wvParticipantI read an article years ago about a young
Roman Gabriel, who had such a gun that he would throw 50 yard bullets.
Not bombs, but bullets. 50 yards. And he had to be coached out of that.Stafford’s arm is just ridiculous. I hope these Ram WRs and Tight Ends and RBs can hang on to his passes, cause its gonna be an adjustment.
I’m already excited about next year. As a fan, i havent been
this excited about a ram season in a while. And i know
the whole thing may blow up. The Oline may implode, the defense
might regress, etc. I know this isnt the 99 Rams we are gonna see.But I’m excited to see this QB.

wvParticipantWhat i wonder is, if there is someone in the Rams Org
who is trashing Goff. Thats the issue to me. Not
whether âits trueâ or not. Just that there
is someone trashing Goff. Its not very classy if thats whats happening.
Well I missed that you were saying that.
And yes if they were doing that it gets us back to Zygmunt territory.
======
Zygmunt!….Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs…w

wvParticipantYou canât take bait like that so easily.
I mean who is Gottlieb and who are his âsourcesâ?
Meanwhile there are several beat reporters in LA and even national guys based in LA and across 5 years we heard none of this.
And of top of it no one knows Goff better than Holmes, the former Rams chief of scouting who is now the Detroit GM and just traded for him.
Do you trade for a guy with a questionable work ethic?
In fact Holmes turned down an offer for Stafford that included the 8th pick in the draft (from Carolina). If Detroit took that, they would have the 7th and 8th picks in the draft, which is plenty of ammo to go after a qb. Instead he took Goff.

Well, he said flat-out it came from inside sources,
so if he’s lying thats pretty bad. What i wonder is, if there is someone in the Rams Org

wvParticipanti just find it hard to believe that folks think that Goff is not capable of winning a Super Bowl in LA. He was 2 dropped passes by Brandon Cooks to win it 2018.
He and his 9 fingers pulled within 7 when his number 1 defense turned to Swiss Cheese in Wisconsin. Goff and the Rams beat the shit out of the current NFC Champion (TB) in their backyard. Heâs more than capable to winâŠ..
He and his 9 fingers relieved Alfred E Newman (wolford) in Seattle to keep the Rams alive this season. Does any remember Wolfordâs scramble prior to the one he got hurt where he slid well before the 1st down marker on 3rd down?⊠If Goff did that, folks would still be hammering him. Who made the decision to start Wolford over GOff that game?
the question is, âŠis McVay and his gambler Les Snead GM capable? Heâs a fucking choker, curled up in the Super Bowl before the coin was even tossed sucking up to Billichick like a school girlâŠâŠ He didnât prepare his team for SF last year and got eliminated.
You canât pin the last 2 seasons on Goff, but you can pin it on his contract that impacts the roster and draft⊠who fault is that?
BTW, is anyone concerned of the current coaching exodus???? Why is that happening?
==============
Well, i said for years, Goff is good enuff to win a ring.
So, that ‘is’ what i thot. But i also think two other things:
1) Goff has made more dum mistakes this year
than in past years. I’m talkin dum ones. Not the usual kind.
and,
2) McVay knows more about the QB situation than i do. So, if McV thinks
an upgrade is needed, I kinda just go, “well alrighty then.”Granted, McVay may be wrong.
Granted, Goff may win three rings in the next ten years. The future is unwritten đ
If the Rams wanna compete with the big boys though,
I think they still need a WR-burner, and i guess
an upgrade at Guard.w

I think Les is in way over his head⊠heâs like a degenerate gambler trying to play catch up on a Monday Night Football game bet to make for his Sundayâs lossesâŠ
Heâs gambling the future on an old horse at QB when he had a more than capable QB who was combat proven to win huge games.
.===============
I just dont think any of us can ‘know’ that.
McSnead obviously think they couldnt win a Ring with Goff.
They could come close, but not quite get past the Chiefs, Packers, 49ers.Maybe they are right. We dunno.
We will have to wait and see.

wvParticipantDetroit, Michigan. Home of the Detroit Lions. In Detroit. Itâs like Siberia, but worse. Some Siberian destinations have a bed of flowers. Lovable Losers, like the Cubs were for so long. Cleveland at least had the respectful sympathy of a nation of fans who recognized and honored their losing ways. Detroit got nada. No history, no lovable fan base, nothing. And itâs Detroit.
=======================
I have all kinds of mixed feelings/thots. Too many to untangle,
but I do like the trade and I’m glad it happened, even though,
like all trades its impossible to say who, if anyone, will benefit. But as far as Goff in Detroit, in a way he’s in a good situation.
No-one in the media expects much from him. Detroit’s fans are rolling
their eyes about him. Detroit has been awful forever. He’s got a chance to be part of a rebirth, and shock a lot of people.
I’m sure they know they need to build an OLine and a Running game.
Maybe it happens. We all like Jared, it would be nice to see him rise
like a Phoenix with the Lions. But i wanna see a Ram QB with a Big Gun
for a change. I just wanna see it.w
v
wvParticipantIf you havent listened to that Gottleib vid above, you might wanna.
Gottleib claims his info came from a coupla sources inside
the rams….says goff’s work ethic wasnt as good as Wolford’s and he didnt take work-ethic cues from workaholic McVay, and Goff didnt take responsibility for bad games, etc.Either Gottleib is just full of shit,
or some rams people are trashing Goff,
or…i dunno.w

