is it that the team isn’t overly concerned with getting a defensive tackle? It could be the latter, which implies that the Rams are just as happy with a day two pick, which they did with Kobie Turner in 2023, as a first rounder. It could be Murphy or Newton, but it doesn’t have to be a front-seven player at all.
Marcus Mosher of The 33rd Team has the Rams picking Murphy too.
DT Johnny Newton, Illinois
NFL Spin Zone has the Rams picking Newton.
“With Aaron Donald retiring, the Rams have a huge need at DT, so they’ll try to fill that with Johnny Newton, who can help them in the present and in the long-term. Newton joins a young but very talented defense.”
The Huddle has it too.
EDGE Laiatu Latu, UCLA
Josh Edwards of CBS has Latu, as many mock drafters do.
Los Angeles explored the idea of trading for Brian Burns a few years ago and, if it had its druthers, it would like to have a respectable pass rusher to plug in opposite Byron Young, who had a really promising rookie season.
Here is another mock with Latu to the Rams. The Chicago Sun-Times has Latu to the Rams.
EDGE Jared Verse, Florida State
CBS’s Bryan DeArdo mocked Verse to the Rams on Sunday. An ESPN writer named James Meche has Verse also.
“Naturally, I would take an interior defensive lineman to replace Aaron Donald but that might be too easy. How about getting a top edge rusher in the class?”
I don’t see how this is any less “easy”!
At least Chad Reuter, who is always always always wrong it seems, has the Rams picking Chop Robinson. At least it’s original.
