It’ll be interesting to see what McSnead does in the draft.   Where do they see the needs on defense.  Linebacker?  DB?

We’ll need a few more games to really tell so maybe I am getting ahead of myself. But this defense, so far, is IMO much closer than that.  The only draft needs I see for this defense are at corner. The starters at CB are okay now, but they need future starters and CB depth.

This, I am guessing, will be an offensive draft. They are not the same offense without Nacua and Kupp, and those guys have injury issues. They could also use future starters on the OL, believe it or not (Jackson isn’t signed and Hav is getting up there).

I dunno. While I agree that things are going to get far, far worse, and this is basically the death of the “American dream” of living in prosperity and freedom, the fact that the oligarchy financed this heavily doesn’t account for the voting patterns

Though that’s not what I said. Or it’s not quite it. The election had to do with the money guys funding the message to the lower rung base, and the message had to do with the usual anxieties and moral panics about migrants, race, sexuality, and etc. plus believing that price gouging was inflation. Don’t account for that, and you don’t account for this election.

It’s this, to sum it all up in one joke:

Another interesting, though not entirely surprising because of the way he’s played, Next Gen Stats find: Rams OLB Byron Young currently leads the NFL with 4 turnovers caused by pressure (the number of pressures that a defender creates that result in a turnover – INT or forced fumbles)
    .
    Rams Wire@TheRamsWire
Kam Kinchens is your NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 9! 3 tackles, 2 interceptions (including a 103-yard pick-six) and 1 fumble recovery

    Los Angeles Rams PR@TheLARamsPR
DE Braden Fiske became just the fourth Rams rookie to record 2.0 sacks and two tackles for loss in a single game during their rookie season. He joined Kobie Turner (Weeks 12 and 17 of 2023), Chris Long (Week 8 of 2008) and James Whitley (Week 11 of 2002).

Kamren Kinchens almost fell out of the NFL Draft’s Top 100 due to his 40 time. Landed in LA. He tells us that was definitely on his mind as he nearly hit 20 MPH on his pick-six last week in Seattle.

Rams dynamic rookie Jared Verse had 2 more tackles for loss this past week against Seattle. Verse now has 9 TFL which leads the entire NFC conference

According to Next Gen Stats, the Rams defense is generating the highest pressure rate in the NFL entering Week 10, causing pressure on 42.8% of QB dropbacks. Rams are also in the Top 10 in team sack rate: 7.8% is 8th-highest in the league

    Maybe this explains it.

It doesn’t. This is not an issue of the left not being heard, this is an issue of the right getting a very regressive message out to its base, while being backed by big money that has been promised huge gifts in the form of tax relief and drilling rights etc.

So it’s a combination of the rich oligarchy getting even more of what it wants than ever before–and I mean by huge big preposterous bunches more–and prejudiced Magas saving their kids from migrants turning them trans (the latter joke captures a real point).

Among the things threatened? Besides the environment. Social security, FEMA, education, women’s reproductive rights, the safety net and assistance out of poverty….

    it goes on and on.

This is the worst in our lifetimes. By far. Make no mistake.

I have come to despise the Democrats so much in the last few years, I just feel zero regret about this election.

You will. Feel regret about Trump getting a 2nd term w/ project 2025 behind him. It will be impossible not to regret it (well unless you’re one of them). I mean you think things are bad NOW….

Chris Shula and his defense have arrived

When Shula’s defense repeatedly picked off the Raiders two weeks ago, it seemed like a flash in the pan performance. After Shula’s defense came away with three interceptions on Sunday, that no longer seemed to be the case.

Not only were they opportunistic, they were stout defensively, repeatedly stuffing the Seahawks’ rushing attack. This proved critical when they stopped Kenneth Walker on fourth-and-1 in the red zone in OT. The Rams won the game four plays later. That’s three straight spectacular performances for Shula’s group.

Because of this analysis, it is Dr. Lichtman’s prediction that Kamala Harris will win the White House in the 2024 Presidential Election.

    And so much for that.

Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp and Demarcus Robinson break down how the Rams’ game-winning touchdown vs. Seahawks unfolded

    Stu Jackson

    https://www.therams.com/news/matthew-stafford-cooper-kupp-and-demarcus-robinson-break-down-how-the-rams-game-winning-touchdown-vs-seahawks-unfolded

SEATTLE – Matthew Stafford postgame admitted that, pre-snap, he didn’t know he would be throwing the ball on arguably the most important play of Sunday’s game.

“But sometimes those things happen,” the Rams quarterback said. “You get out clean and D-Rob does a hell of a job winning at the point and then holding him off and then catching it.”

That clean look translated to the game-winning, walk-off touchdown – a 39-yarder to wide receiver Demarcus Robinson to lift the Rams to a 26-20 win over the Seahawks.

Wide receiver Cooper Kupp said the intent of the play is to “be able to get the edge clean for Matthew,” and “give him a chance to make a play and do something sweet.” Kupp sealing the edge was what drove Stafford’s decision to make that throw to Robinson.

“After I see it, I kind of just made myself available,” Kupp said. “That ball is very rarely thrown to that route. D-Rob did a great job off the line of scrimmage, and when he set that angle high, I just couldn’t believe it when I saw Matthew flip his hips. I said, ‘Oh, he’s about to let this thing go.'”