Um, what? That is an F’d up rating-system
if they think Cam Akers didnt generate a significant amount of value.w

wvParticipantLions fans. Not thrilled with Goff, but he’s a “middle tier QB”
wvParticipantThese guys are 49er fans. In another vid they called Goff “a day off for the 49er defense.” They said the 49ers ‘owned’ Goff.
=================
wvParticipantHas Detroit been good at ‘anything’ in the last decade?
Wonder why they have sucked for so long
at so many things.I guess we are gonna pay a little more attention
to them now that they are linked to the Rams
in a way.w
v
wvParticipantI’m curious who they will trade
the 2024 and 2025 first-rounders for.w
v
wvParticipantI dont think Aikman ‘trashed’ Goff in his telecasts.
I always thought Aikman was critical but fair, regarding Goff.I dont think Mc-Snead should have said one single
word — other than bland generalities — to the Press, about Goff during the negotiations. I dunno why they felt the need to do the coy shit.Having said that, i also think these are multi-millionaires
playing a game, and I dont ‘feel sorry’ for Goff, and i
dont think McVay/Snead did anything to the level of what we saw,
back in the Madame Ram days.w
v
wvParticipantmaybe he has a carson palmer like resurgence toward the end of his career. he could potentially have another five years left in him.

Maybe a Jim Plunkett resurgence.
Not a Joe Namath, though.

wvParticipantOn the ‘falling out of love with his stars’ thing.
Todd Gurley had a 3.5 yard rushing average for the Falcons.
Gained less than 700 yards.I dont think McVay ‘fell out of love’ with Todd.
I think Todd hurt his knee.w
v
wvParticipantIn 2017, he had a QB rating of 99.3 — but get this,
he was sacked 47 times. That has got to be some
sort of record. He had 2 fumbles in 2020.
He had 11 in 2017.Hasnt been a Low-INT guy.
Usually in that 10-15 range.5 seasons over 95 QB rating.

wvParticipantDefenses have successfully pressured Goff with four players â creating less favorable offensive situations downfield â but Wolfordâs ability to move demanded more attention with extra rushers. Free rushers couldnât cover the bootlegs the Rams love to use, because Wolford got into them faster and moved them away from that pressure when needed. Against the Cardinals, whose defensive game plan dared Wolford to throw in an effort to contain the Ramsâ run game, McVay appreciated how his entire offense and the quarterback werenât dependent on successfully running the ball.
I am not that impressed with this writer even though she gets all kind of praise. This paragraph is just dumb.
The Cardinals are not a real play-off caliber defense with talented pass rushers, like the 49ers with Nick Bossa. McVay and the Rams are usually fine against teams like the Cards, but you need real talent, especially on the o-line, to match up against talented d-lines.
I think we all know that here. I just find it frustrating to see this completely ignored from Rodrigue.
Where are the good o-line players going to come from? Iâm not sure the Rams even have ONE good player o-line now. They have no cap and, now, have lost some good picks to find those players.
McVay and Snead are getting way too much benefit of the doubt from Rodrigue and other Rams fans.
McVay and Snead have made a number of bad gambles after they lost the benefits of Goffâs rookie dealâthe 2019 plan to replace Saffold & Sullivan was lousy, the plan for the 3rd WR this year sucked, and the special teams in 2020 (remember Sloman??) revealed the dangers of replacing talented players with a lottery ticket.
It will be interesting to see what the Lions do this year. They actually have some interesting potential on offense: two good tackles, a 2nd team-all pro Center, a young & talented TE, and a WR in Golladay, who will provide Goff with a big, talented guy who can go get the ball. Goff has never played with a guy like that.
If the Rams have an injury-riddled year that leads to a losing record this year or next, the Lions will definitely be laughing all the way to the bank.
=====
I think she’s just channeling McVay or some Ram insiders. But who knows.
And i think the Rams, of course, know they need to address
the OLine.I have zero idea how all this change (coaching losses, new QB)
will turn-out. But I’ll say this purely as a fan
thinking about watching ‘fun plays’ — I am gonna enjoy FINALLY
seeing a Ram QB with a GUN, LoL.And yes, i know Stafford has made a ton of dum plays
and the expert-reviews on him are mixed. Some think he’s top tier,
some think he’s 2nd tier, some third tier. I guess we’ll find out.Its all about the OLine after this.
w
v
wvParticipantThe Rams look like a better team with Stafford at qb. He can do some impressive things. But he doesnât look like a top tier guy.
I watched about 10 minutes of Youtube highlights and saw Stafford take a ridiculous sack and fumble in the end zone 3 years ago against the Saints and also throw a dumb Int in the red zone against the Saints last year. Uggh.
Hopefully, the Rams are making a wise bet that some of their young guysâBrycen Hopkins, Anchrum, Jefferson, and maybe Brian Allenâwill be talented players.
The 9ers still look like a better team and should be the team favored to win the West.
—————–
I have no idea who the best team in the West is. They all
look bunched up to me. I suppose injuries will decide it.At any rate, whens the last time a Ram starting QB
had an ARM like Stafford? Just curious.
Ferragamo? Do we have to go back that far?
Tony Banks maybe?w

wvParticipantThe Turfshow comment conflicts with some other ones
Ive seen, that said the Rams offer was by far
the best.