Just as impressive as the pass was Robinson’s one-handed grab at the end, though he wasn’t doing it for style points.

“I was just trying to hold the guy out because he (Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen) was kind of catching up,” Robinson said. “Woolen’s pretty fast, so he was catching up to the ball. Because, you know, the ball takes a little distance for it to get to me. So he was catching up. So I was like, ‘alright, let me just stick my arm out,’ and he was starting to hold on to my arm, so I only had one arm to try to make a play.”

“When I threw it, you know, the body language from D-Rob, I was like, ‘oh no, I under threw it,’ I thought I might have under thrown a dish from his body language,” Stafford said. “He did such a great job holding him off.”

It was a fitting end to a game-winning drive that began with a pair of explosive completions by Stafford: An impressive 24-yarder to wide receiver Tyler Johnson, followed by a 16-yarder to wide receiver Tutu Atwell. Stafford said Johnson did a good job of getting in front of Woolen, and said he “didn’t have any other options” on that throw, the timing of which narrowly avoided an interception by an incoming Seahawks defender. Stafford also praised Atwell for the great job he did of separating from his defender on that deep comeback route.

It was also a rewarding end for a Los Angeles defense whose 4th-down, redzone stop in overtime launched that drive, after having to make up for some of the challenges endured by the offense in the first half and parts of the second half.

“It’s our turn, man,” Robinson said of the offense’s mindset when it got the ball in overtime after that stop. “The defense did a great job giving us a stop, giving us the ball back. It’s our turn to go put points on the board. It was either score get three points and end the game, or not leave it up to the kicker. So we was trying to just get a touchdown so it could be over with.”

    from https://www.therams.com/news/5-interesting-stats-from-week-9-win-at-seahawks-elite-pass-rush-matthew-stafford-s-play-action-success

Kam Kinchens’ 103-yard pick-six was the most impactful defensive play of the season, and third-most impactful overall, based on win probability added (52.4%), via NFLverse data

Kinchens’ pick-six wasn’t just an impact play. It was the most impactful defensive play of the season. When he broke the end zone to give the Rams their first lead since the second quarter, the Rams’ win probability jumped from just over 19% to 71.6%, meaning it increased the Rams’ chances of winning by 52.4%. The game immediately got flipped on its head.

Kinchens traveled 128.3 yards for the touchdown, the most distance traveled for a ball-carrier this season, according to Next Gen Stats. Despite having a diminished role in the weeks leading up to this game, Kinchens “kept grinding” and took advantage of his opportunities on Sunday.

I agree with all of this. That was either the greatest shitty pass of all time, or the shittiest great pass of all time. Or something. I dunno. But I’ve never seen anything like that before. That was brand new fresh and original. You know, he led Tyler Johnson precisely, and put that ball EXACTLY where it need to be for that to be a catch. And the fact that “Pants-Around-His-Ankles” Worrell tried to deposit that check before it got endorsed just adds to it.

More than that, I don’t think he makes that pass to anyone but Johnson. Johnson is their big, tough, physical, contested catches guy. Nacua has some of that, but Johnson more so.

From what I see in different angle vids is that Johnson was either going to prevent the INT or make the catch. As I see it, the CB was moving toward the ball, he wasn’t just standing there, and Johnson saw it all, the ball in the air and the CB.

I don’t even recognize this Rams front office anymore. Why don’t they go get some actual players?

They know nothing about football. Remember, they’re the guys who let Darren Arnold retire.

    5. Jaylen McCollough is tied for 3rd in the league in INTs and he’s only played 81 snaps

    😲

The next post breaks it down to pure coverage snaps.

It’s amazing numbers. If this keeps up, or anything remotely like it, it’s going to be quite a story.

    Los Angeles Rams PR@TheLARamsPR
In 69 coverage snaps this season, S Jaylen McCollough has recorded four interceptions, one defensive touchdown, four passes defended, one pass breakup, and two incompletions against as the primary defender. His 0.0 passer rating against as the primary defender is tied for first across the NFL

TurfShowTimes@TurfShowTimes Rams trade Tre’Davious White to the Ravens in what could be the least amount of compensation that a team has ever received

Wonder how much of White’s contract goes with him to Baltimore. According to the source I just read, White signed for 3 M. If the Rams gave  some of that to the Ravens, it could help a little in 2025, since cap space carries over from year to year.

Geno ranked much higher than Stafford in that game?  “turnover worthy plays”

Smith was heavily under pressure behind a shakey OL and he’s not a consistent qb. But he did hit more than his share of chunk plays. Stafford was under some pressure too (not as much as Smith) but also according to things I’ve read Seattle threw an unexpected defense at him. They ignored motion, which tells you they’re playing zone, but then played man anyway. It took the Rams a while to sort out what the Seattle defense was doing. Plus, the run was not as reliable as normal for the Rams, and they kept getting penalties on offense.

Then in overtime, Stafford was “on.” He was just on. Another Stafford late win.

Rams defense was mostly great throughout the game but then let Seattle have more than its share of chunk pass plays, which is what kept Seattle in the game.

From NFL communications: Kam Kinchens recorded a 103-yard interception-return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, tied with Pete Barnum (Sept. 26, 1926) for the longest pick six by a rookie in NFL history and the longest go-ahead fourth-quarter touchdown by a rookie all-time.
